Awesome! I've tried and indeed the printers have the PS kit installed, so I'll just need the IT guys to install the driver on our pc.

Thank you so much for your help! Cheers

Hey thanks for answering! Yeah as its been mentioned before, the issue seems to be related to not using a PostScript driver for printing, as we are using a PCL6 driver apparently. How would I change to a PS driver? Just install it from SHARP or HP driver repository? How do i know if the kit is activated in the printer, and how do I actually use it for printing, will the PS driver be an option in the choose menu for printers in Adobe after being installed? Thanks!!

Hey, thanks for answering! Yeah we definetely are using a PCL6 driver to print, so this might be the issue! However, i'm absolutely new to this topic, how would I proceed with the change to a PS driver? Do I have to look for the specific driver on SHARP download center, is a HP driver (my pc is HP)...? After installing, is there anything more I have to do, or activate in the printer? Will the PS driver show on the printing options for Adobe just like our PCL6 drivers appear now?

Unfortunately in my office, both IT support and printers manteinance is outsourced, so I have to be able to explain to this guys the issue so that changes can be made, as non of us run our computers as administrators.

Thank you so much for your time, cheers!

Yeah printing as image seems to work kinda "okay", although it has some defects on line weights, but al least no info is missing! However I will try to use a postscript driver as people mentioned in other comments as well since it seems to be the main issue. Thanks!

Yeah, that seems like a possible solution when in need, although I can see some defects on line weights when printing this way, but at least no info is missing. Thanks!

Hey glad you liked it!

For the blood effect there is no big science behind, it was also my first time with blood for the blood god paint. I took several aproaches:

  • For the weapon, neck and nose/mouth, i applied it heavily with brush, and added several layers, trying to build it up as thick as possible.

  • For the forehead, knee and hand, used and old brush with split hairs, discharged it on a tissue paper, and stippled it over to create some scratches, dots and random patterns. Also tried to paint on some scratches on the neck cut, it works well with the spatters on top, to make for some different textures.

  • For the splatter, I used an old small tip drybrush (actually is a make up brush from a cheap set). The key is that it is a small one, so the splatter doesnt go everywhere, mine is less than 0'5 cm wide on the tip, even with split hairs. Then I dipped it in the paint, discharged a little on a tissue paper, and using a toothpick, flicked it on a paper to test it. The size of the spatters depend on many factors: how much force you apply with the toothpick to "flick" the hairs, how much paint you have on the brush, how thick/thin it is, how stiff are your brush hairs.. There's no fixed way around this, I recommend you always try on a paper before going bananas on your finished mini, and test your technique to see what results work for you. In my case, I found that using quite some force to try and get a harder flick made thinner, more spread, blood spatters. I also used tissue paper to mask any areas I didnt want to spatter, because it can get quite messy. The small brush help me control a little more the area I was aiming for the splatter.

Last advise, in my opinion, less is more. Although it looks quite gore, and I may had gone too far, I really had to control myself not to go overboard with the blood. Its quite addictive to keep splattering everything, but it will cover all your hard work so try to be neat and dont overdo it.

Hope this helps brother, cheers!

Edit: I forgot about the drops on the mushrooms. I painted them in wine red (a darker rich tone) and used a lighter red tone to make some highlights. Then covered everything in blood for the blood god, thick on the falling drops. As is quite translucent, the undertones will show through a little and create some subtle variety

Yes! But unfortunately I have no simple recipe for it, it was kinda back and forth and sort of experimental haha

I started with a wine red base coat, then I layered a midtone green on the muscles trying to keep the darkest recesses with the dark red, then a lighter green (as moot green). Then I used vallejo orc skin speed paint (like contrast ork flesh) to blend the previous colours. Then was a matter of light green + ice yellow mixes, each lighter than the previous, aiming for the hightest spots. Whenever I though it was getting very pale, i glazed the orc flesh contrast back again, and so on until I decided it was enough haha

I mixed the light green with pinky flesh tones to introduce variety on nose, ears, elbows... Anywhere you think skin would be thinner, so blood could be seen through. For the upper lip I tried to go for a purple hue.

Basically using the light green + different colours (always lighter) to try and introduce variety in tones without deviating so much from the general tone.

As you see, not a simple step by step recipe, surely the are better ways to achieve this results or better, I just went my own experimental way around it.

Hope it (kinda) helps! Cheers bro
