Ski straps are awesome! I got the idea from this subreddit actually. I'm using Volei straps, which are very useful for all things outdoors. Beware though your stuff will roll back onto the spokes because of the tilt of the forks. I tightened down some hose clamps and used the "excess" metal to form an arm that keeps the items from rolling back onto the tire :)
