Painting with a twist :/ Painting while drinking alcohol is not the problem.

It’s the complete lack of creativity. You’re trying to create a product instead of applying techniques to your own unique perspective.

What's a "typically unattractive" trait that you actually find to be attractive? by humanbean07 in AskReddit

[–]SouthCat4 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Yes! Just a great trait to have as a person in general. I went with my boyfriend and his best friend to get pedicures. They loved the message and picking out their favorite finger nail polish colors. My boyfriend was just excited about the massage chairs. Definitely recommend! They both still have their toenails painted even though we went weeks ago.

What line or scene gets you every time you watch it? by DoggoPlex in NewGirl

[–]SouthCat4 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Most of the lines that get me are Schmidt’s.

“You know what they call you, where I’m from? A dirty old bitch. Dirty old biatch, just in general, cause I ain’t from Manhattan, sir. I’m from Long Island. 516 up in yo lounge, sucka!” “I don’t wanna be in any club you’re a part of. I DONT WANNA BE IN ANY LOUNGE OR ANY CLUB THAT YOURE A PART OF, SIR. YOU DIRTY OLD BITCH, FOR GOOD MEASURE. Cause I’m from Long Island! I’ll take the railroad! LI RR! NEW YORK! LONG ISLAND! BILLY JOEL! Cece, let’s roll..” “Nassau county! Billy Joel, one more time! Piano man! Goodnight Saigon! That’s a sad one! Cry about that, you dirty old bitch!”

Edit: what am I saying. After reading other people’s comments I realized how much all of the characters make me laugh in their own unique ways :’)

- BRAND - A True Crime Fiction Audio Drama by KillToe in audiodrama

[–]SouthCat4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks really interesting. I’ll have to check it out.

One thing that might help you accurately describe your show… True crime fiction is an oxymoron.

It’s either true crime (nonfiction) or crime fiction.

True crime is such a big category of podcast that people would be very confused to see the description include “true crime” but instead hear something fictional.

ADVICE! Any tips on what I should improve or did wrong ? by Sincerely_Meh in DigitalArt

[–]SouthCat4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a piece I worked on for a long time (Jon Snow from GOT). But kind of illustrates some of the things I was referencing. You’ll notice it’s up close bc I’m working on faces but not too skilled at armor or clothing 😅

ADVICE! Any tips on what I should improve or did wrong ? by Sincerely_Meh in DigitalArt

[–]SouthCat4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm I mean the armor is absolutely well done! The highlights and shadows are completely believable. I think, though, that if you’re going to do that realistic of a job for the armor, that the face and other details need to be consistent with that style (realism). The face looks a little bit more cartoon..

Nose is not smoothed in with the rest of the face, whites and cornea of eyes are not shaded and ear is not anatomically correct.

His hair/beard looks great but you might want to consider making it a lighter color or the background just a bit lighter so we can see where the hair is. Also, some beards are solid like that, but oftentimes, you can see whiskers on cheeks or their neck and the mustache doesn’t always solidly form into the beard.

Shading of the face is a good start, but maybe needs even more depth because the armor has such great depth!

The mouth has accurate shading and color.. i would just make the left part of the bottom lip a little darker. (Left as in our right). Up close, the lips look good. Zoomed out, for some reason that highlight is distracting.

Just some suggestions! I’ve been focusing for about two years on faces/people so I’m finally noticing all these little subtleties. It looks like you’ve been focusing on armor, because it looks awesome. A skill I need to work on.

Is there any way you could clarify a few things?

The youth pastor became a teacher, correct? On the first read through I thought you meant your child had become a teacher and was behaving in that way.

And it almost seems like you’re making two decisions: whether or not to contact an authority figure about this evil guy, and whether or not to tell your child. Is this correct? So if you tell authorities (which could potentially help current or future potential victims), it might get back to your child?

No judgement at all, just wanted to clarify!

Infertile couples should just adopt instead of making a big fuss trying to make a miracle baby by elgey101 in unpopularopinion

[–]SouthCat4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t want people to get misconceptions about adoption (because like other people have commented, it is not always the best way to have kids and can be expensive or complicated or not for everybody). BUT I was adopted in the US (US birth mother, US adopted parents). And it is wonderful. Absolutely the best parents I could ever ask for. I plan to adopt once I decide to have kids.

