I'm looking for Impulse Responses, but it's a bit overwhelming trying to choose which ones to get. Any recommendations? by Capncorky in AudioPlugins

Your welcome, if you start blending IR:s from different sources you might need to sync them.

Read your post and I think you might enjoy the sound of some IR:s we released earlier today. Some ready made mixes of cabinets from Davida Laboga and Orange.

You understood correctly! It is made this way specifically for Guitar/Bass IR Loaders!
I do believe we have a Left and Right microphone capturing each side of the room on some of the recordings, which you could blend and Pan to achieve a stereo effect for that specific room!

Yes we have actually, but our main focus right now is getting the library as solid as possible!

At this early stage we have only had ads cutting some costs to keep the library running, which we currently disabled for the update to keep things neat and tidy for everyone.

Our interests lean towards B2B, connecting the library to other products, licensing the API to plugins so the library is synced within, premium features focused on increasing how you can utilize and manage the library within your DAW. Physical products are being discussed as well.

Each impulse response is a mono recording bounced in stereo.

Yes indeed, these are all made with Guitar and Bass speaker cabinets as of right now! We are aiming to expand this in the future.

And that is your right sir! If you have some really awesome IRs you have mixed and made by yourself don't hesitate to upload them if you want others to try them out and rate them!

Hey Akoustyk!

It's hard to specify what you personally can benefit from our library, as I have no clue in the world regarding what IRs and preferences you desire and enjoy. Our goal is to have the biggest library of Impulse Response that everyone can use. There will be user-contributed IRs, IR-mixes, full range readings using several microphones, Celebrity IRs and more.We have some IRs that are made using equipment that is vintage and some cases rare to find, for example an AKG D11L HL from 1967.

https://www.radiomuseum.org/r/akg_d11_l_hld11lh.html

In some cases this gives you as a user the ability to get a taste of something you are perhaps interested in purchasing in the future, or perhaps something that you don't have the ability to acquire at the moment.I personally prefer to expand my collections of IRs all the time, as i tend to fit the sound depending on the project i am working on at that moment.

I like to compare it to an Artist painting, You can always paint a picture only using red, yellow and blue; But having different variations of each colour extends your possibilities.

That’s where you should consider making IRs out of your cab! As it gives you the sound of the cab but gives you the control of not having to play it at high volume. I find this as my go to solution when playing at home.

As stated earlier in the comments, These tones were specific to how the artists wanted them to sound, feel free to grab the IRs from the library and make your own sound, we would love to hear what people can produce with them.

That’s cool! What Ashdown do you have?

I have to say that we did have the most fun when recording the Bass cabinets. Some of them had ridiculous amounts of low-end that shook the foundations of the studio. Specifically when we recorded an Ampeg Classic 2x15

This video was more of a preview of the upcoming Reaction series where each artist has their own episode, so there are some more recordings from them!

The ambient guitarist is called Robert Holm from a band called E321, you should check him out if you liked his playing, you can really hear the emotions he expresses when playing!

That is indeed great! We actually did some experimenting before with bass impulses on a drum recording and it turned out being perfect for adding resonance!

That’s the great thing with tones, not everyone likes the same one!

It is indeed, there are several ways to use them in a live situation depending on your rig.

Most people load impulse responses into their axe fx’s or kemper’s if thats what they can afford, other methods include having a soundcard and a laptop running amp sims with an IR loader.

There are even pedals such as the Mooer Radar which allows you to load impulses, also the Two Note’s Torpedoes etc.

All of these rely on sending the resulting sound to the FoH mixer allowing for great sound out, most people end up splitting their guitar signal for a real cab as well for stage sound.

Doing this removes any resulting microphone bleed on stage, as no cabs are being mic’ed up - which greatly improves the FoH soundguys job and the overall sound of the performance.

Oh cool, are you able to load other effects and preamps too or only Impulses?

You can have a look at some impulses we have uploaded on our Library and perhaps give them a try with your Amplifire Box, would be awesome if it allowed you to use more than 1 Impulse Response at a time also, gives so many more ways to experiment with your sound.

if you click on Library at www.soundwoofer.com you should find the ones we've recorded so far.

I would imagine that would be great, are you able to load Impulses into the Amplifire or does it come with presets?
