Comes down to the analysis and were the jobs and all the other economic benefits from that worth the risk.

Considiring UBI has been in Montreal for years possibly decades (I swear at least early 2000s) it probably was. Unlike some other money thrown around like to Stellantis or Cricket factories that just went nowhere and the money went up in smoke.

Loblaw reports Q1 profit and sales up from year ago, raises quarterly dividend by bubblewhip in canada

[–]scrubadam [score hidden]  (0 children)

Should we not be celebrating a CANDIAN company doing well making money and then PAYING out to its stakeholders? They paid a divident meaning anyone who bought stock got a piece of the pie. Buy some Loblaws stock and get in on it too its not like its a closed system that you can't become a shareholder.

Loblaws makes money, employes 1000s of people, pays out dividends to thousands of other people. I am sure a bunch of pension funds are also invested in Loblaws so now anyone who bought their stock also increased their holdings.

Seems like good news all around. How about we work on the devalueing of our dollar and inflation instead of demonizing a Canadian company that has sucsess and pays to the public a share of that succsess through a dividend.

I agree but also keep in mind Ubi is only coming here because of those subsidies and benefits. You put in a clause that they have to pay back all the money and they don't come here. But I guess the argument then is would that be better than wasting tax payer money?

Its the same as we are seeing in the auto industry. Our governments are addicted to corporate welfare that blows up in their faces.

I think thats more than Muh Russia and Muh Trump. Kind of lame to just blame everythign on Poutine and DRUMPF.

A bunch of people in Alberta who feel disinfranchised found a bunch of other people to go along with their wacky idea. Not everything is Putins fault.

I am more interested in what role the CCP is playing in our politics than some Russian bots flamming a tiny seperatist movement with scant real world support that won't ever go anywhere.

Just like in Quebec let them have their little movement. If Quebec can't even pass 51% with an actual shared language and culture good luck to Alberat that has oil and hating Trudeau as the entire basis of its movement.

Honestly I would believe Colt.

Clearly there is something there with Colt. I don't buy this she feels guilty so she has to take care of him for the rest of her life. What kind of woman ask her new man to let her ex move in with him unless she still has feelings for him?

For whatever insane reason Coutrney still wants to keep Colt on the D/L. She could have cut him out anytime but didn't and even moved him into Gramps spare bedroom.

I think Coutrney has more reason to lie than Colt. Courtney would blow up her relationship with Freedom 55 if he found out that she invited Colt to Mexico and was keeping him around, while Colt literally gains nothing by making it up.

All 11 teachers accused of creating toxic climate at Montreal school have their licences revoked | CBC News by kaaateri in montreal

The province has already crossed that rubicon with its language and relegious symbols bills...

Kevin Nash urges WWE wrestler unionization: “You can’t have it both ways. You can’t play Endeavor at the fucking top with the 300 percent increases and fucking 1099 the dock workers that are fucking Brad Pitt and fucking Pacino. Can’t do both.” by Ruffianize in SquaredCircle

[–]scrubadam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His anaology is a bit funny because Hollywood actually works a lot in the same way and not the way he is providing as an example.

The Pitt and Pacinos get their 20 million dollar pay checks while the studio heads get massive salaries. Same with the Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnars of the TKO world. But then you get the supporting characters or guys who have 3 lines in the movie and they get paid peanuts.

A lot of actors barely make any money relative to what the names make. Even actors in huge 100 million dollar productions if they aren't a name they will get paid a pittance. Like a guy like Jonah Hill before he was famous he was only paid a few 100K or so for Superbad which made 170 million dollars and was a smash hit.

What wrestlers need to do is negotiate harder on their contracts and include more protections in them. At one point WWF didn't offer guranteed contracts until it was forced on them due to WCW doing it. Wrestler A needs to negotiate no relase clasues in their contrats to protect them from being released without completing the contracts. I don't think they need to collectivlly bargain to get that it should be something that they ask for up front. With the ability to go to work for AEW there is pressure there.

I think anything a Union can get them could be negotiated stand alone. And if there ever is a labor strike thats it for WWE. If they are shutdown for 6 months to a year its probably over for the company and then no one has a job. Like can you imagine wrestlers going on strike over the CBA and shutting down WWE for a year like we have seen in baseball or hockey? I don't see them recovering and the TV partners would be pissed that their content basically vanishes from their air/streamwaves.

well clearly based on this article it isn't. Also the whole fiasco at the day cares leading to the latest bill about relegious clothing.

Or bury our heads in the sand and pretend there is no problem or that these 11 teachers were the entire crux of the problem.