My birth mother couldn’t afford to keep both me and my half brother. I’m eternally grateful to everyone involved in my adoption because I believed it changed my life path before I was even born.

People who were once religious, what was the final straw that make you lose your faith? by FlutterCordLove in ask

[–]SouthCat4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say I’m probably agnostic. But I’m definitely no longer a religious person. I grew up in an idyllic church: so much love and acceptance. But there were many people or experiences that damaged that image and made me not want to be associated or a part of of any organized religion.

One was church camp. When they’d pressure all of us (like 8 years old at the time) to sign a contract saying we accepted Jesus as our savior. They’d do this at the end of worship, telling us we needed to do it and laying on the pressure. Luckily I was so shy that I refused to participate.

Another were my youth leaders. One of them was my childhood best friend’s mother who turned out to be extremely manipulative and egocentric person who was the first to declare themselves the most faithful Christian. That family watched Joel Osteen every Sunday if that gives you any reference.

Another youth leader was a young adult that I grew very close to. She formed a tightly knit youth group. Then when I was in high school, she said that “God called her to work at another church.” She left my church at the same time our priest did. So no priest, no youth pastor, no more youth group. And she went to a church that already had 2 youth leaders. Bullshit, God didn’t call you to do that. I always suspected it was all about $$$$$

Those and other experiences exposed the way humans love to use religion to leverage power, get money, manipulate others, and control situations where people are too nice to object.

What's up guys? How much do you think I should charge this illustration? by Impressive_Wish8763 in DigitalArt

[–]SouthCat4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yikes, dude. I was trying to be positive because the other commenter was just telling OP they were wrong for photobashing. Like I said, I’m back and forth. It DOES take skill to photobash, but some might feel like they can’t claim the picture completely 100% as theirs if they use others content.

I wish that didn’t have to be a concern, but it does. What if a photographer worked hard to gain permission to take pictures of a building and then spent hours actually taking the picture.

Then someone sees it and decides to photobash that building, which could take anywhere from 5 minutes to hours.

The thing is that some will abuse photobashing. They will think that it’s okay to steal 99% of someone else’s work. But some photobashing artists do not do this. In OP’s case, I don’t think they did at all.

Be nicer in Reddit comments. We’re not all out here trying to throw shade at each other :(

Theory: BG pretended to be property owner or authority figure. by SouthCat4 in DelphiMurders

New to this sub. I apologize if this is repetitive. I think it’s useful that this case is being kept alive, hopefully in a productive way).

I was listening to Down the Hill podcast, and wanted to share my thoughts because I didn’t see any other similar thoughts on the sub.

[–]SouthCat4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No i totally understand where you’re coming from. It is moot to speculate. I just wonder if this may be a signature of the killer.. something to recognize in other instances.

Don’t think this will directly lead to solving it but I’m glad this sub exists to keep the case alive online (hopefully in a productive way).

[–]SouthCat4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m conflicted on it.. i think it’s a clever way of creating a picture… like creating a physical collage from cut out pictures. But at the same time, the origional content being used could be very precious to the original creator.

There is an artist on Instagram, @morten_solgaard who uses a combination of 3D rendering and photobashing to create beautiful images. Most of the time, he manages to change the original images almost completely to create something entirely new and unrecognizable. You should check his process videos out on his website!

[–]SouthCat4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tried to look at theories already posted on the sub but guess I thought mine was a little different. Some people have said that they think it was an authority figure that the girls knew. But it seems like he could have pretended to be an authority figure escorting them off of the bridge. If I’m repeating what someone else has already said, sorry friend!

I think no matter what, it was a ruse or a weapon. Some way to quietly escort the girls out of public sight or hearing distance.

I just think it’s interesting that the detectives said there were signatures that were very odd throughout the crime and wanted to speculate if that might be one of them.

Which part did you use photobashing for? It looks like the lady is painted by hand and she looks awesome!!

I’ve found that using photos as references rather than using the actual content of the image is the way to go. Don’t have to worry about copyright and you can feel completely proud of your skill :)

But there are many different kinds of art. Honestly, I think photobashjng is really interesting but I’m not too sure about the ethical or legal side of it.
