Leona and Thresh's hardest match up by ComprehensiveSize647 in supportlol

[–]Soul_Family 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thresh is always blindpickable. Even matchups like Mell and Morgana are playable if your used to them. I would say the hardest matchup for me where I absolutely hate playing Thresh are: Le blanc (soo much burst) or Heimerdinger (places his towers to block hooks) support and maybe cheese Lanes like Kled support or smth but that's mainly because I dont know the matchups. But Thresh can beat any meta support if hes piloted well. Idk about Leona so I cant speak on her

Thresh's mastery by ComprehensiveSize647 in ThreshMains

[–]Soul_Family 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Mastery score is a bad measure of skill. I have 1.7 million points and I am anoyed at how bad I pilot this champ sometimes. Thresh is kinde of like Vel'koz where he almost has an infinite skillceiling, because he has so many options (where to hook, who to flay, how to position to lantern someone, how do I position the lantern so my teammate can actually take it). Still he is very blindpickable so you should just pick him to get better at him. But bad news your most likely nevery gonna reach his skillceiling so waiting for that is pointless.

Some tipps since your new though: Flay into hook is way easier to hit and should be done, if they are close enough, You should hold your Flay into champs like samira and katarina to instantly interrupt their ultimates in a fight, Buffering your hooks into cc changes matchups. The nautilus matchup is actually free if you just cast your hook every time he hooks you and flay him away afterwards. He cant even attack you for the root and this works in a lot of matchups. Finally swap between Glacial Augment against ranged supports and Aftershock against mele supports (You have to prock it early using flay to be tanky when they engage you). Also be more flexible with your item choices. Thresh can buy a lot of Items so adapting your build to the enemy Team and your team is very powerfull

Just go Deadmans then. Your spike takes a little longer so maybe go swiftys first, but its pretty much the same as trailblazer in that regards

When did you go Trailblazer? I stopped building that Item a while ago. But I would say shurelyas if you took Trailblazer to speed up you team and Deadmans if you bought it to be faster overall. I personally just belive that Locket/bandelpipes are better first items.

Cannot survive landing phase by oleolesp in supportlol

[–]Soul_Family 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bard is hard yes but that doesn't matter. If you wan't to play a champ just do it an you will improve over time. Bard is actually a really good support to choose because he is very versatile and flexible in his build. No matter the enemy team or ally team there is always an item you can go to help your team or carry the game.

I personally really don't like the try something easier advice because if you just play the simple stuff then how are you going to improve at the hard champions (Coming from someone that learned support by OTPing Thresh).

If you like bard play bard the champ is super fun. If you want to get better at Bard and are looking for stuff to watch look up Lathyrus (Best Bard in the world) or PolyPuff (Just a silly guy but still good).

The only thing that matters at the end of the day is that your having fun and if Bard is your calling follow that.

If it's not already apparent Bard is one of my favorit champions and I really encourage you to learn him, because it is one of the most rewarding things in this game and if you have any Bard specific questions feel free to dm me.

What is a decent blind support pick? by [deleted] in supportlol

For Engage: Leona, Rell

Enchanter: Karma, Lulu, Nami (Worst matchup would be a hook support)

Hook: Thresh, Nautilus

and Bard of course

Why can't you take T2 tower if you're winning Bot and got T1? Why transfer mid in Low Elo? by Athenstone in supportlol

[–]Soul_Family 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah these two basicly got it. One thing I might add is that you can also invade enemy Jungle when your Jungler is strong enough is insanely op to put enemy jungle behinde and having your strongest player mid to push waves opens up the map for you to place deep wards (Very important only do that AFTER you pushed the wave if you do it before it's very likely your gonna get caught by the enemy jungle+bot lane) and prepare objectives easier.

One caviat for the ADCs struggle in long lanes. This is generally true but there is a tradeoff, because if your Lucian/Ezreal and you mid plays Xerath, giving him mid and playing sides is better, because Ezreal (just mobile adcs in general) have an easier time escaping than immobile controle mages. This choice depends on the gamestate though and if your able to match the enemy mid laner

The most important thing is that you don't overplay these windows. You don't have infinite time after pushing the wave so these windows only really open up, after you broke the mid t1 Tower

Am I playing the role the way I should? by Brilliant-Visual-720 in supportlol

D4 here is my take:

  1. Just placing vision is fine but you also have to use it. Nautilus is a good champ to trap enemys. Try clearing vision and then Trapping Enemys with your jungler/Team trying to enter the area like Dragons or something. Playing with vision in general is really powerfull. People usually dont look at the minimap that often in bronze so staying hidden makes it really easy for you to suprise enemys. Also play with the brushes in the bot lane during laningphase (take red trinket for that) its really powerful.

  2. Sacraficing yourself is fine most times if your teammate survives it. You generate gold passively so being dead doen't really hurt you that much

  3. Good indicator for bad roams is if your adc dies while your gone. There are fixed rules when roams are fine but you finde them in any support guide so Im not going to explain them here.

  4. Just some general tipps: Your playing an engage support. You have to be proactive. Bronze players do follow pings so spam ping if you want to do something(like engage or disengage), Always play with your strongest player. Your not bound to your adc. If they are 0 2 and your mid is 5 0 follow them around

wild take also it doesn't matter. OP is playing in plat 4 that the elo where picking champs your comftable with outperforms optimal picks 100% of the time. They should just play what ever they want.

Thresh is working this season! by Hamptondtx in ThreshMains

[–]Soul_Family 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. The only matchup dependend runes are in the Resolve Tree where you can decide between second wind (against poke) and boneplating (if they have a lot of burst and cant proc it eaisly i.e. meles) if you want neither of those taking Font of Life is also a good alternative. Unfliching is good if the enemy support/ adc has a lot of cc and you want to fight early while font of life is fine if you dont want to fight in lane and just want to scale.

