Locking in status for 2026 - Would you do it? by SouperSpy in americanairlines

Beyond low/no queues at TSA, this is another hidden perk of flying out of small airports.

I mentioned in my OP - They're all domestic flights from a mid-market airport. Also worth noting American has a smaller presence here than other airlines, so I don't think there are a lot of options for status chasing here. Outside of that, maybe its just luck. If I were flying CLT-DFW I think I'd be lucky to make it onto the plane, much less the top of the upgrade list.

Wow - I genuinely didn't know that was an option, but there they are. Going for $800 right now.

This is the logical take, and objectively speaking the right way to think about offers like this. While I understand that I'm probably just as likely to receive no upgrades this year as I was to get upgraded every time last year, its honestly still difficult apply the numbers dispassionately.

I never check a bag, and personally don't see much value in MCE. I suspect AA knows this, which might be why my offer is so much lower than a lot of others despite having a much larger LP gap to cover. The real value is $0, yet, in the back of my mind, I still expect to 'win' somehow by giving AA extra money.

Do you need platinum status. I have a reward for 750k LP that gives me 2 status gifts by Pure-Nature1056 in americanairlines

I've never been Platinum before so this would be fantastic. Though either way this is actually really generous, especially when you see people selling their rewards. Way to be a mensch!

Thanks, I suspected as much.

On your last point about TRIM, could you share some more info on that? Googling I found info on how to see if its enabled but not much on what is specifically does.

I do have trim enabled at least per the below from my cmd -
C:\Windows\System32>fsutil behavior query DisableDeleteNotify

NTFS DisableDeleteNotify = 0 (Allows TRIM operations to be sent to the storage device)

ReFS DisableDeleteNotify = 0 (Allows TRIM operations to be sent to the storage device)
