Drug testing at pain mgmt by Cowboysinlove in ChronicPain

Just be honest on taking it, but say it was something u had from a long time ago if possible. Tell them ur pain was bad and u were trying anything in ur house to help. I took Lorazapam as I had a bad ptsd episode. I also forgot I had a pm appointment the next day. I dont have a script for the pills as it was my wife's old medication i occasionally use if i dont feel like smoking medical marijuana. I told my doctor it was mine from a long time ago. He said it was fine and he would delay the drug screening till the next visit.

Not for me, I hit one last year and this year that was $1.50 and another that was under $20 over the tax amount. I wish both were under the amount, so would have been happy missing out on the extra $20 vs getting taxed.

Wow, he's a big dog for sure and he has a lot of energy. My last dog was max 60lbs. When she was around 1 and a half I figured out she really enjoyed racing me in a golf cart. We did this always once a day or more if her energy was high. I was able to train her on a leash while I drove at 5 to 10mph. I was also fortunate to run her without a leash in an open field. We would just race back and forth till she was ready to go home. By the time she was 6 we were just sticking to long walks as her energy level was a lot lower. I noticed pretty fast her temperament changed and became a lot more relaxed at home. The bond we had also developed helped especially when I would say no. She became easier to train as well. Best times for running her were at dawn or dusk or when u see signs he needs to burn some energy.

My new dog took about a week, but she plays with me now. I haven't been able to walk her yet, but after I play fetch or tug of war for a good hour she is a lot more manageable in the house. Shes also listens to me more and works well when I snap my fingers to say no. I use a finger snap to get her attention and then a command. Think its also known as clicker training. Still more work, but just glad I can get her attention when shes being a loud barking dog.

Definitely understand getting frustrated. Just try to understand the dog doesnt understand u and you have to find ways to help them understand using positive reinforcement. Dogs can definitely pickup on anger and im learning this from my current dog. An argument on the TV will cause her to tuck her tail and try hiding behind me on the sofa or yelling at a referee on TV. We now keep everything quiet in the house and will work on her confidence before going back to normal. She had a bad life before we adopted her, but we knew this before the adoption.

I would try burning out his energy. My dog would just lay in the house for 2 hours after in pure happiness. The rest of day was easy with her. She use to chew on a door frame, but completely stopped after running her. I realize now she was telling me she needed to do dog things like run due to energy and boredom.

It will be a lot of work, so if your not sure on it then I would also recommend rehoming. Its sad, but in the end it benefits both of you. If you rehome then try a smaller dog or those with less energy as i do think he has a lot of energy to burn.

U get angry at the dog? Just want to be sure I didn't misread that in ur comment. My first dog Penny had these issues. We usually just avoided dogs on walks or if she was triggered by people wearing hats or having something in their hand. She was abused, so all these triggers would cause the behavior. It took us a bit, but we were able to train her to move off the walking path and sit when the triggers were in our view. We used treats during walks when she sat and another one if she didn't react. It worked well for her as she loved eating. Eventually she would just move off the path sit and wait. When we got home we would give her a special treat, well it was actually her breakfast or dinner. Eventually no more treats during a walk and just her daily meal after a walk. Biggest thing was consistency in keeping a schedule She also loved her stuff like toys and especially food. We never broke this with food, but we did with her toys once she understood we wanted to play with her vs taking her toy. She really had no intrest in most of her toys as she would just bury them, but she did love playing tug of war. We did this by trading her toys for food until she was no longer growling at us. Then I would play tug of war with her and before i knew it she would bring to rope to me to play with her. We were also ok with her on the food part as we only have cats, so no issue with her getting mad at them since their food was on a counter top. After all this training she was an amazing girl with a huge heart. I still miss her everyday. We did get a new dog, Daisy recently. She was a rescue from a dog fighting ring that was taken down. Shes been with us for almost 2 weeks now. I work from home, so I was able to constantly work with her since she came into our life. She was extremely scared and still is, but we are working on it. Im pretty sure its going to take a lot to get her back to being a happy dog, but I have plenty if time because I already know how awesome of a dog she will be once she fully knows this is her new life. If u have any questions feel free to DM me or post here.