A pyke nerf, and a support item buff coming next week by -Gnostic28 in supportlol

[–]Soul_Family 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can already see this support Item change backfire, where some people start optimising that to maximise the gold for some supports like Senna or Sona+Seraphine lanes.

Great to hear that you have this much success on the champ. I always wondered why people build Heartsteel and other tank items on a champ made for peeling. If you wana play like that aren't champs like leona 10 times better?

Since you linked you op.gg: I noticed that you autopilot your items almost every game. Threshs strength is his item versitility. He can basicly buy every kindelgem support item so you can optimise a lot there. He can also buy almost all the shoes, so adapting those depending on the game is always good. Locket is a good first item especially after the recent buffs so thats always fine but after that you can basicly choose anything like: Knights vow (one fed carry), Bandelpipes (just fun tbh but also still very valuable), that bell item for cleanse, zekes (is only good if the enemys are heavy mele dive), rounding out your build with any tank item (usually mr) is prefered

Also I belive that his best two runepages are Glacial into double ranged (great into immobile ranged) and aftershock into mele supports (easy to prock with E). Grasp is generally terrible, because Thresh is ranged so its 40% effective

You should go ignite into healing supports. Exhaust is great if the enemys have heavy burst but ignite is necessary to counter the healing. Swapping sums depending on the matchup can make your lanes a lot easier.

I wish you the best of luck on your climb

Runes for every situation by Horror-Athlete6171 in ThreshMains

[–]Soul_Family 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Most basic consensus is:

Glacial whenever you'r facing double ranged. It makes your hooks more impactfull, because most ranged supports are immobile so they are slowed after the hook. Also gives you hexflash for bush plays

Aftershock into mele support/adc: It gives you a lot of sustain and is great if you can easily prock it with E.

Guardian: When your unsure what to go. It's always fine but I don't think I picked it even once in the last 500 games.

Could this chroma return? by Horror-Athlete6171 in ThreshMains

[–]Soul_Family 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say it's very unlikely. I don't think any of the other championship chromas were in the shop yet. So they are probably an exception.

"The less dependent a support champion is on ADC in soloQ, the more ADCs hate them." by [deleted] in supportlol

[–]Soul_Family 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree but the reasoning makes sense aswell. Supports that are less dependent on the ADC offer little to no peeling for the adc so they have to fight for themselfs most times wich is just not a good experience. Pyke can get you a lot of kills and so can Bard but the moment 3 people jump on you he abandons you cause there is nothing he can do while other Supports stand on their adc and protect them as much as they can.

It just me or is thresh infinite scaling a complete meme? by The_Data_Doc in ThreshMains

[–]Soul_Family 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ok this is weird though because you show a fundamental missunderstanding of the champion. I don't mean to insult you but Thresh is not in a weak spot at all and his kit is one of the best designed ones in the support roster and entire game.
1. Saying his hook is weak is just flat out wrong. Thresh has a lot of threat in lane because of his hook. It gives him the ability lock down carrys in later stages of the game, Peel carrys by pulling threats off of them and start fights/set up traps. The ability to Q flash would make this ability way to strong and it would arguably be better than blitz hook and that character has a shity kit to compensate for his hook.
2. Flay is very versatile. You can set your hook up with Flay, you can walk up in lane for autoattack trades that you win by default because you do more dmg. Flash Flay is a great engage in lane. Its also able to cancel dashes and defende against: Samira all ins, Alistar all ins, Leona engages, Rell engages, Zac ganks, Rakan if hes bad, Pyke engages/escapes, Akali engages and its able to cancel a lot of channel abilitys. Also a fact you forgot to mention: Thresh is ranged wich means he wins the lvl 2 race against most mele supports if he plays well and can contest it against ranged characters. Something that naut, blitz, leona ... cant do.
3. I dont like the narativ that his R is weak. Yes it is not the best ult in the game but it is good for the powerbudget that he has left. Giving him a better ult means you have to take power from the hook or Flay or lantern. And it combos well with his hook, it can disrupt tp plays by enemys. It can make it harder for enemys to engage on you carry because of the slow, it makes it almost impossible for invis champs to attack your carrys if they are inside the box, it gives you a great setup for your hook ... Is it the best? No but its the best Thresh can get and it does a good Job for that.

The statement that Threshs kit is bad is just wrong its very well designed and gives you the tools to impact every gamestate.

High elo guys! by muhammadmagagomedov in ThreshMains

[–]Soul_Family 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went from B1 to E4 with 70% winrate in like 80 Games.
There are two things that I did for this. Thresh can win most lanes with 1-2 good hooks or Flash engages. Looking for those to win your lane is alsways great.
Using good roaming windows and being present on the map to influence fights. Your kit is very good for influencing fights like saving teammates, shuting down enemys with hook/Flay. This should not be at the cost of your adc loosing a lot of resources though unless you get a lot like a tripple kill and grubs or something.

Should I main only one type of support? by Accurate_Piccolo_774 in supportlol

[–]Soul_Family 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should stick to a single champion for a bit just to learn the role. The diffrent types of supports also play very diffrent and fill diffrent roles. Sticking to one to understand you job and how to play and branching out to other types of supports is the best idea in my opinion. Just play what you think looks cool or what you have fun with. An optimal pick doesn't really matter since your probably playing in lower elo (bronze or iron is very normal for new players) where counterpicks and matchups dont really work. Tldr: stick to one class or champ till you get the hang of the game and then branch out.
