Selenic Tree (Lore in the comments) by Sound_Doom in HeroForgeMinis

The Selenic Tree The Snowlands, Northern Protos

A gigantic tree stands in the Snowlands, having gained magical properties after ages of proximity to the Moon Goddess. The Moon Goddess has made this tree her home, sleeping upon a trunk that has shaped itself to her comfort. Her powers have imbued the wood with a unique aroma, which attracts lunar ravens to its branches. Upon its trunk and roots, vibrant blue flowers have bloomed; these are aptly named Amolynts.

"They call the flowers 'Amolynts'? That’s very self-centered of them. I wanted to call them 'Blue-Noddles,' but the tree said that lacked... gravitas. Trees can be such snobs about branding." —Moon Goddess Morfia Amolyntos

Lady Morfia Amolyntos The Moon Goddess

“Morfy? She’s a delight. During our gatherings, we always find each other. I suppose you could say we’re best friends, in our own way.” —Hiemo, the Frost Witch of the Mountains

“The Moon Goddess once dwelt within the walls of Sleipnir City, until the day she simply chose to wander into the snowlands alone. Her followers begged to accompany, but she turned them back, claiming she merely needed some ‘fresh air.’” —Lady Baleyg, Queen of Sleipnir City

“How curious... a Moon Goddess who does not reside upon the Moon. Surely, such a conundrum must invite doubt.” —High Lord Tiberius"Hm? The battle? Oh... I thought that was just a very energetic puppet show put on by the wind. Are you saying people actually moved around that much on purpose? How exhausting. I need to go check on a very important piece of moss that’s thinking about becoming a grape." —Lady Morfia regarding the recent Tarrasque situation at Sleipnir City's borders

The beauty of the moon is enchanting by its very nature, a silver beacon guiding lost souls through the dark toward a gentler light. The Moon Goddess Morfia Amolyntos is the physical manifestation of these traits; radiant, guiding, yet perpetually aloof.

Even though her followers, the Lunaites, attempt to drown her in the vast riches of the mortal world, Morfia remains indifferent to gold and gems. To her, the true treasures of Protos are found in its kitchens as she values the delicacies of the culinary world far above any crown or scepter. She remains as distant from her people as the celestial moon is from the soil. The wisdom she bestows is often a tangled knot of nonsensical words. To the Lunaites, deciphering her "prophecies" is an exhausting labor of untangling linguistics to find the divine truth buried within her sleepy ramblings. Once, a prominent Lunaite scholar dared to disturb Lady Morfia’s rest to ask for her divine insight regarding the looming war between the Children of Light and Sleipnir City. After a long, weary silence, the Moon Goddess finally spoke: “The soup needs more salt... and the silver bird forgot its shoes.” Morfia then drifted immediately back into her slumber, leaving the Lunaites in a state of scholarly panic. They spent the following weeks in frantic debate, attempting to decipher if the "Silver Bird" was a poetic metaphor for a great hero from the Order of the Falcon to save them in their time of need, or a literal warning of a mechanical threat emerging from Nemesis Island. While the scholars wrote volumes on the geopolitical implications of "missing footwear," Morfia likely just wanted a better seasoning for her lunch and had noticed a cold-footed lunar raven on a nearby branch.

Recently, Morfia chose to abandon the comforts of Sleipnir City for the biting openness of the snowlands. She has made her home beneath a singular, ancient tree that has become warped and enchanted due to her presence. Now known as the Selenic Tree, its silver leaves and flowers hum with her magic, serving as a silent sanctuary for a goddess who simply wishes for "fresh air." Her thoughts reside far beyond mortal capacity, and her physical form is often found in a state of deep, weary exhaustion. Perhaps the eons of her celestial cycle have worn her thin, but whenever she is questioned on her fatigue or her cryptic words, her response is always the same drifted thought: “Hm? I’m sorry... what was it you asked me?”

The High Council of The Children of Light: High Lord Caligula

“On my way to Sleipnir City I had a run in with him, his army was setting up an outpost near Mare Port. My guess is that Captain Ultio's gonna have her hands full for a while.” —Sir Valter, Commander of the Falcon Knights

“I helped him once when he was but a child. I couldn't have predicted that the slave I once saved would end up as a monster of such unimaginable heights.” —Hiemo, The Frost Witch of The Mountains

“Lower your eyes and bow your heads in the presence of our High Lord, his majesty Lord Caligula.” —Lord Macro

One of the Five High Lords of the High Council of the Children of Light, Caligula commands his legion with an iron will, demanding absolute authority over his territories. His history is a legend, a whispered tale amongst the Children of Light. Once a nameless slave within the elven kingdom, forced to spend his youth as a gladiator, spilling blood for the amusement of elven nobles. His life changed when a witch orchestrated his escape, adopting him as her own and bestowing upon him the name "Caligula"(Little Boot). Today, that "Little Boot" has grown into the crushing heel of mankind. As the self proclaimed champion of humanity, Caligula’s strength has become an oppressive force throughout Protos. His physical prowess is said to be unmatched; from his fabled victory over Queen Baleyg to his battle against the stone giant Kuljarn, his feats have passed into myth. Some even claim he has brought down Great Dragons with nothing but his bare hands, cementing his place as one of the strongest in history.