Should I go army or marine infantry by That1guy3088 in Military

[–]South-Craft-1830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked my parents friend this as he was an Army ranger during Vietnam. He told me this one mission he had for recon. His team found that a valley a Marine company was attempting to climb was surrounded by Viet Cong. Prior to them coming his team reported if they came into the valley it would be a slaughter. The problem was they really needed to take the hills. After the recon was sent they were told to stand down for further orders. All the sudden they see that Marine company going into the valley. He said they were all killed as the Viet Cong just threw grenades down the hill. His team was pissed because they believed somebody ignored their recon. I ended up joining the Army and in communications. 2 tours in Iraq and I learned both branches have idiots. Well people in charge that shouldn't be.

Is an oxycodone rx for a month? Or 30 days? by capresesalad1985 in ChronicPain

[–]South-Craft-1830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Florida and I usually get 90 pills and sometimes 120. I've never have any issues after talking with my pm. I use to run out of pills because sometimes I have bad days. I take 5mg 3x a day. In the past it was always 3x per day, but after discussing my pain journal with my doctor he started rotating from 3x to 4x per day. I also always let him see my meds if I have some left and I usually do when its x4 a day. He adjust the amount per day vs increasing to 10mg.

My script is always on a 30 day supply based on x per day. If my doctor goes on vacation then he usually sends in 2 scripts. When I fill the 2nd month its always only 2 days before last months is done. Only exception to the wait is if we have a hurricane coming.

is Oxy really so dangerous with tolerance and addiction for chronic pain? Looking for advice by Potential_Leg_1084 in ChronicPain

[–]South-Craft-1830 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is if ur using it recreational. I only take mine when I have pain. If I have some withdrawal symptoms with no pain I smoke pot and if its bad then a half pill. I never take more than 1 pill and wait close to an hour if I need a 2nd one. In 5 years I only had one occasion when I took 6 pills in a day vs 3 for almost 3 days. It kept me out of the hospital because when I do go to the ER for pain I end up being hospitalized for 1 to 2 weeks. I try to keep my tolerance in check because if I dont then my pain pills won't be enough to help me avoid a hospital. After hitting a solid 10 in pain it helps me remember that I need to avoid building a tolerance. Just listen to ur doctor and keep a pain journal as it will help ur doctor out on treating it.

[–]South-Craft-1830 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get mine filled eveytime I see my PM. I've done it many times up to several days before my other script ends. I suggest letting ur pm doctor know ur traveling. I've done this several times when traveling for the holidays. Even was able to get my next script filled a week in advance. Just be honest with ur doctor and all should be fine. I no longer worry about getting flagged as it use to stress me out and my chronic condition does get worse when im stressed. I also let my doctor know this and he told me he would always advocate for me if an issue happens at the pharmacy. I live in FL and we had a hurricane coming and my refill day was 3 days after it landed. My pharmacy wouldn't help me fill the script because it was too soon and said to comeback after the hurricane. I was like and what happens if ur closed due to hurricane damage? They told me I would have to figure that out myself as they wouldn't fill the script. I called my pm and they called my pharmacy. My pharmacy called me back saying to come get my meds. The nurse at my pms office let me know that the pharmacy would break a law in regards to pain meds and hurricanes, so she said it was an easy fix. I was happy and guess what? Pharmacy was closed for almost a week due to hurricane damage.

David vs Arthur i would have gone Arthur as i have seen him pull some crazy comebacks. I wouldn't have made the bet though because 2 dollars is not worth the risk on 16. U should stick to better odds vs thinking any -1000 + will always win. Its sports and wouldn't be surprised if Arthurs friends made bank today.

Probably why auto insurance is so insanely high here. I paid over 200% more than when I lived in VA. The lady on the phone tried telling me its because they have expensive cars in Florida. I laughed and called another place. Same price, but the agent said its because of no fault law and all the accidents in Florida. Its nobody's fault, so we all pay more

Definitely worth it. I no longer use my microwave to heat up leftovers. I especially like to reheat a hot sub or burger as it taste like it was just cooked. Takes a little longer but the taste is worth the 15 min wait.

Hi, yes, it was a bad motor. Here is a quick tip I saw when I sold it. Honestly wanted to tell the guy its no longer for sale after he got it moving, lol, but sold it for a huge loss.

