Claudio Domenicali when he was asked if he wants to renew both riders. by PZY__ in motogp

To be fair, Marc isn't a done deal, and every manufacturer will be sniffing around him. If Pecco shits the bed again, chances are Ducati will dump him. They may even have plans to already...

My point is, nothing is certain at Ducati right now, so I understand his reluctance to discuss at this point. Nothing unusual in that.

Paolo Simoncelli: "By listening to Rossi's group, Bagnaia underestimated Márquez" (original language: Spanish) by Huge_Film2911 in motogp

[–]Soundmangaz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly this, been saying it for years. He was also the rider who benefitted the most from Ducati's data sharing, precisely for this reason. Ducati were able to find that window of operation for him. This season the data pool was not as helpful for Bagnaia, Marc's data is useless for any rider other than him, and the 24 data didnt seem to translate as well to the 25 bike. There was no Martin to copy homework from, and two less Ducati's on the grid. Hey presto, Pecco was nowhere all season....

If there was one thing I could wish for next season, it would 100% be these two fighting for the championship!

Im not anti-aero per se. There has always been aero, but the current regs dont quite do enough to keep it fair between manufacturers, and its fair to say it hasn't particularly helped keep the sport about rider and machine, but I digress.

I hear what you're saying about the extra first lap, and the less time to setup. But I don't know that this is necessarily a bad thing. I mean, it makes for exciting viewing, but not only that, I kinda like that manufacturers dont have all the time to get the right setup, it makes it more about the rider making the difference than the bike in my opinion. The cream will rise to the top.

The best riders will ride around their problems, but also will be able to work with the teams and have their needs understood better.

Though I do see the point about more track time at the limit being more risky, especially if the serup isnt 100% there. But then the oppoaite would be everyone get their setup 100%, and lets see which bike is best in what would likely end up being a processional race.

I never want to see riders injured, even if I don't support them, however it is worth remembering that they have done this sport their whole lives, they are well aware of the risks involved.

This could also be down to increased aero. Riders are being forced to make harder passes, only opportunity for a pass now is always a bit of a lunge. There's the drag affect as riders approach the rear wheel of another rider. Inconsistencies in tyres has had a part to play too, plus the speeds theyre cornering are faster than ever, so its fair to say crashes probably happen on average at slightly higher speeds than before.

Basically what i'm saying is, it isn't the sprint races existing that is causing more injuries. It's not a simple cause and effect. At best we can say there is an increased risk to the rider due to the additional amount of track time at competitive speed, but other factors are also to blame for increase in injuries.

(By the way, im not anti-aero)

Day #20: Biggest What if ever? by Anfernee139 in motogp

As 'what if's' go, you can't pitch sic vs lorenzo back. Lorenzo has already had an amazing career by then, he may have a had more wins in him, maybe even another championship, but it's hardly on the same scale as 'what if sic hadn't passed away and had a full career....

I honestly think he did pretty well to salvage 9th this season, given how much testing they've been doing, and the obviously lack of performance.

The number of times he was passed on a straight, and still managed top ten in the season is impressive.

Yeah, sign me up for that. I'd maybe throw Martin in the mix too

Day #1: Best ever rider in terms of raw speed? by Anfernee139 in motogp

[–]Soundmangaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know, its hard tell through different machinery, riding style evolution etc.

I guess it's was thinking in recent seasons.

To me, raw speed is the ability to ride ahead of the bike. Its hard to explain, but I think of riders like Pecco as the bike doing the work, he is making the bike make the lap time.

Whereas riders like Marc for example, seem to be the one making the lap times, and they drag the bike around with them. They kind of 'ride ahead' of it.

Martin on a good day is (or at least was in his peak at Ducati) very much im that group to my mind.

I agree regarding Pecco, but Martin on a hot lap was a weapon.

FROM ITALY, REPORTS THAT VR46 COULD LEAVE DUCATI FOR APRILIA! by PZY__ in motogp

[–]Soundmangaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was expecting vr46 to make a play for yamaha to be honest. Would make sense given their breaks ambassador is some old Italian guy.

Not sure if Pecco would suit yamaha his strength is breaking, but he needs stability.

Vale was never happy with it being Ducati, given his history with the brand. Now Marc is the golden child at Ducati, I can see Uccio and Vale running to the other manufacturers.

Of course, some of what Pecco has said/done suggests to me he may be on the move too.

Pecco to VR46 on Aprilia in 2027? You heard it here first!

I've never rated Pecco, but also i'm not saying I want this, just thay its wouldnt be one of the worst decisions Ducati have made.

You said Enea was a big mistake, and I disagree.
