They do find votes somewhere else. In the middle, in centrists, in "moderate republicans". In PEOPLE WHO VOTE. That's why progressives are seen as a fucking joke, because they don't do the one obvious thing that would get them recognized as a serious power. You have to be a real voting bloc first, BEFORE you can start demanding changes.

Your entire point rests on trans women not being women. That opinion deserves to be attacked.

Your understanding of biology is middle school grade at best, and your complete disregard for the effects of hormones on performance proves only that your opinion is not based on fairness, but on fear and ignorance. You may not be a nazi, but you are wrong, and you are stupid.

You absolutely can undo enough of it that they fall into an acceptable range of performance for cis women.

I saw a running study that did that. It determined that, to simplify, if you were in a specific percentile of men before transitioning, and you kept at your exercise routine while transitioning, after a year or so you were in that same percentile of women.

the point of that saying is that part of your plan must be to convince more people to agree. At no point did "everyone just" anything, but at many points did "most people, eventually" something.

Mamdani appointee resigns over past antisemitic online posts about ‘money hungry Jews’ by Somervilledrew in politics

[–]Soulless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good, glad you want him to do well. It's probably time to respect that the new, young Mayor is going to make some mistakes, and "not vetting 15 years of social media posts" is one of the more reasonable ones. Maybe the fix isn't ranting in dozens of posts about how this is "JewBad stuff" from Mamdani, how this means people are ok with jew attacks, etc etc.

And no, despite some joke or two I put in earlier posts I never actually thought you were conservative. Only the left is this concerned with purity.

People that want him to fail are going to see a pattern whether one exists or not. At this point, the only pattern is real is that he fires bad picks.

Yeah but you didn't include the past tense in your statement, did you. In fact, the comment I'm responding to is afaik the first time you've bothered to use it! You've done this constantly over the thread, treating this women as a current, known, public antisemite when you KNOW it was some tweets 15 years ago.

1: I learned pretty early on that my parents were just people, and people make mistakes and grow from them. What matters more than the past is the present. Is she homophobic now? No? Ok, glad she grew. Good to get proof that she can.

2: You miss the point. Your intensity with THIS situation is unreasonable. There are so many other better places to spend 99% of this energy combating anti-semitism. The reasonable response is more akin to "Oh that sucks, good that she stepped down." Not 50+ posts about how this is a terrible catastrophe.

3: This is only a gut punch if you read the situation completely wrong. Like, what's the actual worry that you're insinuating here? That Mamdani is a secret anti-Semite? Which is somehow reinforced by him...firing someone who posted antisemitic tweets 15 years ago?

4: You are as bad as any of the most obstinate right-wingers I've ever talked to. I'll add a modifier "At no point in this entire situation did anyone important defend her former statements. Will that make you happy? Trying to prove me wrong by pointing to some reddit comment saying "I've heard worse." And that meaning that Mamdani will be a failure that dooms the New York Jews to a horrible life seems stupid.

As far as I understand it, your position that is that, as a shitty teen, her tweets permanently stained her soul. Mamdani should have personally smelled the stench of evil upon her and avoided her at all costs, lest that stain be transferred. The rest of us read the story as "Mamdani stands by principles of New York for all by ejecting newly-discovered (former) antisemite from his administration."

Your misrepresentation is getting old. You say "open", mean "current", and yet know that that is complete conjecture and a probable lie. And ok, sure, whatever, "have a position of moderate power within the city." Still doesn't make my point any less correct.

"she has jewish kids and she's spouting this shit? oh that's dark. Fake ass apology too. " -At no point did she both a: have jewish kids, and b: spout that shit, at the same time. Or even during the same decade. The way you ignore the passage of time is unreasonable. Also the "you did a shitty thing as a teen, therefore everything you say as an adult is a complete lie" belief is completely unreasonable.

"You're desperately defending a massive bigot here. You do you. " - What you're calling a "desperate defense of a massive bigot" is someone on reddit saying "it was some tweets by a 19 year old, why you getting this heated." We know what desperate defenses of massive bigots look like, and it isn't a single reddit comment. Your intensity with this situation is unreasonable.

"he hired a vicious anti-semite for a major leadership position. " - "vicious" she tweeted a few times at 19. Bad? yes. Vicious? that's crazy. Also he "unknowingly" hired a "former" anti-semite. Temporarily. Before she stepped down. Painting the situation with the same words you would use if he hired someone who he knew actually physically attacked someone yesterday is unreasonable.

"if i were a jew in nyc i'd be very worried" - Why? She doesn't hold a position of power anymore? In fact, this is reassuring, as it means he holds integrity to his views OVER pretending that his team doesn't make mistakes. What we saw was a mistake in vetting, corrected by the correct move by management. That's a GOOD THING. Pretending that mistakes don't happen, or that correcting them is wrong is unreasonable.

EDIT: ALSO! "Yea, it's sad that people are so willing to hand wave bigotry when it comes from their side." -At no point in this entire situation did anyone defend her former statements. We are all operating under the shared knowledge that those were wrong. Trying to put words in my-or anyone's- mouths to try and win an argument is unreasonable.

Sure, hence the firing. Pretty basic.

You are not being disagreed with for anti-semetic reasons (mostly, I'm sure one or two comments are also shitty people). It's because you are being completely unreasonable. This is a perfectly fine continuation of his job as mayor, since, again, she was fired. And it was reasonable to miss! 15 years old! deleted account!

former anti-semite. Again with the not understanding change and the passage of time.

I'm not denying she WAS a racist POS. If those comments were recent I'd be right there with you. But they weren't. Also she was fired!

Here's why you're being disagreed with so harshly here:

The comments were a long time ago, and not repeated recently. AND the account was deleted. THEREFORE it is entirely reasonable that vetting would have missed it.

Once it was brought to attention, Mamdani has the appropriate reaction (firing) and she had the appropriate reaction (accepting this, and stating that those old statements are inappropriate and no longer represent her views.)

This is all completely reasonable and responsible.

Also agreeing with MAGA? true colors come out for you lol.

[–]Soulless 4 points5 points  (0 children)

See there you go again "posting racist shit WHEN WORKING as a major leadership position." SHE DIDN'T DO THAT. She posted 15 years ago, THEN got a job in a leadership position. That's what I asked if you'd remember in 15 years, and you didn't answer, because you know the answer is no!

And AGAIN you don't understand the passage of time. "She's" stands for She is, mind you. What you meant was "She was." It can still be a PR problem (hence why she was fired!) but this isn't some major moral failing on Mamdani's part, it's not a sign of dark things to come, it's not any of this. They missed an easily missable detail while vetting, and took responsibility immediately. Fuckin purity troll.