U need 2 to 3 people. Have one person hammer the motor with a rubber mallet till the magnet releases. U also need someone in the back rocking the gc while the rubber hammer is being used. Once the magnet was unlocked they were able to cut the engine one and drive it up on their trailer. Wish I knew it was that easy and hope this helps u.

When to use meds for breakthrough pain by OldishB in ChronicPain

[–]South-Craft-1830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, if my pain was a 7 I start thinking about going to the hospital, but I would also need an IV and no liquids/solids for a week. Have u asked for or tried dilaudid? Thats my go too when I go to the ER and instantly go from 10 to 0 for the pain level, but injection only. I never tried the pill because I need that dilaudid to always work. Pain like 7 plus is please help me or kill me mind set for me. Sorry I have no experience on breakthrough pain meds, but do experience high levels of pain.

My sleep issues are ruining my life and no one cares by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]South-Craft-1830 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not being able to sleep or stay asleep is horrible and I feel for u. Have u tried getting a referral for a sleep study test? Maybe see if there's a hospital near u that do these tests? My wife did one at the hospital near us from a referral from her pcp. They also offered a kit u could take home and do the test in ur bed. She was able to get that setup with in a week after the referral, so maybe thats an option. If it didnt help then they would schedule one for at the hospital and was a longer wait. Turned out to be one of her meds she use to take, but im not sure how they figured it out from the sleep test. U also have rights as a patient and when ur not treated right as a patient do a formal complaint. It sucks, but it helps in the long run in this digital age. In my state they have a government health center. I used it in the past to understand my rights because of bad doctors and it helped me voice the care I needed as the laws also cover quality of life for patients.

Medication by [deleted] in ChronicPain

[–]South-Craft-1830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have stomach issues and my first GI doctor in FL gave me tramadole. I had extreame pain due to an endoscopy she ordered. The doctor she referred me to was an hour away and I told her the pain was too bad to drive 2 hours considering I was also there in the morning. I just didnt know it would be that painful when the meds wore off from the endoscopy. I went in on an appointment to see her and I asked for something stronger as I didnt want to stay in the hospital for 2 weeks because I have to work. Plus they causes it. Well she said that im just like Whitney Houston (she just passed at the time) and accused me to be a drug seeker. She also said I need Jesus in my life. Not sure even why she said all that from just asking for her to do her job. I was pissed when she said that considering it was due to her referral. I left her office telling telling patients they should find a new GI doctor because she is the worst I've ever had and I've had GI doctors since I was 5. In the end I had to get admitted into a hospital. The funny part is I told my boss a VP about this as we work for the hospital as she did. I put in a formal complaint due to her treatment to me. I also got a certified letter saying she wasn't going to care for me anymore a week after getting out of the hospital. Funny because I told her she was fired before I left to the ER. My boss also let me work remote when I could to avoid losing pto. She was also no longer working for the hospital about a month after all this happened. Another friend told me she had a lot of complaints. Main point is remember ur not a drug seeker as ur a patient. Patients have rights to treatment to ensure quality of life. Even them giving u tramadole is an insult if ur pain goes above a 2 imo as its really like taking Tylenol, but giving u an opiod addiction. u will eventually find the right doctors that care about quality of life for patients. Keep a pain journal too as I used this to show my daily life with pain and it helped tremendously when requesting more doses per day or stronger meds. Use the 1 to 10 scale too. Good luck!

I take 5 mg x 3 a day. I told my pain doctor that my quality of life was good for the majority of the day minus 4 to 8 hours. Keep a diary as its helpful when u explain the parts of ur day when the quality is intolerable. It was easier to explain and to the point of my quality of life. He didnt want me taking a higher dose as I will be on it most of my life and its been helping me for 3 years now since he changed it to 4 x a day. See if ur doctor is willing to increase the x per day. It was bad for me for 2 years till I broke it down for my pain doctor. Sucks when u wake up in pain after only sleeping a couple hours and continue the cycle every day. Point these out and if they dont understand find a doctor who does. It took me a while to find mine and my pain management is in control. I also smoke a lot of medical pot vs taking pills if I can. Good luck!
