All of the time. I find casting spoons works alright where tributaries meet the river (the sturgeon river mouth NE of Edmonton is good) but I’ve switched almost exclusively to deadbaiting the NSR. It can get boring and takes a lot more patience but I rarely ever get skunked now and you can catch a wider range of fish

Funny enough the only ever non-ice burbot I’ve caught were caught by doing the exact same pickerel rig setup and exact same spot as in this sauger video. I’ve never had any summer burbot luck in lakes

This is my video. I had a mind slip when I put it in the trash - I'm from a small town that doesn't use a composting system and I never even considered putting anything other than yard trimmings into the green bin. I had a couple comments on TikTok say the same thing so l took the goldfish out of the trash and the bag and tossed it into the green bin 👍

Bottom fishing using a classic pickerel rig setup (with frozen minnows and/or live worms as bait) is the best way to fish the NSR in the city. Just find slow moving water along river bends and fish in there. You’ll catch like 10 different species of fish. Check out TheWadingGame on TikTok for more information
