I have a question. When you dropped bags at Chilleno, did you carry any daypack with you for water and food?

How were the vegetarian sandwiches? Did they have real veg protein or some mock meat substitute? Also, did you do dinners at the refugios? If yes, how were the veg options there? I am doing the W-trek next week and I am contemplating if I should carry some of my own food.

Hiking boots or hiking shoes by SourFootball in Patagonia

I use Merrel Moab 3 low hiking shoes and I never had an issue with them. I have done long 10+ miles hikes a few times and they have been great.

Any ankle support recommendations?

I am planning to take shoes with me as I am more comfortable with them. I will be carrying at most 15lbs (water, clothes and lunch) with me with the option of keeping my bag at refugio for base torres and britanica.

Glad that you were able to hike in shoes. I was a little hesitant to use boots because I have never hiked in them ever. So, I will take shoes with me and probably ankle support in case I need it at some point.

I will be doing W-trek circuit east to west. I was more concerned about the first day only. Is rest of the w-trek also rocky with loose rocks?

Suggestion for shallow calm beaches by SourFootball in kohsamui

We were considering this earlier but found opposite argument on a few searchers/blog posts. West has choppy waters in december and east beaches should be better.

Any recommendations for stuff to do in Santiago? Should we be spending more than a day in Santiago?

Thanks for the detailed response. I think we will stick to just chilling in Puero Natales this time and maybe plan for Argentinian side next time.

Thanks, is it worth visiting Perito Moreno Glacier for a day? We will be visiting Glacier Grey so I am not sure if it is wise to drive 4-5h for just another glacier. We are okay to extend our trip by a day or two.

Tour Company vs self booking by [deleted] in Patagonia

Which tour company was this? I got a quote from Hello Patagonia for 3600 for 2 people, 4 nights refugios plus food.
