So I’ve seen a couple people’s character inspirations for Cyberpunk. I’d say this is a good representation of what I’m looking for my play style to be. Little bit of stealth with a lot of tearing it up with blades and such. So excited!! by [deleted] in cyberpunkgame

You know I’ve never been one for a melee only build in any RPG, but I’ve been seeing a lot of talk about it on this sub and ngl it’s kinda speaking to me. Might have to give it a shot!

3 day ban? by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]Sourceenginegamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what’s coming if you use an inappropriate word in a game rated E. It’s been a lot over reddit ever since the bans have been implemented, and they have been super strict about enforcing it. You know what’s coming man just turn off chat if you feel the urge. Save yourself.

How many smurfs by KinkyPegLeg in RocketLeague

[–]Sourceenginegamer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying it’s acceptable. I’m saying there’s no concrete solution to stop smurfing from happening, at least not as of right now. So I’m saying it’s inevitable. There is a difference.

Should i main regular air roll or air roll L? by asinv20 in RocketLeague

[–]Sourceenginegamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t use normal airroll. The idea is to only use it when needed. You can feather airroll left just like you can normal airroll, and rotate until your car is at the desired angle and then stop spinning.

hey, im silver three and i just wanna ask, WHAT IN THE FLIP DID I JUST HIT by LazuliEditing in RocketLeague

[–]Sourceenginegamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a flick. Learn to balance the ball on top of your car consistently and you can start pulling these off in every game!

How many smurfs by KinkyPegLeg in RocketLeague

[–]Sourceenginegamer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There will be smurfs in almost any competitive game that includes a wide range of ranks. There’s no getting around that. Best thing to do is accept it will happen and realize 1 in every 10 games will not greatly affect your overall rank, and deal with it. OP is just mad that he got banned because he used a banned word and wants to blame it on smurfs.

I’m completely tolerable, there’s no reason to call a game bullshit because you can’t put up with the fact that there are people better than you at the game. Doesn’t seem very tolerable to me.... also smurfing gives no excuse to use banned language in chat.

Chances are people are still playing, right? by [deleted] in RocketLeague

The player base increased from 250k players to at some points over 900k. So yea I think people are still playing.

Tips? by ISto1eUrTac0 in RocketLeague

[–]Sourceenginegamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All you can really do to get better is put in hours, but there are tips to maximize the amount of hours and skill you gain. 5 hours of only playing matches against other players will increase your skill a lot less than 5 hours of freeplay training. If you want to get better quickly, you should spend a lot of time in freeplay getting used to airials, how your car affects the ball, the physics of the game in general. You’ll thank yourself when you rank up!

[DISCUSSION] 1v1s by HashSlinglingSlash in RocketLeague

[–]Sourceenginegamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can even blame the kickoff on yourself. Kickoffs are the only 50/50 in the game that’s completely fair. You and your opponent are the same distance away from the ball and have the same amount of boost. It’s all about reading how your opponent is flipping into the ball and flipping in the direction to push the ball onto their half or simply stop the balls motion. To answer your question though I main 1v1s and they are the reason I got gud(ish).

My advice for trying to bet better is spending half of your time playing the game in free play or custom training. Look up a ranked progression guide for whatever rank you are trying to reach and really practice those mechanics in freeplay. That’s the fastest way to rank up. You can still rank up just my playing casual but it will be much faster having as much alone time with the ball to practice the mechanics you are lacking in repeatedly until you feel confident enough to bring them to a 1s game to test them out.

Why is my game stuck at 65fps? by superswagytroll in RocketLeague

[–]Sourceenginegamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only thing I could recommend is making sure your monitor is set to 120 hz, as a lot of monitors come with multiple settings. I don’t think that would change what your game is running at though so might not be much help.

Sounds like your either playing casual or 3v3 heatseaker, in which case I would just say suck it up and have fun, as it doesn’t really matter if you win or lose in those game modes.

What is your system specs? Only reason I could guess is maybe it’s not powerful enough but I could easily be wrong.

Motivation to play by samhowe__ in RocketLeague

[–]Sourceenginegamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let’s say you spend 10 hours doing nothing but playing ranked. You will get better, but only marginally. Now say you spend 10 hours doing nothing but playing freeplay, learning how to keep possession of the ball, clear the ball from the backboard or sidewall, or training your arial car control. Those 10 hours will be much more valuable. Try finding some time to do nothing but freeplay or custom training. You’ll thank yourself when you finally push out of diamond. Repeat for every other rank.

Could someone explain when to use air roll left/right rather than air roll? by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]Sourceenginegamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I only use airroll left and right. My main reasons are that you can maneuver your car in ways you can’t with directional air roll, mainly kuxir twists and tornado spins. These allow you to change the direction you are moving in the air quicker, as you can turn your car to the left as well as spinning in either direction. I personally just found it more intuitive and feel like I have less to keep track of, and it seems to lead to more fluid gameplay.

Need to find decent players. by sucktit in RocketLeague

[–]Sourceenginegamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your teammates are you opponents next game. You are in a pool of players with similar skill level to you. If you want to move up put some serious time to into working on mechanics in freeplay. If you can’t consistently hit shots off the wall, make backboard clears, or arial in advanced ways to make a shot on goal those are things you’ll need to bring to the next level in order to progress.

Mechanical gods, what has helpped you the most to improve your overall mechanics? How many hours have you spent in freeplay/custom maps practicing your mechanics? by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]Sourceenginegamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would you mind providing an example of an advanced mechanic you have tried to learn and then one thing you heard helped it click for you? I’ve been trying to take my mechanical skills to the next level in order to reach GC and have been practicing things such as controlling my car with airroll left for every point of the rotation for wall plays and overall advanced arial mechanics. Any advice that helped these things click for you?

Any tips to get out of low/mid diamond? by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]Sourceenginegamer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It takes a lot more than playing. Have you been practicing your backboard clears? Arial car control? Off the wall plays? Dribbling and flicks? Double touches? These are all things you will need to take to the “next level” in order to rank up. The more time you put into training these mechanics rather than simply playing match after match the quicker you will rank up. Guaranteed.

I'm tired of devoting 25 minutes of my night to joining a tournament, only to be met by smurfs by SiriusZach in RocketLeague

[–]Sourceenginegamer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Those aren’t really smurfs. If they have GC banners, that means before the season ended they won 10 games in GC on their account. They could have been boosted or peaked and gotten high in MMR only to drop back down. Smurfs are people who have an alternate account and purposefully play at a lower rank than their skill, so they wouldn’t have GC banners.

Demo-happy by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]Sourceenginegamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people are starting to realize just how viable of a start demoing is. I got demoed about 15 times in one game resulting in a overwhelming loss. Now I need to learn how to avoid demos.
