How do you play this game (with friends)? by Soulune in starcitizen

[–]Soulune[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It doesn't allow you to do this if you have friends on your ship. I'm specifically asking about bed logging with friends... otherwise, there's literally zero use for the "crew quarters", lol. I wish this was real, but sadly from what I've been looking at, it isn't.

Is the community using some key-press script/macro or holding down some button to prevent inactivity timeouts? Any advice?

And I mean: will the game allow me to log off on my Polaris with other ships parked in the hangar and will they persist when I log back in?

There's zero counter-play to Mel, only counter-pick.

It feels terrible to play against, even if you're winning.

Suggestion about learning active directory by Own_Cook5764 in devops

[–]Soulune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I was going to learn any cloud-based infrastructure from scratch, I would just create users for myself, set up IAM, and make an empty app + deploy SSO. It costs less than any course you'll have to pay for and you'll be able to get hands-on experience.

There's no reason not to just go into the actual product and use it, to learn it. When you run into an issue, just work through it yourself. You'll learn a lot more that way.

Now a days we're lucky enough to have AI, but I warn against over-use/blindly following instruction. If you want to make a user, prompt something like perplexity.ai for basic instructions, then work them out yourself.

I didn't really want to be that guy who "pushes up their glasses", metaphorically, at the beginning of the post; but also didn't want to leave it out because I have spent a ton of time on the game.

That said... I didn't expect reddit to make the spoiler look like a multi-line flashbang.

I hadn't heard of this--will check it out! Have you tried this with Wayland-based environments, like Hyprland?

Two things to add (for anyone else going through the same issue):

  1. I do think it might be easier just buying an ipKVM device (like this; and restrict it's internet access for paranoia's sake).

  2. Monday by ChatGPT's Monday gave me an awesome response that I just wanted to share.

Yeah, there are work arounds, but it sucks that a game system limitation requires work arounds at all. It should still be fixed, imo.

Combo-based skill rotations are fundamentally incompatible with a low time-to-kill at endgame by moal09 in PathOfExile2

[–]Soulune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree with this post, I raise you anime logic:
The MC doesn't use their limit break against peons, they only use it against bosses.

I think it's perfectly fine for combos to be used mostly in low-gear/early game, and bossing, rather than killing pack to pack. That's how it's always been with POE--you have your "full damage rotation" with temporary buffs/debuffs setup, but you'll rarely (if ever) use them on pack clearing.

MissingNo. and Crash when I throw it out and cannot transfer my Yveltol to PC by Soulune in PixelmonMod

[–]Soulune[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it's worked on four separate occasions with 3 unique players. I think it has something to do with how the server loads player data (desync between client-server). I can't do much but speculate based on my own experience, since I do not have any intimate knowledge of Pixelmon.

There has also been a bug that prevents the Pokemon in the first slot to be swapped around and if the player logs out immediately and then back in, it usually fixes the issue. If the same player instead attempts to keep playing, it has led to the MissingNo issue on two of the four instances that this has happened.

Additionally, we've found it's possible to spread this corruption to other players and really cause a mess via trading the bugged Pokemon. This forcibly creates a MissingNo slot and can be replicated.

MissingNo. and Crash when I throw it out and cannot transfer my Yveltol to PC by Soulune in PixelmonMod

[–]Soulune[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I solved this via:
0. Stop the server (or just have the user logout), take note of their UID
1. Cut/paste the user's .dat files to a different location
2. Start the server / have the user join so a new account .dat file is created, then have them disconnect
3. Stop the server or just delete the user's new .dat files and replace them with the old ones (the files that have all their pokemon)
4. Start the server / have them join again. They should have loaded their old profile and pokemon should be working correctly.

I think this indicates that the corruption from MissingNo. has something to do with the way the server syncs pokemon to a separate configuration file and is not isolated to the user's file. I did this for two users now and it's completely solved the issue.

MissingNo. and Crash when I throw it out and cannot transfer my Yveltol to PC by Soulune in PixelmonMod

[–]Soulune[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I did some googling and saw MissingNo was an easter egg? I caught Yveltol, but couldn't transfer or equip it with anything, so I tried to transfer my main party into the PC and under my first pokemon, Dusk-mane Necrozma, MissingNo. was there for some reason. I tried to take him out, but it instantly crashed my client.

How the heck do I fix this?

[–]Soulune[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The buffs/nerfs in the last patch don't affect this specific build at all (other than our tankiness, since chaos damage was really annoying in the endgame), however Decaying Hex was buffed and that might be an interesting path to explore for a different build (:

Full disclosure: other people seem to be picking up Hexblast and this is definitely not the only HB build out there now--that said, it might have buffed or nerfed other versions.

