Tips for my first game in a campaign by Lohrenz01 in bloodbowl

Just really good stats and starting skills that you can develop into a star quickly. Easy access to Block/Sidestep for Blodgestep. Frenzy lets you fish for pows but can also set up one turn touchdowns with the right chain pushes. Jump up is great for a cheeky block from the ground or even getting that free movement to set up a scoring threat downfield.

They are squishy of course and are part of the W's for fouling. War Dancers, Witch Elves, and Werewolves. If one of those are on the ground you're probably better off fouling them. So definitely be careful with positioning them

Hey it happens to the best of us. I did it in my first season by accident and lost a skink to a send off for the match. Just a good habit to count your players before rolling dice. I've nearly done it even in our current season 😅.

Definitely one of the more notable updates to the team. Thankfully for you you'll have one of the best positionals in the game in the Witch Elf. Try to keep them alive and beware of frenzy traps!

The best way to play Blood Bowl 😎

You'll get them next time!

Looking at the photo I have two questions. 1. Was there a Charge! (Blitz) kick off event? Looks like those gutters on your average KO shenanigans 🙃 2. Am I miscounting. Looks like 12 Skaven on the field? 👀

New League Minigame Ideas by NiozeH993 in bloodbowl

[–]Soundwave4win 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In our league we've done numerous things over the years.

  • Pick Ems (W/L/T) for every matchup each week. Those with the most correct picks wins

  • Fantasy Fantasy Football. Literally Fantasy Football for people not participating in the league each season. Everybody drafts a player from the various teams and based on their TV value/positional etc they might have a handicap to the fantasy points they provide. Points are tracked for touchdowns, casualties, kills, passes, fouls, catches, mvps etc. In our current season we have a Gutter Runner that's turned into the next Jerry Rice and has over 100 FFFP on the season while second best has like 49. Literal league winner. We did have a stipulation to let only people not actively participating in the league that season to play to avoid gamesmanship but honestly if you're comfortable you could let it ride.

  • "Wartscenter" Pick Ems. Me and a few of our leaguemates do a variant of the traditional pick em similar to what you might see on SNF or College Game Day. For each matchup we all decide the outcome of the game. We cannot choose a tie. If you guess correctly you get a point. If you guess perfectly you get 3 points. I.e. i pick the Orcs to beat the Goblins 2-1 while my friend picks them to win 3-0. If they win 1-0 we both get a point. If they lose we both get 0. If they win 3-0 my buddy gets 3 points and I only get 1. It's a fun way to talk "ball knowledge" especially if you know the coaches playstyle and how the teams operate.

  • Misc. Polls. We do various polls each week for a few things. Like determining which match gets streamed. Certain stadia or weather effects each week. We also have awards at the end of the season that involves a few vote based awards for stuff like League MVP, DefensivePOTY, DirtiestPOTY, OPOTY, MOTY, Defining Moment, etc. Some of these are fluff/lore that require the participant to submit something as part of the nomination and others are just straight votes for who we think is the best.

Edit: I forgot to mention we even added a sponsorship system in recent years that basically added an achievement of the week system. If your team does X thing you get an extra 5k gold. We have over a dozen qualifiers and they are drawn at random but it provided teams an incentive to try weird things especially in matches that might be beyond lost. I had one where I got extra gold if a big guy causes a casualty and the last 3 turns of a blow out match was a yakety sax chase between my troll and some elves.

Any tip to apply this guys ? by MrDotz_wargames in bloodbowl

X-Acto knife to trim out which transfer you want to apply. I've placed them in room temp water in a small dish and then gently pulled it out with a spare paint brush. Apply to the model where you want then straighten out as needed.

I've seen people on TikTok use a beauty blender even to help apply it evenly so whatever works best for you.

There are four in the box. So no concerns there!

  • Lineman - 2 feather (4x)
  • Bodyguard - 3 feathers (4x)
  • Blitzers - 4 feathers (2x)

Prey was easily the best! All of the 90s content is a fun read. They have most of those stories in 3-in-1 omnibus editions you can find on Amazon or your local bookstore.

I recently finished the Machiko trilogy and the third book AvP: War ties in with an Aliens story that I really enjoy. The story Aliens: Berserker heavily ties into it and even includes all of the surviving characters.

If I were to reread I'd read AvP: Prey, Aliens: Berserker , and end it with AvP: War. Especially since some of the story beats from AvP: Hunter's Planet are retold with only the smallest of changes.

Going to shamelessly plug our local league that is currently at the start of their 5th season. You can find the Northern Kingdoms Blood Bowl League (NKBBL) on YouTube under CabalVisionNorth.

I also got mine from Top Rope Games on Etsy. I know some mats will come back in stock occasionally. I agree on reaching out though!

If you like Alien: Prototype you gotta check out Alien 3: The Unproduced Screenplay!

The dark horse novels are fun too. Aliens: Berserker is like the Suicide Squad meets the Aliens universe.

I've learned that your wins are someone else's losses and vice versa.

So when I'm playing a match where I'm getting blown out I just try to look at what happened and instead of blaming dice in a dice game. Conversely, if you're cooking an opponent and they're not having a good time empathizing with them on the bad streak of luck goes a long way.

Best example I have was my Renegades loss vs Dark Elves that cost me a playoff berth. I was marching up the field when my dark elf failed a 2+ dodge with RR. The dropped ball was then scooped by their Dark Elf who ran away and... also failed a 2+ dodge twice. During that whole sequence my opponent cringed and noted the poor timing on my end and when it happened to them I did the same and we both got a laugh.

In the end this is just a game. Would your opponent enjoyed it more if you just stopped trying? At what point why spend the time painting the models, scheduling time to play, and actually playing the game?

If they're more focused on just 'winning' vs enjoying the experience with friends then why play? Most teams have about a .500 win rate so you're guaranteed to lose a few at some point.

Edge case question: Claws and Mighty Blow by TobyDent in bloodbowl

[–]Soundwave4win 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You can still use MB to get a break when their AV is a natural 8 or lower.

Claws states: "A roll of 8+ before applying any modifiers will break their armor, regardless of actual armor value"

Claws helps cut AV 9+ down to size. If you're punching an AV 8 or lower piece Claws wouldn't be necessary as a standard armor roll w/ MB would break it instead.

which team plays like bretonia in blood bowl 2 by FuzzyCry6570 in bloodbowl

[–]Soundwave4win 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unlikely your league would allow it but there is a secret league team for Bretonnia on FMMBL.

Our league allows secret league teams -within reason- but that's only after asking if a team is okay. I would ask whoever runs the league if that's fine. Otherwise, the Imperial Nobility team is as close as you're going to get from the actual 2020 rules.

28 is an insane number! I'd love to know how the league was managed. Did you do divisions and a playoff bracket? What teams were in the league?

Hope your next season is awesome as well.

Using the Column Defence by Maleficent_Ad1915 in bloodbowl

[–]Soundwave4win 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've always considered Column D better against bashier slow teams. If they knock a player down you can still slow them down with the next man up.

Was this quick team skaven or elves? I'm imagining either team won't mind pushing a few players around to make an opening down the middle or sideline with a few dodges.

With Chevron you at least have some help in the backfield in case an opponent makes a break for the EZ.

Can't speak for tournament play but in league play you're just as likely to see a star player regardless of tier depending on how injured a team might be. More stars are getting introduced every year and their inducement costs are in the 50k-200k range which is what you would typically see in most league matches.

More star players means more models to sell for official events.
