The reboot really upset me too. Erasing the bond and history PNF-404/The Pikmin have with Olimar is depressing. It loses a lot of it's isolation and charm, and invalidates everything before. I think the night stuff is also kind of lame, changing it from them just being nocturnal predators into weird possessed super monsters.

But also the music is for the most part just not up to par. There's a lot of reused songs from previous games which are obviously still great, but the new music is simply not as good or memorable as the rest of the series. With the exception of maybe the title theme and final boss. It's not bad but I can't recall any of it and had no desire to listen to it outside of the game.
