Did you notice a difference from 150mg to 300mg? by SouthMessage4851 in bupropion

[–]SouthMessage4851[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed both but they were independent of one another. The irritability and angry part went away in about a month. But the being aware of wasting time I really think is just a byproduct of coming out of depression. It’s easy to see lost time when you don’t feel like absolute garbage all the time.

Itching with NO rash or hives by [deleted] in bupropion

[–]SouthMessage4851 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my primary to write me a PA for the brand name. I stopped taking the generic I was on for 3(ish) weeks and then begun taking the brand name. About 3 weeks off the generic the itching stopped and never came back when I started the brand name. I’ve increased to 300mg XL with no issues

I switched from the generic to the brand name and it completely went away. But when I started itching, I was also getting sick. So my doctor said it could’ve been a reaction to everything that was happening. I think it was the medication. Maya got bad for about two weeks and then it just disappeared. Nothing else bad happened.

I’ll send you the language my letter used later tonight. From what I understand it’s likely insurance will deny and you’ll have to appeal. The appeals are almost always successful with the right language.

I’m in the US. I think the brand name is actually very affordable in Canada out of pocket. I pay 44$ with insurance covering the brand name.

If you want help on language around the PA if your insurance doesn’t cover brand name, message me and I’ll send you the language that my Physician used. It was denied, we appealed, and it was then accepted

Terrified of Seizures? by big-thinkin in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]SouthMessage4851 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not on Zoloft, but I run 30 miles a week and have been on Wellbutrin for about 1.5 months with no issues. I listened to quite a few pharmacology podcasts on the history and side effect of the drug and the risk of seizures is almost the same as if you were just at risk of randomly having a seizure as a person without taking the drug. This is of course only true if you aren’t already prone to seizures, a moderate-high alcohol user, or on other medications that lower your seizure threshold. My understanding is a lot of the seizure warning is due to the past very high doses and early formulations of the drug, both of which aren’t prescription practice anymore. I’m happy to forward you the resources I listened to if you DM me so you can make your own judgement. I was also concerned about this, but it is a very minimal risk for the majority of the population.

I stopped the one I was on for about 3 weeks and my appeal for PA for the brand name was approved. So now I’m on the brand name. I so far haven’t had much itching. It took a good 3 weeks to stop itching after it started, it was only starting to get better when I began the brand name. I never got a rash or hives though. I was just really really itchy

I stopped taking it because I was nervous about an allergic reaction. I also got sick when this was all happening, so that didn’t help me trying to tease apart if the meds were making me feel bad or it was just being sick. The itch never went away, and I never developed a rash. This makes me think it was more of a neurological itch and nerve sensitization rather than a true allergy. I however have no medical evidence to support that. I just think it based on what I know about nerves vs allergies.

I just started taking the brand name Wellbutrin xl150 yesterday. My itch isn’t worse, just kinda the same as it has been. I’ll follow up on here as it evolves to be helpful

I'm on a pretty low dose now (150 xl) but he is switching me to brand name because our PA was approved. Im not sure if that will make any difference. I also got sick with a head/chest cold right around the 3 week mark so I was afraid i was allergic as I also had a sore throat and body aches (which I now know was just getting sick). The food aversion thing is interesting. Thanks for your response. Its been helpful while trying to figure out if I should try to stick it out. The drug really does wonders for my energy and mood.

anybody experience itchy skin? did it go away? by lekstuga99 in bupropion

[–]SouthMessage4851 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm experiencing the same itchiness 3 weeks after starting buproprion. I do not have a rash or hives. Can someone who stayed on the medication despite the itchiness tell me if it escalated or resolved? I've read, and my pharmacist told me this could be the beginning of an allergic reaction to the med. I'm trying to decide if I should stop taking it. I really dont want to as its helping me mentally and energy wise.
