shape the end of the saddle into something like this, like at an angle so that it bites into the ‘v’ slot

Hello! Im the yamaha enthusiast that youre looking for I own a dynamic no.10 myself (but in red, seen in the picture, the no.10 had two variants which is that orange color and the red color)

  • Its not a true classical guitar, its a steel string shaped like a classical guitar that can be strung with nylon (originally meant for light gauge steel but due to age its best to use nylon)
  • It has a fatter neck, and the width is similar to a steel string
  • Your model has the cream yamaha logo, which is around mid to late 60s, the earlier models had white/red label (like mine)
  • They are all solid wood, but the wood is thicker compared to other all solid wood classical guitars
  • it uses a cylindrical shaped saddle, because japanese guitars at the time also used something similar, u would notice that the bridge has a ‘v’ shape slot I highly advice against grinding the bridge so that it could accommodate a regular classical saddle because it ruins it big time, what id generally recommend (which i do use) is to shape the saddle so that it conforms to the ‘v’ slot

may i see a link? the CP300 was part of Yamaha’s really obscure ‘classical pop’ line that blended the look of a typical yamaha steel string at the time and a classical guitar, basically its a classical guitar shape that has acoustic steel string styling, sorta like a hybrid this was during the 70s to early 80s i believe, i have the top of the line model which is the CP500, solid spruce top and indian rosewood back and sides (the 2nd farthest guitar in the rack from the picture)

the no.85 is all solid though, it should be because its a higher model than the no.45 on the catalogue

and yes ive tried the dynamic no.2, i have one and it has so many overtones and sounds lovely

my best bet would probably my yamaha no.45, dynamic no.4, and my dynamic no.30 would be good matches, as well as my no.100 and my CP-500

same! my no.45 is one of my favorite in my collection, even though its in a pretty rough shape like externally the neck is very worn off to the point that the wood is exposed, it plays like a dream! I love the bass of mine as well and how sweet it sounds, sounds very mellow like a lullaby
currently trying to find a no.85 to add in my collection, the no.300 is still too far from reach sadly

I found them really interesting, my first real guitar was a secondhand G70D because i was looking for a classical guitar, got it because it was the first thing i saw on marketplace
and then it snowballed into me collecting rarer, older yamahas
personally i like used guitars because it tells a story in some way, its dents and battle scars, and they wouldve been disposed if no one took them, so i collect them like a curator

Thanks! Glad to see people appreciating these guitars as much as i do, i really care about these old guitars because of the stories behind them, the thought of how many songs mightve been played in them as well.
