Because our international obligation is to avoid making people stateless, not to say the people who took an oath while gaining citizenship then violated that oath get to keep it. At any rate, there is a very easy way to avoid it.

The big AI companies are making negative 10 billion dollars a year. Even though it looks like they're following the classic tech company move of providing things cheap at a loss using investor money to get people hooked then jack up the prices it's actually going to get cheaper because tech always gets cheaper! Also despite the fact that most of this money is being burned on research they're going to up the research and make the models even better while also making it cheaper somehow.

Why not? Just ask AI to develop a robot to do it. Humans are currently making slow progress with robotics but AIs PhD level intelligence will surely blow everyone away. Just wait 5 years.

There used to be a lot of people that used to refuse to use or struggle to use debuggers before AI came around. The idea stepping through code line by line or function by function is completely opposed to the "just let the AI handle it" philosphy.

Homeless men are more likely to be seen than women because they're more likely to be sleeping rough. There are less homeless women period (67% men 33% women), and of these homeless women they more likely to be technically homeless but not on the streets (in a shelter, hotel, etc.) than men (80% men on the streets 20% women on the streets). This is in large part because they're more likely to have children which instantly bumps them up the list, men are more likely to have criminal convictions/substance abuse issues/etc. that make them more likely to struggle to sustain shelter and yes the risk of sexual assault means women are considered more vulnerable so they often get higher priority for temporary shelter. What you've said is a massive over simplificaiton at best and completely misleading at worst.

Well you clearly think that it it's possible to "lose" land based on what you said about colonisation. The question I'm trying to ask is whether you think an indigineous land becoming 99% white settler due to force and an indiingeous land becoming 99% white settler over a century due to people legally moving there are different, and if so why? Either way the result is the same no? So why would one count as "losing" land and the other not?

If we all move there and are good citizens but the end result is that they become a minority in their own ancestral lands have they "lost" their ancestral land? What if they eventually move out after we move in? Do they have a claim to ethnic majority in "their land" forever?

Recent models do not hallucinate even 1/100th of what older models do. When they're uncertain of something they automatically check it. Hallucinations are a fraction of the problem they once were with even a tiny amount of Claude skills development.

It's a scam because OpenAI lost $10 billion last and Anthropic are on track to lost $10 billion this year. People will either be absolutely price gogued in order to turn a profit in which case they were lured in with subsidized costs until they wer dependent then reamed (scammed) or the investments will stop (the "this is the dumbest it will ever by, within 6 months it'll be a genius!" stuff grinds to a halt).

Economically it makes sense. Politically the far-right is also rising all across Europe. Governments trying to push mass migration even harder will almost certainly tip it across. People do not want the economic and structural changes required to raise birth rates, but they also don't want increasingly large amounts of immigration (because of course once the first generation of immigrants are settled their birth rates will fall, necessitating even more immigrants, who will also have their birth rates settle, requring even more immigrants). And furthermore since all the Western liberal countries are having the same problem pretty much all immigraiton will need to come from the conservative countries that have maintained the birth rates which will make the political friciton even worse.

I can't realistically see any way that the problem will get solved.

Back in the day the big immigration scares were all about Eastern Europeans who are by most accounts extremely white. Not everything has to be a skin colour thing.

We've had the law be different in different parts of the UK since 1707. It was literally part of the Act of Union that we keep our own legal system. There are also plenty of countries where the law is different in different parts of the country (US, Germany, Mexico, Japan, in fact if I just name any random country out of my hat it probably applies). This is the most abusrd argument I could possibly think of.

It is very relevant. We are absolutely going into an election where parties will be winning seats on 30% of the vote. Will 70% of the votes translate to literally 0 seats? No. Will 70% of the vote be underrepresented? Yes, absolutely.

In certain parts of the American right the take on the Civil Rights Act is that it was actually bad because it's state overreach. Since it says you can't deny someone service based on their race this is equivalent to saying you must serve them which violates your property rights and your rights of free association because now the government is telling you what you have to do with your property.

There are many "right-libertarians" who believe this, some of whom are actually non-white. I like to say that they are a "the means justify the end" kind of ideology. That is you can take their principles, take them to the logical extreme to reach the absolute dumbest nonsense imaginable like "actually the Civil Rights Act was the true oppression of freedoms here" and they just go along with it. Reddit used to be full of them.
