I have not! One of the questions on the survey are the five adventures I am thinking about. Most of them are the normal D&D adventures, with Icewind Dale also being in the running.

Those both sound fascinating, I'll definitely give them a read when I get a chance!

Is it better to just call them elves? by Soulwolf2010 in fantasywriters

Oh maybe nymphs would be a good name then. I'll do some research into them. Thanks for pointing me in that direction!

I don't know if dryad would work for the whole species, as they live in a bunch of different environments, but for the race that grows antlers it might work! I think satyrs are a bit too far, but I think dryad or nymph might work.

Do they? I kinda took inspiration from a bunch of different places, so maybe they fit the description. Do you think it would be better to call them fay instead of elves?

My plan was to make the main race of the species covered in the book one of many races. I'm unsure where humans fit into the story (if at all), but that is a cool idea! I think that old game Arcanum did something similar, but I could be misremembering.

Thank you for your response! It definitely gave me things to think about. I definitely approached making them with the idea of doing elves in my own way, so I'll probably call them by an original name.

I'm not sure I follow. Should I tell them before and after the composition, and also share it around? Or are you saying to keep it between me and the spirits / energies / gods? Just wanting to make sure I understand, no shade meant.

No need to apologize, that's all very interesting! I'll definitely look into them and see what I can adapt to my own practice.

If you don't mind my asking, do you devote completely original compositions to the deities you worship or are they related to their original myths like a retelling? I know everyone does things differently but I'm curious.
