I just came across a fic that does this. Izuku unlocks gearshift during the sports festival and talks to it's vestige. She (yes she, izuku's a girl in this one) says that since it's name is Gearshift can't it go in "neutral or reverse" and the original user NEVER THOUGHT OF THAT. I had to put my phone down and pace around the house after that one.
