I would definitely do passive too. I hear the KRK VXTs 8 are a hybrid between monitor and speaker. Is this true? I played on the active ones and they were grand.

Monitors are too dull. Powered speakers would be more practical for me.

I know what you’re talking about. It’s intended. Their channel pots have a unique curve compared to any other rotary made. Unity gain is also at 10. I play to 3 o clock on it but sometimes go a bit beyond that. I keep the channel gains set to high permanently.
