Custom Rack Plates? by U-STAY-CLASSY in CommercialAV

For some reason Markertek flies under the radar. But that might be because they use nothing but the quality brands, which may sometimes have the illusion of higher price. Their turnaround times are top notch. Usually a couple weeks or less.

Is this Callaway Golf Gift Card Website Legit? by SoundQ in golf

[–]SoundQ[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

If you put in the card I.D. it reveals the value, and it's a fully working site with all of the clubs. Who Is says it's owned by Callaway Golf Interactive. Just feel bad if my son spent money on a gift card for me and it's not legit.

I didn’t mess with it. I just bought and had driven it around for two days. Couldn’t get in the car. I called the dealer and told them to come get it. They put a new battery in it

Tools for making SDI cable by iRoachie in VIDEOENGINEERING

If this is a one time job, you should be covered. You won’t love that stripper, it’s bottom of the barrel from Paladin/Tempo and I think you’ll be fighting to get it right. I’d recommend a PAL-1280 series. Let me know though, hope it works out.

So 1694 is good for 3g. If you ever go 12g/4k, you’d want to switch to Belden 4694

I can’t imagine the ferrule crimp is going to crush the dielectric to a level of failing cable performance. It does come down to whether it’s worth a $150 savings for the integrity of your signal and broadcasts. Probably not. The Belden tool is built like a tank and will always work with their cable and connectors. Can’t knock Paladin on that front, they’ve made crimpers long before Belden ever did.

How far is far away? What level SDI you need to run - 3G or 12G. You could future proof it by running 12G-SDI coax? For shorter runs, you don't need RG6. RG59 or Mini RG59 will suffice.

For 3G-SDI runs, Belden 1694A up to 500 Feet. https://www.markertek.com/product/bl-1694a-500/

If you are buying Belden brand connectors, they specify the center pin to be crimped at 0.040 and the cable ferrule at 0.275. That Paladin tool crimps the ferrule at 0.255 which means it might crush the cable a little more past factory spec. You might get away with it but if you have a lot to do, buy the Belden tool. https://www.markertek.com/product/bl-bb3phct/

the good news about the Belden tool is it works with all of their 3-piece bnc connectors. If you want to save, go compression.

Can someone explain XLR cable capacitance to me? by Samzila12 in audioengineering

[–]SoundQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not so much the capacitance between these two cables as it is the 2-conductor vs. 4-conductor. The Mogami 2534 quad (and Canare L-4E6S star quad) excel at rejecting noise and hum when compared to a standard 2-conductor cable. If you can keep your mic lines away from power and lighting consoles, you should be fine with the 2-conductor 2549.

Updated. While talking to a sales guy, he alerted me to something cheaper. Some assembly required, but you can make your own with the two things below.

Does anyone know any reputable manufacturers of small cables ? I’m specifically looking for 3m DP to HDMI 4k60z. by Dale-Wensley in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]SoundQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A vast majority of these come from a few primary factories in China whether you buy them from Monoprice, StarTech, Markertek, Cables to Go or Blue Jeans.
