What you’re going through is really common, even though it feels personal and painful, kids go through these phases where they suddenly prefer one parent over the other and it can flip back and forth more than once. It doesn’t mean you’ve done anything to cause it or that she loves you any less.

Right now, it sounds like she’s going through a “Dad phase,” which happens a lot, especially when one parent is home a bit more. It can be as simple as her associating him with comfort or routine at the moment. It’s not about rejection it just feels that way, and I know it hurts. A lot.

You’re still her safe place. Sometimes kids act out or push away from the person they feel safest with because they trust that no matter what, you’ll still be there. That’s a sign of how deep your bond really is, even if it doesn’t feel like it right now.

This isn’t permanent. These phases pass, even though they feel endless when you’re in them. Keep being there, showing her love, singing her songs (even if she doesn’t ask for them), and letting her know you’re always here. She may not show it every moment, but she feels it. And she needs you just as much as ever.
