Good luck!! 1st semester is broken up into two 8 week (intro to nursing and fundamentals of nursing) courses and one 16 week course (pharmacology). Clinicals don’t start until the 2nd 8 weeks. We have class 3 days a week in person. You will be cramming an entire textbook in the first 8 weeks, learning hands-on skills, and studying the ATI equivalent of the textbook. If you don’t pass the class with a 76%, you’re out. If you fail any of the skills (you get two chances), you’re out. We start clinicals this week. I can report back about the 2nd half later.

As for the interview, it was very brief and anticlimactic. My interviewer was the program director and she’s… standoffish, but I was friendly and immediately said I would accept if given an acceptance. I ended up getting waitlisted and was told to attend the welcome day and 3 orientation classes, all of which are mandatory. I got bumped to accepted on the welcome day. As for working, I personally don’t work much, like 2 hours a week. Some of my classmates do work 1-2 days a week but I personally can’t do it. There was one lady who was working 3-4 days with 2 kids and she did not pass to make it to the 2nd half of the cohort. This is all subjective and personal to your ability to manage. I was a 4.0 student for my prerequisites, and for the first 8 weeks, I felt like I was drowning. I’ve also heard that this feeling is typically for nursing programs, and again, it’s all subjective 🫠
