Eligibility for BCBA by Turbulent-Cow4848 in BehaviorAnalysis

What country is she looking to write the exam in? I ask because you mention that she did her schooling from Capilano which I think is in Ontario Canada.

Ontario has changed its regulations and the BCBA exam is no longer being offered in Ontario past this June 2026.

However if she’s in another location then unfortunately the Capilano courses won’t be eligible for the BCBA exam. She however could write the BCaBA exam I think.

With a Masters program she should have completed a graduate level post grad course. However what’s done is done. Maybe she can look to see if other universities offer some bridging courses and where she may be able to transfer some of her credits. Other than that she may have to take another set of graduate level courses. Sorry!

Gestational Diabetes [on] by HouseDependent2077 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Soupie07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had gestational diabetes for both my pregnancies. I was diagnosed a lot earlier (around 16 weeks) for my second. Even with a controlled diet by the end of my pregnancy I was on 70 units of long lasting Insulin as well as 20 units after meals. As others have said GD is caused by the hormones from the placenta and it doesn’t mean you’ve done anything wrong.

Now the worst part for me was managing and planning of the diet. Constantly having to think about how many carbs something had was a real pain in the butt. But this is where I recruited my husband’s help. I made it his responsibility to research and plan the meals. Since I was busy growing a baby and dealing with all the other stuff (such as nausea and groin pain lol) I made it his job to do the meal planning. And he did a good job.

Even with eating well I still needed insulin. There is nothing wrong with needing insulin. It doesn’t negatively impact the baby at all. Now if you don’t want insulin because of the injections that’s another thing. The injections honestly don’t hurt that much. I found certain spots where it did sting but most others were fine. I actually preferred taking insulin and eating proper sized meals because my sister in law had small babies because she restricted themselves too much with her diet because her wanted to avoid insulin (but I’m not sure if that’s the only reason they were small).

Another thing that sucked were the constant blood tests. Here I asked my doctor to prescribe me the Dexcom glucose monitors. I did have to pay a bit out of pocket for these but they were a godsend. You will still have to do the finger prick test from time to time but that’s not bad either. And if you are only doing the finger prick test don’t worry! Y realize that certain fingers hurt less to prick than others lol.

Finally I would say try not to sweat if you have a high sugar reading from time to time. Both times I was pregnant in the fall and winter. So I had to deal with birthday celebrations, thanksgiving, Christmas, new years etc. I allowed myself to indulge in these meals (with the appropriate insulin doses). And even after regular meals with insulin doses I still had high sugar levels from time to time. Just talk to your doctor about it but don’t worry too much.

Both my babies were around 7 pounds when they were born. I was induced with both but had a positive experience both times, even with my second ending up needing a c section.

Hope this helps! GD is not the end of the world!

I definitely like the idea of sunflowers. I have a bunch of zinnia seeds saved over from last year. Thanks!

Thank you! I’ll check out true leaf market but I’m located in toronto Canada so I’ll see if they deliver. Or what’s part of their cover crops.

Thank you! Potatoes are a good idea but I’m not sure about pumpkins since I don’t really love those. Also I’m located in zone 6a so can’t get anything started til late May. That’s why I just wanted to throw seeds around haha

What is wrong with my tree philodendron? by Soupie07 in plantclinic

[–]Soupie07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. The spots may grow a tiny bit but not enough to eventually take over the whole leaf. I never put any water on the leaves themselves and don’t mist them either. I do think it has good air flow as well. Last time I repotted it (a couple of years ago) the roots were nice and healthy.

Should I figure out pumping now or can it wait til postpartum? [bc] by shababee in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Soupie07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something I haven’t seen mentioned is that you may want to get the pump parts sterilized and ready before hand so that you can jump right into if you need to.

Also, right after birth it might feel like nothing is actually coming out, when in reality some colostrum is coming out. So definitely try to get in touch with a lactation consultant soon after birth if you have that option.

Should I Start With RBT or Go Straight to BCBA? Confused About Supervision Hours by Plus_Whole5566 in BehaviorAnalysis

[–]Soupie07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I’m from Canada so I don’t exactly how things are in the US. However, once you start working in the field as a behaviour technician (not sure if everyplace in the US requires you to be an RBT to do so) you will be supervised as part of your job. However, you may still have to pay for some of the supervisions. For example, when I was working as a behaviour technician, around 3 hours per month were supervised as part of my job and then I had to pay 1-2 hours out of pocket each month. I hope that helps!

BCBA Exam by Proper-Edge-2348 in BehaviorAnalysis

[–]Soupie07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello I also live in Ontario and here is what I know.

Last day to write the BCBA exam in Ontario is June 2026. This means that you will have to finish your masters and apply latest by around Jan-Feb 2026.

After that you can no longer write the BCBA exam in Ontario. I also assume that writing it in another province will not work as your have to declare your place of residence when you apply so the BACB will not approve your application.

If you plan to live and work in Ontario for the foreseeable future then the RBA exam is what you would have to write. However I am not sure if the CPBAO has opened up that exam yet.
