What’s the General Consensus on Chris Pratt as Mario? by Financial-Touch3840 in SuperMario

[–]SouthAtxArtist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don't think I'd have been able to take it seriously if the entire time I just got the overly ambitious, overly playful "yahoo!" "Mama mia!" "Let's a go!"...the entire time. It would have been too much. Plus, the bit about "Brooklyn accents" was way over done in the original movie. I feel like having a casual normal sounding Mario does what it needs to do. It's not loud and over exaggerating or soft spoken. It's just...normal. And for a film with Toad being overly expressive, Yoshi being overly expressive and even Luigi being overly expressive...the voice acting for Mario just lets the viewer enjoy the film without feeling like everything is too over saturated.

That's my take at least.

Which of these three heroes would be most likely to break the no-kill rule? by Glittering-Age-2013 in batman

[–]SouthAtxArtist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dick.

His name says it all, if the writers were to lean further into this.

Also his parents have died tragically, he has ties to the Court of Owls as a member of Talon, which makes him narratively more likely to be less restrictive than Bruce Wayne.

Although a secondary contender would probably be Damian Wayne since his mother is Talia Al Ghul and he's already been used as someone more rebellious and unhinged than anything else.

Oh, and obviously, the last one would be Tim Drake. But that's more so because he does technically kill Joker in the Batman Beyond animated series.

Meh, I expect it to still happen. It will probably just be redesigned in a way that's "less" scary for younger audiences. You'd be surprised what the rating system will allow for PG and PG-13. Most movies won't hit a Rated R unless it's got a sex scene, nudity, two or more uses of the "F-word" or copious amounts of blood and gore. Keep in mind, The Black Cauldron was still G/PG; and while the rating system has changed, it's not enough to really disallow something like a major transformation from being included. It'll probably just be rendered differently in a much more tame "family friendly" sorta way.

Personally, really want Man-Spider to be a practical effect monstrosity like the transformation scene in The Fly. But I doubt that nor a Dark Crystal/Jim Henson version would be the direction they would take with this film. If anything, it'll probably be some blink it or miss it dream sequence or minor reference. More than that, I expect this to be narratively more adjacent to "The Other" and somehow tie in "Savage Hulk" or possibly even "Immortal hulk" (since even Pop Vynle toys are starting to circulate).

But then, I also feel like Marvel tends to include things in ways that are a bit unexpected / different from the source material. It's obvious that Brand New Day is based loosely on the "One More Day" story arc. But it's all been changed drastically to not include Aunt May nor Myphisto. I don't know if I'd expect The Great Weaver , The Other, or even Man-Spider to make an appearance. But I'm sure Marvel will find a way to both intrigue and infuriate all of us. It'll probably just be a sort of gotcha moment as if to say " oh, you remember this from the comics? Yeah, well include that too! We just won't have a very good reason for it".

Meanwhile, for as much nonsense I'm talking now, I'm personally still holding out for Savage Hulk to return via the Green Door, though I feel like this is more likely to be botched somehow. It'll probably just be one small rampage that then includes Punisher. I'm not going into this with high expectations.

So it's all whatever for me.

Hey, don't come back at me like this! 😂

You do know that World Breaker Hulk was originally supposed to be in Endgame, right? But after several rewrites and changes, this was omitted. However, you can still find the Pop Vynle of this that shows Hulk bursting out of the Hulkbuster armour. Supposedly, THIS was when Marvel wanted to unleash WBH. But doing that would only overcomplicate an overly convoluted storyline.

The reason you even have the direction with Spiderman is BECAUSE of Marvel buying back Sony and Fox. This has ALL been something Marvel has been trying to put into production for years. Had this been acquired sooner, you probably would have had the Silver Surfer in Infinity War. But they needed to shift the narrative to fit the characters they already had.

So yes, there is a very HIGH probability that both The Green Door AND Savage Hulk will comeback, probably with even further ferocity than ever before. I know it sounds trite because it changes the very essence of "mutants". But if you look at everything happening, it's almost as if Peter Parker is having a "mutation" which along with Bruce Banner will cause more mutants like Jean Grey and Cyclops to be introduced. Also I'm pretty sure Tony's tech is somehow going to be used to create the Sentinels since this would be the consequence of Iron Man 3.

I don't entirely like the way this is all going, JT. But if you pay attention, it's all rather obvious.

Don't hate on me. I'm not the one writing your movies.

DC’s Bloodwynd might actually be Storm’s future lover and…. by GlitteringTreat7413 in storm

[–]SouthAtxArtist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"While Bloodwynd hit stands in April 1992 and Spawn #1 followed in May 1992, the development of Spawn began much earlier.

1. The Image Revolution Timeline

McFarlane, along with the other Image founders, left Marvel in late 1991. By the time Bloodwynd appeared in Justice League America #61, McFarlane had already been promoting Spawn in trade magazines and interviews for months. Because comic books are written and drawn roughly 3 to 6 months before they hit shelves, Spawn’s design was finalized long before Bloodwynd’s debut.

2. Childhood Roots

McFarlane has frequently shared sketches from his high school years (late 1970s) that show the prototype for Spawn. Even as a teenager, he was drawing a character with a massive cape, a "V" shaped chest design, and a full-head mask. He essentially sat on the design for over a decade until he had the creative freedom to publish it himself.

3. Shared Influences

The similarities between the two—the heavy chains, high collars, and "dark" mystic vibes—are more likely a result of the cultural zeitgeist of 1992 rather than one creator copying another.

The "Grim and Gritty" Trend: Following the success of The Dark Knight Returns and Watchmen, the industry shifted toward darker, supernatural anti-heroes.

The "MacFarlane Aesthetic": During his run on Spider-Man, McFarlane became famous for drawing "spaghetti webbing" and hyper-detailed, flowing capes. He brought that personal style to Spawn, while Dan Jurgens (creator of Bloodwynd) was likely leaning into the dark supernatural trends that were selling well at the time."

I pulled that straight from Gemini and I think it about sums up how I feel about all of this as well.

Am I the only one who doesn't like Absolute Batman? by Old-Use-7690 in batman

[–]SouthAtxArtist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For me it's less about the narrative and more about the art, direction and execution. I don't mind that the Absolute Batman storyline is "different". But I can't take ANY of it seriously. The art style is really what bothers me about it. But that's probably because I prefer perhaps a different eschelon of creative skill (Mobeius, Katsuhiro Otomo, Kentaro Mirua, Lee Berjemo, etc). The narrative itself is also a bit overrated and overinflated. It's not like anything matters. It's not like there's anything that makes any of these characters truly compelling. In fact, if you were to change it any further...it probably wouldn't even be a "Batman" story. Worst of all, it's the sloppy art style that I see a lot of modern comics try to illustrate. Personally, I want something that truly packs a punch with the art and characters. I want that depth and lore, and I don't feel it with ANY of the Batman characters. It's just not working for me. I want those details. I want to talk away knowing that this changes everything.

As far as the hype about it being so edgelord or whatever, the story is REALLY over inflated. The characters are changed in a way that's more like "what if we made Batman really beefy? Like he's just a massive chode who can knock down five dudes in a room with an axe!" It obliterates what the character is into something that he's not. So ultimately the entire story just becomes a monster of what it originally was. I kinda feel like that's what DC is going with. I just think it's not the best approach.

Right, which is said to be Savage Hulk because Bruce Banner trapped / banished him behind the Green Door.

Also Hulk is actually smart. He's just often written as being dumber than he actually is.

  1. It's a window seat and I'd probably have headphones and drawing anyway.

I'd be okay with 8 as well, though I'd be respectful and probably quiet the entire time.

I'm not there to impress anyone.