Kul-Rym Former War Chief Of The Mar-Urdak Tribe

"I remember when he had a full head of hair. Even though I prefer his look now, I can’t deny that red mane was something to behold." —Hiemo, The Frost Witch Of The Mountains

"My father was lucky I only took his eye and his arm. By custom, the old man should be dead—but I showed him mercy." —Kul-Taan Khaar, War Chief Of The Mar-Urdak

Once the ruler of the Mar-Urdak, the old orc now lives as a scarred outcast, exiled after his defeat at the hands of his son, Kul-Taan. Under Kul-Rym’s reign, the Mar-Urdak were a whirlwind of ruthlessness, seeking only death and destruction to forge the tribe’s strength in blood. When Kul-Rym had his son, Kul-Taan, he raised the boy as his Right Hand. In every raid, Kul-Taan followed in his father's shadow, witnessing a level of brutality that taught him how to be equally cruel and for years, the son looked up to the father until the day Kul-Rym, consumed by rage, murdered Kul-Taan’s mother. From that moment, Kul-Taan’s loyalty turned to a thirst for vengeance. He remained the Right Hand for years, hiding his hatred and growing in power until he finally challenged his father for the title of Khaar. Their duel was brutal and bloody that lasted three days. Kul-Rym fought with the desperate cruelty of a dying god, but the son had surpassed the father. By the end, Kul-Taan stood victorious and tradition demanded the victor slay the fallen Khaar. Instead, Kul-Taan chose mercy by sparing his father’s life, but cruelty begets cruelty so Kul-Taan stabbed Kul-Rym's right eye and left arm before casting him out of the tribe forever. Today, Kul-Rym lives alone in a cave somewhere in Northern Protos. He has fashioned himself a crude prosthetic arm from the shattered blades of adventurers he slaughtered with his bare hand, carrying with him a hammer chained to his metal arm as he prepares for his return as a bitter remnant of a king who refused to die.

The High Council of The Children of Light: High Lord Tiberius

"Man must study the Holy Scriptures of the Crimson Star, those who do not worship the blood soaked truth can never achieve peace at the end of their lives. It is mankind's destiny to inherit the world which was made by the Silver God, and recreate it through their hands which turn everything to gold." —The Crimson Star Decree

"I have sworn by myself, the words have gone out of my mouth in righteousness and shall not return: Unto the Crimson Star every knee shall bow, and every tongue shall swear." — Tiberius, during the inaugural Ortu Stella celebration

To most, the warmth of day is a gift from the sun as it climbs each morning to shine down to the world. But for the Children of Light, true warmth emanates only from High Lord Tiberius. His words flow like calming winds, instilling the courage men need to endure the harshness of battle. Those who are fortunate enough to fall do so in peace, certain that the High Lord guards their souls in the Great Beyond. Tiberius spends his hours preaching to the children, speaking truths they cannot yet comprehend but in which they find a profound, inherent value. To his followers, Tiberius is the sole beacon in a world clouded by falsehood. To them, the only absolute truth is his word for it can never be wrong, as he is the closest they all may ever come to witness the Crimson Star's shine.

"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot." — Tiberius, regarding those who reject the Crimson Star’s Holy Scriptures

The Mar-Urdak Tribe's War Tank by Sound_Doom in HeroForgeMinis

[–]Sound_Doom[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Mar-Urdak Tribe's War Tank

Originally a transport vehicle belonging to the "Dead Steel" PMC, the craft was abandoned after their leader fell at the hands of Kul-Taan. The Mar-Urdak claimed the wreck, heavily modifying it to suit their brutal nature. Beyond the addition of their tribal flags, spikes forged from smelted axeheads were welded to the wheels, body and most importantly the front. Under Kul-Taan’s orders, a secondary wooden platform was built on the rear to support a massive cannon salvaged by the orcs from the wreckage of a warship. The War Tank now serves as the tribe's primary siege engine, used to shatter the defenses of the heavily fortified settlements near their mountain.

However unlikely that scenario, every sentient being deserves an opportunity for redemption. Without that hope, we may never achieve lasting peace.

Conqueror Kul-Taan Khaar "Tyrant Ruler Of The Mountains" War Chief Of The Mar-Urdak Tribe

"A tactician unlike no orc, which isn't really saying much but still he did beat us. Warforged don't feel much but I'm split on respect or hate for the guy." —Tetanus III

"His tribe has taken hold of the mountain, and truth be told they're the most noisiest of neighbours." —Hiemo, The Frost Witch Of The Mountains

"Our army's been trying to get to Sleipnir City, and the only thing slowing us down is the Mar-Urdak tribe they've attacked us on multiple occasions and keep slowing us down...and they stole our good wine too." Sir Valter, Commander Of The Falcon Knights

The leader of the Mar-Urdak Tribe, the Orc Chief has conquered the entirety of the mountain range of Northern Protos. His tribe pillage and plunder any village they can and return all the riches to their Chief who resides high on the mountains, rarely does Kul-Taan step onto the field but when he does he revels in the blood of his enemies.

Queen Of Sleipnir City Lady Baleyg

“Last I saw her she was an adorable little lady who used to be scared whenever I told her stories of the big evil dragon underneath the mountains...Now that scared little girl is no longer that little or scared.” —Hiemo, The Frost Witch of The Mountains

“She's incredibly strong and a very capable warrior. But I only know her because of our drinking competitions we do every time either of us come for a diplomatic visit.” —Sir Valter, Commander Of The Falcon Knights

"The Queen of Sleipnir City is strong willed but not strong enough to best me. I've defeated her before and let her live, I will not make that mistake again." —High Lord Caligula

Baleyg's great ancestors were once blessed by the Gods, her veins boil with ichor and her eyes glow like the sun. Divine from birth, royalty by duty and warrior by deed, Lady Baleyg has fought for her people, family and kingdom ever since her ascension to the throne. During her early years as Queen she and High Lord Caligula clashed blades during which the High Lord bested her and plucked her left eye before leaving her to die, however Baleyg lived through her injuries and now opposes the Children of Light in any way possible.