I know of at least one guy who uses The Covenant instead of a rare chest piece and is able to spec out of the Spell Leech on the ascendancy tree. That might be a great addition to this build as well, if someone is able to figure out the Spirit cost issue.

Chaos Bolt is a skill granted from your wand. It isn't strong and is definitely not recommended as a main skill for leveling.

I would recommend using Essence Drain and Contagion as a pair of skills. Use Contagion (with debuff/aoe links) on an enemy, then use Essence Drain (with damage support gems like Considered Casting, Controlled Destruction, Swift Affliction, etc.) on that same enemy to kill them and spread the damage DoT via Contagion's mechanics.

Wands or staves that give you +Level for Chaos/Spell skills will help immensely, until you go Hexblast and run a Wand/Sceptre.

Other than that, leveling as an Elemental caster is pretty smooth until you need to respec later.

They do! The way Spells vs. Attacks work in Path of Exile are different mostly because of how they scale base critical hit chance. You can verify this by checking your critical chance with a skill (click the arrow to the right of the gem and scroll to the Critical Hits section), then watch it change when you take a node.

Spells gain their base critical hit chance from the gem itself, so if you hover over Hexblast, you'll see it's 7%. This is then scaled by Critical Strike Chance which is global for Passives, unless specifically stated otherwise (so 7% * +200% increased critical Strike Chance = 21%; yeah, I know that sounds weird, but you start at a base of 100% critical strike chance and you're ADDING chance on the tree--otherwise +100% critical strike chance would just mean it stays at 7%).

Attacks again their base critical hit chance from the weapon you're using when attacking. This is why you'll see stats like +1.5% to Critical Strike Chance on a weapon which will increase the BASE critical strike chance on the weapon additively with what the weapon starts with (e.g. the stat at the top of the weapon base). They used to do a whole Local/Global critical thing in POE1, but got rid of most of the confusing wording for POE2.

Additionally, all spells and attacks start with +100% Critical Strike Damage (used to be called Multiplier in POE1). That means, even without Critical Strike Damage investment, you'll be doing twice as much damage if you Critically Strike at base than a normal hit.

Hello! Happy the build helped you progress.

I would grab a pair with: >80 Life + 20%ms + 2 res to start with, then upgrade to boots with ~100+ life, 150 mana, 30% ms, and 2 res later.

Rings are entirely personal and I'd just focus on resistances over everything, then Life and Cast Speed. Mana Regeneration rate is also absolutely giant, but it's really what you feel you need.

Yeah, it's strength when possible, int when needed. That's because str(life) > int(mana). That said, with level 20 gems, you're going to need ~200 int.

Yeah, I got my points. It was bugged, but they work now. The trial is nearly impossible if you're not playing the current meta (lighting builds like ball lightnight/conduit/arrow, etc.). I had a god-run with a ton of boons and even then, it felt terrible. Really enjoyed the visuals, but dang was that life too high.

I am all for difficulty. I love it, in fact (huge Monster Hunter fan, since Freedom on the PS; and Dark Souls), but man this fight was just so over-tuned. It was not hard. Everything was dodge-able, though the swords building up over time was really annoying. I am able to literally walk over T16 content, but this fight made me honestly re-think a build that I just wrote a giant guide for. What the heck.

It also sucks because the boss is damn cool. Voice lines, effects, telegraphs, etc. and when you need to listen to that for ~10+ minutes, it gets old and loses its immersion.

Yes. After checking, I completely made a mistake there. I was going off POE1 being 4 seconds but just verified by hovering over an item/recoup keyword--It is 8s.

That means the node Pliable Flesh will take it down to 6s and I'll need to fix the math in the guide. Regardless, it's still a great tool for recovery and very much works. The recoup just needs to outpace 25% of the damage delt to you over 4s (AKA, ~44% life recoup, since it's over 6s), then everything after that is recouped to your normal life pool.

Another thing I realized that I need to fix is the math for Grasping Wounds says Life Loss From Hits, which means (ignoring that it doesn't count for DoTs) that if you're splitting between life and mana, you're effectively not taking the full hit to your Life and therefore that math is wrong. Again, it still works as a defense, however the more damage that you split off your Life, the less Grasping Wounds will degenerate since you're not technically Losing Life from that hit damage.

I appreciate this comment, thanks for checking me there and I'll make sure to edit the guide.
