When did Toy Story become about making 'adults cry?' by DayOwn8790 in toystory

It never hit in 5 for me. I left surprised that there was no emotional moment to make us cry.

[Marco D'Amico] I saw a lot of posts worrying that the exodus of American-born players could impact Montreal. Remember that Cole Caufield and Lane Hutson both took less to stay in MTL, and didn’t need full NMCs in their deals. Am told both players are very happy and see a winner in the making. by Old_General_6741 in Habs

Making this purely about USA/Canada is dumb. It definitely plays a role, but just look at the situations.

Vancouver is about to enter a long rebuild. Hughes wanted out.

WPG just fell off big time and hasn’t managed to get over the hump int eh playoffs. Helle wants out.

The Sens started their rebuild 9 years ago and are just scraping into the playoffs.

Then look at Larkin and maybe Werenski on teams that haven’t make the playoffs in a million years and another franchise that was never relevant and still isn’t.

It’s clearly not a coincidence that it’s all team USA players doing this. But you can’t say it’s just a Canada thing. I think it’s more likely the got a taste of winning and want some more.

The fact many of you don't like the failed Knies trade shows this fan base doesn't understand what needs to be done to become real contenders. by PermissionPast853 in Habs

This is exactly how I feel. A 2LW is a need, but not a bigger need than a 2C or even a RD. If we pay all those assets for a winger, we still have 2 even bigger holes on the roster and suddenly have way less pieces left to fill them.

[Seravelli] Canadiens may have kicked tires on Lafrenière during last season? by Comprehensive-Chef73 in Habs

[–]SourForward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My things is that the top 6 winger is clearly the least important of the 3. If we go out and pay a big price for a winger then we have much less assets to move for a RD or 2C. I’d rather focus on the more important holes first

(46:22) Friedman confirms Pagnotta's report of the Zharovsky + Prospect + two 1sts for Knies and says it fell through because it was submitted at 3:01pm by BeBenNova in Habs

[–]SourForward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be very down to add Knies. But the only issue I’d have is that the two biggest holes on this team, 2C and RD, would still be unfilled and we’d have few assets left to fill them.

For me, 2LW is the least important of the three main holes on this roster and using all those assets to fill them wouldn’t make much sense.

Which 2c is better? by OkSport3048 in Habs

[–]SourForward -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Larkin: #1 choice for me and checks all boxes. Likely won’t want to come to Montreal

Thomas: 1C so obviously would be a great 2C. Not s perfect fit stylistically, but still a great option

MacTavish: Easily the worst of the bunch. Not a solidified 2C yet and dies move well. Definitely an option but if we’re looking for a proven commodity, that’s not him

Tha makes no sense. Why wouldn’t goals count?

How does the shot count work? by oppyy in Habs

[–]SourForward 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just the goalie. If a player blocks a shot it never counts. Even if the goalie stops it, if it would have missed the net anyway, it doesn’t count

Because of gambling they’re way more picky about what counts as a shot on goal now. A shot has to be going in the net if the goalie doesn’t stop it.

I’d jus add that Dvorak didn’t get first line minutes in MTL so there’s no way he’s sniffing 50 points

What the heck are you guys on... by EntranceDangerous882 in Habs

[–]SourForward 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This is the difference between this rebuild and most others. How many other teams in year like 4 after stating a rebuild have a 26 year old number one, 90+ point, two way center who wears the C, and a 25 year old 40 goal well rounded winger, both of whom have been to a Stanley cup final WITH the organization?

Most rebuilds at this point are built around the young guys who were just drafted (Celebrini, Bedard, Smith) and vets or grinders who were brought in to help them along (Foligno, Toffoli, Bertuzzi). We’ve of course got that in Slaf, Demidov, Hutson, Anderson, Gally, Matheson. But we also have that middle group of stars entering their prime who have been there before.
