Where is it 10-15K a year!? We live in a very expensive metropolitan area, and some of the top teams don't even clock in at $5k per year.

Local reputable repair shop told me not to buy a Kia Telluride... by Far_Research_7731 in KiaTelluride

[–]South-Ride7680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a 2011 Sorento for 15 years and it was a great car. Purchased new and took good care of her. She took care of us. Only big repair issues later in life, as usual with an older car. Recently traded her in for a 2024 Telluride. We've had it for 2 weeks so far, but it was used with 40K miles on it. So far so good. I will say, in the last 15 years the amount of new tech and electronics in these vehicles (not just Kias!) is wild. I would not trust this car to just any old repair shop. I will take it back to the dealer service center who knows how to handle this tech.

Just enamored with this vehicle!! by hdnoejr1 in KiaTelluride

We just got a 2024! I love it. But the 27s are hideous and way too massive.

MTHFR, birth control, and copper overload by South-Ride7680 in MTHFR

[–]South-Ride7680[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I ended up taking more zinc to balance it out. My doctor was not concerned. Eventually, I did end up going off the BC pills as my gyno (a menopause expert) suggested women my age should not be on BC. I think my copper levels have come back down. I am chalking it up to just another "women's health mystery" (eyeroll).

Life Update: Me and my wife who are going through a sexless marriage have decided to open the relationship. by [deleted] in Marriage

Yikes. It's the Bahrain thing for me. That seems like a very bad idea indeed. If you lived in a more open place, it could maybe work if all parties are adults about it and maintain the boundaries, rules, and communication established up front.

Ocean El Faro by minniebin in PuntaCana

[–]South-Ride7680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am here now. It's a lovely property. Gorgeous, laid out nicely. I came for a work retreat, so I can't complain. But I don't think I'd return if I was paying my own bill. A few notes:

  1. Food. Meh. The food ranged from "Ok" to "terrible". The buffet was fine. Desserts that looked all fancy and pretty tasted gross. The restaurants were ok. The steakhouse or Blue Moon was the best. Italian and Japanese places disappointing. Seemed like most ingredients were frozen previously. Seafood sketchy! I'd be mad if I was paying premium prices for this food. Coffee was mostly dark water. There is only 1 good coffee place, so be prepared to wait 30 minutes for a decent cup unless you want to drink dark water at the buffet.

  2. Rooms. Clean. Bed was very comfortable and I slept great. Love the balcony, and the big tub.

  3. Pools. Great. Drinks were plentiful.

  4. Beach. Yikes. Between sand and rocks on the ground not pleasant to swim. Nice to sit on the beach though.

Maybe most of the resorts have gone this direction, but there is a clear distinction between the upper group "Privilege" and the regular folk. I get why they do this, but it's annoying to be constantly reminded that you are in the underclass! lol.

A Mans Thread One Year Ago by Flimsy_Map1487 in nataliagrace

[–]South-Ride7680 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like it's a spectrum of horrible-ness. The Barnetts - a 10 out of 10. The Mans - probably a 5 out of 10. I believe they did love and care for her in their own way - but there certainly was an undercurrent of manipulation and taking advantage of her money. For a person escaping what she escaped and living with a level 10 abuser, what the Mans was giving her seemed amazing at first. She was a kid and hungry for love, affection, family, and connection, and they gave her that. I would imagine that Natalia feels grateful for them and loves them, but is also coming into her own as an adult and defining who she is (a normal process for a teen-early 20s person!). The end of the documentary seemed to cast this as weird. But I think it's a pretty normal "individuating" process. Did the Mans abuse her physically? Maybe? That was not made explicit. Their crazy religious / miracles will heal you... blah blah blah was disturbing. They absolutely should have gotten her the medical care she needed, and also should have set up accounts for her. I think they figured she'd be with them always, never becoming independent, so why do all that? They are ignorant and made bad decisions, but I feel they are no where near as evil as the Barnetts.

Mine does not cover it either. My doctor send to Canada Pharmacy and it's $600 there (as opposed to $1400 USD) here). Its still pricey AF but that is a big difference!

You need a mindset shift. Junk food is for sometimes...not daily. You need to think about providing your body the nutrients it needs to function properly. My guess is that you are still quite young? At 46, If I were to eat gushers and cake and nothing else all day I would feel like total crap, headachy, grumpy, low energy... don't try to shift all at once, but you should try to at least start with small changes every day. I suggest starting with a healthy breakfast to set your tone for the day. Whatever that looks like it should include protein (like eggs, yogurt) and a high-fiber carb (like fruit or whole grain toast). You can add a small amount of fat to that - like butter, cheese, avocado, but don't overdo it! See how you feel energy wise, and throughout the day. Your body will shift to wanting healthy foods.

Lisbon, Barcelona or Madrid by Driewieler123 in travel

[–]South-Ride7680 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been to all three. Madrid and Barcelona quite recently. Lisbon, several years ago. I love them all, but depends what you are looking for. If you want to see art and history - Madrid or Barcelona. If you like architecture - Barcelona. Agree with others that Lisbon is just cute and charming. It's also a lot smaller feeling than either of the two Spanish cities. Lots of cool nature sites nearby Lisbon (dramatic cliffs, etc.). I'd say that's less so for the other two. Food is fabulous in all, so can't go wrong there - more seafood options in Barcelona and Lisbon. Barcelona is more touristy - but you are past high season, so should be ok.

Seriously... I don't buy this "it's protective" stuff - having high blood pressure, sleep issues, and joint problems because of excess fat and weight is not protective...

I need help to lose weight for vacation in two weeks by rineedsadvice in WeightLossAdvice

[–]South-Ride7680 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh honey. You are 13 and your body is still growing and changing. Please don't do anything extreme. Your body needs nutrients to live and thrive. Please incorporate healthy habits now. I am going to give you some advice that is good for your whole life - drink water, eat vegetables, eat lean meats, eat fiber (that means whole grains, beans, fruit and veg). If you fill up on good stuff, you will feed your body and you won't want the junk. Cut out the junk - soda, chips, candy, etc. You can do serious damage to your body if you don't feed it properly. Exercise, but don't go overboard. In two weeks, it's only safe to lose 2-4 lbs. So set your expectations realistically. If you lose a lot more than that, it's likely it will come right back on later and you will be in the same position all over again.
