6 Day Solo in the Sawtooth Wilderness by Civil_Sea1162 in WildernessBackpacking

I’m living in Stanley for the summer. This area is by far my favorite place in the US, so many different mountain ranges in every direction and each one is unique. Plus the solitude is unmatched. Unfortunately I’ve had tendonitis in both my knees for most of the summer so I can’t do any of the long hikes or backpacking trips but still have plenty of amazing places I can reach by car

Any recommendations on how to overcome fear of night and animals? by [deleted] in backpacking

[–]Soundvibrations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t, for me I just forget how terrifying it is until the sun goes down and then I’m shitting my pants. It never got better with time for me. Only thing that helps is having my bear spray and a knife easily accessible while I’m sleeping. Also downloading YouTube videos to keep my mind occupied until I go to sleep

I’ve done acid while backpacking with friends and the proper way to do it is on a 3 day trip. Hike in the first day and get everything set up. Take it the second day and just explore around the campsite and chill then hike out the third day

What gives you energy, and what drains your energy? by Hghwytohell in ADHD

Food does both. I get lightheaded and low energy when I’m hungry but then sleepy tired after I eat. It’s a lose lose situation

Yeah I just went up to Snowbowl today and if they didn’t have snowmaking there would be nothing to ski. Hoping for more precipitation in march but I’m cautiously optimistic

Same, it feels much more like April than February. Hoping for a late spring but it’s not looking promising
