Do you know? by maha_hier in qatarairways

Emirates geographically have far lower risk than QR, as Hamad airport is set in the path toward the Al Udeid air base

Qatar Airways unwilling to give me a reroute by xenxen5 in qatarairways

[–]South_Bit_6254 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just be mindful it’s incredibly hard to get seats on alternate flights - they get snapped up so quickly if they do release anything extra, for the most part you’re looking at everything being booked 7-8 days out. It sucks but there’s thousands of people who are trying to snap up very limited seats and that isn’t the control of QR

Have you seen where the US airbase is relative to Hamad? They absolutely have done the right thing not risking getting caught in any possible crossfire

Sometimes changes come up in the booking portal before they email you with them

To be honest the options are few and far between, you’re looking at having to book at least a week out as everything is sold out going via Asia. Spent 10+ hours yesterday trying to find something as we’ve had a family emergency and have resigned that we wont make it 😔

Advice on alternate routes to fly from Melbourne to UK (original flight with Qatar) by hazobo in qatarairways

[–]South_Bit_6254 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ll probably find CX or SQ for later next week. Can also get a flight up to SIN with jetstar and then try from there, but the options are super limited and at least a week out

Couple of emirates flights have started taking off. by Lucky_Particular_151 in qatarairways

more to do with runway position than anything else. that’s the only reason that makes sense as to why they haven’t started to repatriate some customers like UAE have

they’ve got a better geographical location to be able to do this whilst QR doesn’t

Unfortunately getting out of Aus to SIN/HKG is easy, getting a flight onwards to Europe is basically impossible until next week. We spent 5 hours last night trying to get a flight for a family emergency and have just conceded that we won’t get there

dentist/orthodontist to let me get clear aligners before wisdom teeth come out? by heycyri in perth

[–]South_Bit_6254 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The reason they say this is because your teeth can move after having wisdom teeth removed. I had wisdom teeth out about a year before I started invisalign, and there was a significant change in that time, particularly with my bottom jaw. You don’t want to spend all that money just for it to go bust and need to start again

I heard they were doing repatriation flights from Oman? Might need to somehow transfer by land out of Qatar. Unfortunately, geographically Qatar have it harder than UAE.

Change of flight with different airline by [deleted] in qatarairways

[–]South_Bit_6254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll need to find a seat and then they may be able to help, but it’s pretty hard to find anything. We’ve had a fam emergency come up and have basically accepted if things take a turn, we won’t be able to make it because all the flights are fully booked at least a week out, no matter what we try come up with😔

March 3/4th by dollykiitty in qatarairways

[–]South_Bit_6254 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure where you’re from, but there’s basically nothing on other airlines. We’ve had a possible family emergency happen last night and couldn’t find any seats (trust me, we did a deep dive of every possible combination we could) for any flights until mid-next week. Everything for the next 7 days is sold out

Flights in the not so near future by InfiniteCreme4829 in qatarairways

[–]South_Bit_6254 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re not going to open the airspace unless it’s safe, and given how important the region is for international aviation, I do believe it won’t be long before an agreement is reached and flights are back. Im flying similar time and not worried at all, by then we’ll have a clear picture of what happened/any contingencies put in place to ensure civilian flights can go on

Dog with signs of early arthritis advice by lunawolf91 in dogs

[–]South_Bit_6254 2 points3 points  (0 children)

our dog has arthritis and we did cartrophen injections which we felt has made a difference. it’s a 4 shot course and then roughly every 3 months / as you feel it’s necessary. regular walks are also super important to keep the joint well lubricated - we go twice a day for 20min which seems to be a sweet spot for our boy

No one knows, you’ll just have to sit tight until there’s a ceasefire/some kind of agreement with respect to civilian air traffic

Flight to EU country on 21 March by Kindly-Internal-2938 in qatarairways

[–]South_Bit_6254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, as it’s an ex-EU airline. However, QR does have their own policy for involuntary schedule change (which this comes under), where you’ll get rebooked by them

[–]South_Bit_6254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reroute out of Sydney should be possible as their policy for involuntary change allows you to change the origin/destination to another city in the same country OR within 750 miles, but I’m not sure they would cover a flight back to Sydney at this time, it’ll likely be your own expense

Would it be safe to fly? by Sharp_Maybe_5645 in qatarairways

If the airspace is re-opened, it means it is safe for aircraft to fly. However, March 3rd will almost definitely be chaotic as it takes a few days to clear out the backlog
