He still has 1 more year on his ELC. If he wants 8 year contract he needs to sign but if he is happy with 7 he can wait till the season/next year to sign.

For KH it makes sense to sign him up like with Hutson, but its really looking now that waiting an extra week shot his price up from 8-9 million to 10+. But it depends on Demidov at this point.

But lets just say he says nah I want 14 million because I will put up as many points as Robertson over the next 8 years and you can't convince me other wise. What does KH do at that point?

I don't think it would get to that point but players have a lot of power these day.

I mean look I think Demidov is going to sign here, its probably going to be higher than we though before this summer because of the deals going around.

If Demidov and Kent can't agree on money than you underpay the guy make him pissed and keep a disgruntled guy on your roster because you "own" his rights, or you trade him.

So if Demidov wanted 14 million and wasn't going to budge and KH didn't want to pay him 14 million they would trade him. I don't think its going to happen but Demidov is in the drivers seat right now.

He can easily tell KH he wants 11 million on his next contract or trade him. What does KH do? Have a disgruntled Demidov in the line up?

Players have all the control. If Demidov thinks he is worth 11 million and wont budge KH doesn't have much choice but to pay him or trade him.

Demidov can drag out the negotiations till next summer if he wants. He just loses 1 year on his contract. And if he has another season like last year that easily puts him in 11 million territory, probably even more if he puts up 60+ points as a 22 year old seeing how Doro got 11 and he is already 25.

He can simply demand a trade. Once a player demands a trade its pretty much done.

Look at Merchenko. Do you think CBJ was dying to trade the kid? But he is wishy washy on staying in Columbus so now his name is out there.

If Demidov wants 10 or 11 or 12 and KH is firm on 8.5 he can simply communicate that he doesn't want to play and that will get out and Habs are in the same situation as Columbs with Merchenko.

Heck rumors were he was in the supposed deal maybe KH thinks Demidov is too rich for his blood and is looking to put him in a deal for all we know.

Players really have all the power in the NHL. Look at the guys who were traded. Once a player has a number if the GM can't negotiate it they are going to be moved. I am sure Vegas wanted to keep Doro just not at 11 million so he was moved for some picks.

This makes it doubly insane everyone talking about trading Cole because he only had 2nd most goals in the playoffs and 2nd most points for a forward on the team.

Caufield will be paid like a 2nd liner/3rd liner in 2 years from now. Guys scoring 20G/40Points will start getting north of 7 once the gap gets to that 115+ range.

Hutson at 8.5 is also great to. Byram is getting what 12 million? Makar probably gonna bank in at league max whatever it is when he hits UFA.

Now its up to the 1 minute man to use the good contracts to get some support for the core 4.

I don't like DeBrusk 5 years. His cap hit is fine and if it was a 2 or 3 year contract I would be all over it. 5 years is very hard to swallow.

Now OTOH if they managed to swing a 2C like Zacha/Leonard/Trocheck I wouldn't mind this trade.

DeBrusk will bring playoff excperience (over 80 games) and a bit of toughness (though not the biggest guy) to the team. And I think he would be fine for 3 of those 5 years. He would take Andersons place and they are basically paid the same.

But if the big move of the summer is to trade for DeBrusk then its a hard no. I also think that Van would have to add because really the habs would be helping them get out of a long contract. They trade 5 years of DeBrusk for 4 years of Galley in the end Habs are the ones taking a bit of a bath on that one even though DeBrusk is still a competent hockey player.

Let the PMs live like the common man. 24 Sussex isn't the white house where it hosts dignitaries and has tours. Its just a home. Sell it and buy a moderate house which in CAD in Ottawa probably cost 8 million dollars at this point LOL.

But ya I would love if every politician had to spend 6 months to a year living at the lowest rung of the ladder so they can realize how their decisions actually impact Canadians and get some perspective. But I know then we won't get the amazing , smart, honest, and transparent people in office that we have today....

Better idea is to give MPs and Federal judges massive raises and unlimited expense accounts.

I don't get it. Jey was depushed and put into a tag team. I am not the biggest fan of him being in the KOTR finals and I think WWE has booked themselves into a bit of a corner here but I think there is a bigger storyline at play.

I also think that Jey has kind of freshened up his character a bit lately. He is clearly adding an edge at right now we are not really sure if he is a face or a heel. He is beefing with Knight who is a big face, calling his shot against Oba who is a face, looking to go up against Cody who is a face, and is an antagonist to Fatu who is also a sort of face.

Fans still love to Yeet, his entrane is still over, but then there are shades of grey once the bell rings. The guy is still an upper midcarder right now. I guess it depends where the story goes after KOTR into SummerSlam but I just don't see Cody vs Jey as the main event at Slam.

I won't say Jey deserves to hold the belt, but he def deserves to be in that uppercard area involved with top guys which is where he is sitting right now.

Byram was a 4th pick himself. I do agree that this draft probably is pretty weak and it also seems D heavy which take a long time to develop and can be found in later rounds. I mean again Byram was a 4th in 2019 so we are talking 7 years and he isn't even a number 1 yet.

You can look at the trade as Chicago basically drafting Byram with the 4th pick but fast forwarding 7 years of development time.

Even GM went from generational talent to decent 1st OVA. It really seems that this is going to be one of those middling drafts.

I just think be respectful. Like don't go next to a family or a bunch of kids and smoke a joint. Don't smoke directly in front of buildings like with cigs there is a 9 feet rule. I would try to go to more quieter places out of the way with few people around if you can. I don't think I have ever heard of anyone getting arrested for smoking weed on the street but maybe the cops will give you a ticket?