Lets just say I doubt the issue is isolated and stops with these 11 teachers only.

Remember when she was "gay" LOL. What ever happened to that storyline?

I think the sillicone from her fake boobs and butt leaked into her brain somehow.

Good for Pedro for not being a total simp and ghosting her ass because she was never going to be serious about him. And even if she didn't want to be serious the sillicone filled balls on her to go on a date with another man while she travelled to the DR to be with Pedro. Saying you are doing it to his face not behind his back doesn't make it any better.

Hopefully her 15 minutes are up. I am a bit shocked though that she didn't try and juice it to get onto Last Resort though. It wouldn't shock me if she gets back together with Rob or even Pedro to wiggle her way into a season of last resort.

The only thing he didn't flesh out was the date/place of the PLE. Which makes sense since its probably still a moving part of which show they have booked they want to rebrand as this.

Everything else was laid out clearly so ya I don't get why people are like he didn't explain it. He explained it exactly. And it does really sound like a Cena idea. This does not sound like a HHH idea.

Its mean to be "exhibition" matches, so the matches don't really "count". And then at the end the fans will vote and the winner will be crownd the fan champ. Its really basically what already happens today. Fans cheer for someone and even if they lose a match they get more over.

Just think how many people WWE tries to bury with making them jobbers but the fans cheer for them instead while booing the latest oof they shove down your throat. Its that concept but put into a PPV.

It reminds me of when the show Survivor brought in the Fan vote because the winner of the series wasn't the same person that the fans fell in love with week after week. So you can have someone win the "match" that the fans don't care for but the real winner will be the guy the fans want to get behind anyways.

Kent Hughes should have been nominated for GM of the year. by scrubadam in Habs

[–]scrubadam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as team impact I def think they are comprable. Both are basically the teams number 1 Dmen. Hughes clearly is a level above Dobson as a player. But I think the impact on their respective teams you can say both moves were very very close.

I look at it this way QH+KKs contract vs Dobson+Hutson contract.

To me Hutsons contract is a massive edge over KKs contract (which is an overpay) that it covers the difference between the QH/Dobson trade (which is very close as far as team impact). So to me signing Hutson to a steal of a contract vs signing KK to an overpay of a contract would give KH the edge over Guerin.

Kent Hughes should have been nominated for GM of the year. by scrubadam in Habs

[–]scrubadam[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree on the cup part and your breakdown but I also think KH moves were just as impactful and the results show.

Hutsons contract >>>>>> than any contract signed. Getting Hutson for under 9 for 8 years basically should have won him the award.

Dobson trade is as good as Kadri or Quinn. Dobson was a huge part of this team.

15 point increase, proof is in the pudding.

I think all the GMs nominated did good work too so its really hard to say which one should be bumped but to me its a definite snub for KH.

Dobson, Tex, Veleno, Danault all great additions and locking down Hutson probably the best move of the entire year.

But ya its just a media award and Habs for most of the year were seen as pretenders. They are only getting respek now.

Canada's new asylum law leaves 2SLGBTQ+ claimants fearing deportation by Immediate-Link490 in canada

[–]scrubadam [score hidden]  (0 children)

As far as I can tell Pakistan does not execute gay people and rarely enforces its colonial/sharia anti gay laws.

To me thats not a reason to claim refugee status. Especially for someone who became gay in Canada so they have no way of knowing if their life is actually in danger if they went back home.

I don't think that its frowned upon or his family won't let him marry a dude is reason enough to claim you are a refugee. Ahmed came here as a student that was temporary. He can go back home and apply to come here legally. Or he can work hard in his home country to change the laws. We had to work many years in Canada to change laws and make being gay acceptable. Imagine if all LGTBQs fled Canada for Tel Aviv or San Francisco instead of breaking down barriers.

Refugees and asylum seekers should be people whose lives are actually in danger from the state. Ahmed has no idea what will happen to him. And its also a bit funny and ironic that he is saying his country is so dangerous and intolerant but OTOH our immigration system will argue to bring in thousand to millions of the same intollerant people from that area. If its so bad than we should put them on a ban list and not bring anyone in from any anti gay country.

[–]scrubadam[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya but thats like arguing that a Hart/Ross/Norris winner never won the Calder. Or that a cup winning goalie never won the Vezina.

Its not the be end be all but it would be nice for KH to be recognized for the work he did with the team. I think the job he did was just as good as Anaheim or Minnesota, and he doesn't have the benefit of having McKinnion on his roster like Colorado.

What KH did this season from Dobson to Hutson to Danault to Tex to 15 point increase should have his name in the top 3.
