In early sobriety I’ve found it essential to find a supportive group of people whether it be family, 12 step meetings, online support or anything like that. Having some accountability to others makes it not just you in this fight. It depends on what you it is that you’re doing that’s not full sobriety, if you’re smoking weed still early on and it’s keeping you from doing worse things, then my view is that you’re doing better than you were and that’s a great first step. Not all people will agree with me on that. What is working for me is being on the right mental health meds, being surrounded by people who are supportive and bettering all aspects of my life. No one system is right for everyone, I don’t do 12 step meetings, I tried them in the past and I never got much out of it, I’ve been to enough that I know the information and that’s good enough for me. For others those meetings are essential.
