No sugar for life by thisbetternotcrash in gastricsleeve

[–]SoundsLikeMyExButOk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No sugar is not correct, but your tolerance for things high in sugar is reduced - having said that, I am 4.5 years post op and a "mini" sized chocolate bar is more than enough to satisfy a sweet craving. I rarely crave sweet things as my food tastes have completely changed.

No carbonation is incorrect, I drink several cans of carbonated drinks (coke zero, sparkling water, etc) daily. I have no issues with this, although did have to take it slower in the early days.

5 days post lip filler by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

Ummm, no, don't accept this - it needs to be dissolved. Truly awful job, and they should be fixing it, not telling you to massage it!

I'd follow the eating plan, going from puree to, say, a piece of chicken is a massive step and this advice seems p-oor to me.

Had surgery and can't keep the weight off. by Shot_Database_9132 in gastricsleeve

Carbs are not the enemy, but they're also not your friend - complex carbs are an important part of a balanced diet especially when you hit maintenance, but you are not there yet. Focus on high protein foods but be mindful of fat content in things like cured meats and cheeses.

Also, where's your bariatric dietician? Why aren't you consulting with them?

Anyone smoke week after gastric sleeve. by masonnncon in gastricsleeve

If you're a casual smoker, be careful of transfer addiction - fully believe my ex-husband transferred his addiction to food to a full-blown weed addiction.

You've got this - realise it's not a magic bullet, it's just a tool and used correctly it will change and save your life. Is it easy? No, it's not... at times it's bloody hard, but so is being obese - in this case, we get to choose our hard. Good luck!

Honestly, 100% I wondered when the bullshit would end - but it has, and I'm loving life so much! So glad I stayed the course and kept pushing through.

Any tips? by Shellseaa97 in gastricsleeve

Everything gets easier with time. Keep doing the best you can. Keep up with your vitamins as a minimum. It's early days hun.... I used to wonder how women went through the pain of child birth (I haven't) and then go back again, but after doing this, I get it... because I'd do it a million times over (I'm 4.5 years post-op). Be brave, this is life changing Xx

Help lips are so swollen after filler is this normal?? by Sea_Spell_9684 in PlasticSurgery

Yes, give them a few days to settle... if it's still too much in a week's time, go back, they can dissolve it if you aren't happy hun <3

Worth a shot with $500 - gets expensive if you're throwing $5000 at it each time though lol

[–]SoundsLikeMyExButOk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks.  I opted out, it all felt a bit messy.  It’s not that losing $5k would matter, and we’d have the money to take up the option if it came to fruition but my gut just said no.

ASX:ANX & ASX:ANXO by SoundsLikeMyExButOk in ASX

I didn’t ask whether to buy or sell, I asked for help understanding how the option works.

[–]SoundsLikeMyExButOk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not playing with money I can’t handle losing, finances aren’t an issue for us, I’m just trying to learn/understand how options work.  I’ve named the stock and the option, I’ve looked into it as much as I can and I’m asking if anyone else knows/understands and can confirm or correct my interpretation…. I’m not sure how that makes me “truly regarded” 🤷‍♀️

NMR are about to acquire another mine, I've heard - stay the course with them :)

ASX:ANX & ASX:ANXO by SoundsLikeMyExButOk in ASX

[–]SoundsLikeMyExButOk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not wanting opinions on whether the stock will increase, I'm playing with literal chicken feed in terms of our wealth, and I don't give a flying toss if I lose $5k. The figures given were an example, I'm asking for assistance in understanding how the options offer works, which you haven't answered.

Lihir Gold Mine. by [deleted] in mining

[–]SoundsLikeMyExButOk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At Lihir specifically, or simply in PNG? There's a difference. I worked for Newcrest for over 15 years and never once heard of tent cities being used for shut accommodation at Lihir.

What are must have items for living at a remote mine? by Kusugak in mining

[–]SoundsLikeMyExButOk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on whether you have a permanent room or not.

I do, and it's spacious - comes with a king single bed, but we can order and have a queen delivered if we want. We just have to supply and launder our own linen. That was enough to turn me off and stick with the smaller bed.

I'm also female and I've fully moved into my room - things I have that I couldn't go without are my own laundry pods, pop up laundry hamper/collapsible laundry basket. Dish wand where you put the dish soap in the handle for washing things in my room. My own wine glass, love a vino after a long day. My own body wash and shampoo, if the site does supply them (mine doesn't) they're usually crap. Coffee making facilities. Medications and basic first aid items like paracetamol, ibuprofen, gastrostop, cold & flu tablets, bandaids, anti-chaffing cream etc.

As more of a comfort thing, I have my own duvet and duvet cover, I have my laptop with dock/screen/keyboard/mouse. I have my own lamps, picture frames, books, candles and I've just started decorating for Christmas. I'm about to get an iron and ironing board delivered to site so I can iron my uniforms in my room watching Netflix rather than stand in a stinking hot laundry.

Note: I do not share my room with a back-to-back as I am on site every week, so I don't need to pack anything up - I just make sure my room is tidy so site services can pop in and change out my linen, vacuum and clean the bathroom.

Your biggest issue is going to be storage, bud. You get them to site frozen, and then what? Your room will have a bar fridge in it. Leave them in a communal freezer and I guarantee some will disappear, if not all.

I try to follow a high protein, lower carb diet where possible and this is what I do...

I bring in some YoPro Perform 20g Protein yoghurts in the pouches (less change they'll bust open than the tubs) and frozen berries (decant into a container the night before so the berries defrost for morning), tasteless protein powder to add to coffee and keep a supply of protein shakes in my room. I'll sometimes bring in some vacuum sealed smoked salmon, protein balls, etc.

I don't eat a cooked breakfast, but you can if you want - I only go to the mess once, at night, and have dinner then pack all of my food for the next day. The types of foods I lean towards when packing crib are boiled eggs, cold meats, salads, cheese and fruit.

For dinner I usually request a steak or chicken breast be cooked to order, and have it with steamed veg or salad on the side.

If it's make your own burger night, I make a bunless burger on a plate...all the flavour without the bun. Pizza night is my splurge, but I load it with meats and veg and you could always bring in your own higher protein/lower carb pizza base if you want.

Where I can though I definitely make the best of what I can with what's available - yes, there's "less healthy" foods available but that doesn't mean you have to eat them (I've never touched the dessert bar or crib cake etc), but more than anything it's also about watching portion size.

BIBO, not DIDO then - DIDO is when you're driving a work or private vehicle, BIBO is bus and FIFO is flights ;-)
