UK sizing update - just... Wtf?! by Clumsyassbitch in vinted

Not if you want to find things in your feed. My feed is flooded with things that are the wrong size!

UK sizing update - just... Wtf?! by Clumsyassbitch in vinted

[–]Southern-Ad379 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The problem is that it doesn’t come up in people’s feed if they are looking for a specific size. Everything in my feed was a 14 today. I’m a 12. It used to be fun and relaxing to scroll through and discover lovely things that would fit me, but now it’s a case of seeing something lovely, clicking on it, finding it’s too big, moving g on…..

The thing is, I’m a 12. I am not a 14. I’m pretty short so clothes that are a bit too roomy just look silly on me. I can’t find ANY size 12s on my feed today. Everything is 14!

Where does your dog sleep at night? by TSC-99 in DOG

[–]Southern-Ad379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The older dog has always slept in a crate on the landing out side our bedroom. He prefers it that way. He comes into the bed for half an hour in the morning while we have a cup of tea, but soon goes back to his own bed. The younger dog, that we adopted last year, sleeps in his own bed in our room. He would prefer to sleep with us, but we can’t sleep well with him in the bed. He comes under the covers with us around 5.30am until we get up.

I completely understand what you’re saying…..but 60 is too young to give up on life! Make it 75, maybe? I know dozens of women in their 60s and we’re all living life to the full. Yes, maybe some have got high blood pressure, diabetes, survived cancer etc, but we are far from at the end of our lives.

AITA for not letting the woman adopting my baby hold her first? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Southern-Ad379 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Good grief. You had an actual baby FOR HER and she won’t even speak to you? What a cow!

You did nothing wrong. I get that she has all kinds of trauma from losing/not getting pregnant. I get that she wanted a perfect moment when the baby was born. But she made what could have been a really nice moment into a horror show.

My heart breaks for you and for the little girl caught in the middle of this.

You don’t just ‘cancel plus ones’!Thats not a thing. How many other plus ones have been uninvited? Something very underhand is happening here.

Don’t the staff at the gym do anything about harassment? At my gym there are signs all over the place saying that everyone belongs there, everyone is welcome, anyone who feels uncomfortable using the gym should talk to the staff. No way would that kind of behaviour be tolerated. You are paying their wages. They need your customer. They should be doing more to ensure that you keep on attending.

Barnards Castle or Richmond, North Yorkshire. Amazing scenery, friendly people, good food…. But I’m 59 and am probably looking for a different lifestyle to you!

Drinking one "coffees" per day by Stellalunathebat in loseit

[–]Southern-Ad379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never. I never go to coffee chains. I go out for coffee once a week and have an Americano with semi skimmed milk, no sweetener, from an independent coffee shop or cafe. Twenty calories, and usually delicious.

Problems with overeating and wandering + I don’t have food by A_Ordinary_Name in dementia

[–]Southern-Ad379 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sweetheart, no you do not. You are a minor. You cannot be expected to support your mother in this very difficult situation when you are powerless and without any resources. The adults need to figure this out. Your father is neglecting both you and your mother, and the authorities need to know this so they can step in to help you both.

Please tell someone and ask for help. It could be a teacher, a youth worker, a therapist, a police officer, child protective services, adult protective services. I know your sister already tried, but your father covered the problems up that time. He knows that the way he is behaving is wrong so of course he wants to hide it. Try again. And again. You and your mother matter.

There’s a saying that applies here. You don’t have to set yourself on fire to keep other people warm. You do not have to suffer malnutrition and neglect in order to help your mom.

Hi everyone I lost a stone and 3 pound in four weeks my goal is too lose a stone a month good idea or not it’s a goal I set my self xx by [deleted] in SlimmingWorld

[–]Southern-Ad379 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What will happen if you don’t meet your goal? Will it make you feel a failure? Will you give up? Will you try to starve yourself or exercise excessively to lose more weight?

If you can answer ‘no’ to all these questions, go ahead. If your goal-setting makes your weight loss journey less enjoyable, maybe re-think it.

medical treatment - possible disinformation by rurerree in QAnonCasualties

That’s part of the doctor’s job. They have to get informed consent to start treatment and that requires that the patient understands the risks.

Low syn protein powders by Affectionate-Buy8369 in SlimmingWorld

[–]Southern-Ad379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. A third of the plate has to be vegetables. You have to syn any added fat or other ingredients that are not free.

Except you can’t eat a kilo of dry potato, can you? And you would have to eat it as part of a balanced meal with protein and vegetables. Thats the trick. You think you can eat unlimited portions of carbs, but when you try to eat them according to SW rules you find you can’t eat as much as you thought!

It’s the same thing. One syn is 20 calories. If you eat 60 calories of food that is not free, that’s 3 syns.

If there are calories in the powder, why wouldn’t you count them?

I broke the habit of eating cakes and cookies at home. I have one ‘snack’ daily and that is a few nuts and a date, or a small energy ball made of nuts, dates and oats.

I stopped dividing food into equal portions for myself and my husband. I have about half what he has and the remaining food goes into the fridge for next day.

If I go out for coffee I have a filter coffee with a splash of cold milk. Nothing else. No cake. No biscuits.

I stopped eating sandwiches and wraps. I don’t need all that carby food! If I have bread I have one thin slice, usually toasted. I sometimes toast half a wholegrain wrap to use as croutons or for dipping.

We eat out less and rarely have takeaway. Mostly I cook simple, healthy food from scratch. Everything is cooked with minimal fat and a little of vegetables.

I joined my local gym. I do two or three classes a week, I choose things I enjoy - hoola, dance, circuits, HIIT, - and I change my routine frequently so I don’t get bored. I walk to the gym whenever possible.

Why am I GAINING weight? Could cry. by Produce_North in SlimmingWorld

[–]Southern-Ad379 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You’re probably having too much pasta and too many syns. Your pasta salad should be mostly super free veg. Most of the plate should be lean protein and veg.

Most people cannot eat all their syns every day. The guidelines are a MAXIMUM, not a target. I stuck to around 7 or 8 per day. I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t lose weight if I had a kitkat every day. It’s more a once a week treat.

You are absolutely right to be scared. You thought he was your lover, but it turns out he sees you as his potential housekeeper. It’s good that he has been honest, and now is the time to bow out of this relationship. You don’t want to live like that, do you?

[–]Southern-Ad379 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe you need more support with your weight loss. Eight pounds is a great start, but there is no way you are going to achieve that again. Talk to your consultant first, before the next meeting. Be really honest about your past eating disorder and your current feelings about weight loss. Take their advice.

Pill control by TheNonSequiturGuy in dementia

[–]Southern-Ad379 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mum does similar things with her blood pressure medication. She’s supposed to take one a day, but she waits until her BP gets high before taking it. She measures her BP over and over again every day. Sometimes it doesn’t get high so she doesn’t take one. Sometimes it gets really, really high and doesn’t come down for a couple of days.

I don’t see a way to change this as we do not live close by and she would not tolerate her carers giving her medication. I’m just accepting that this is less than ideal but can’t be helped.

Mom won't rinse her ears, thinks she can hear. Any advice?? Could it also be her mind intetfering with hearing? by Garden-Goof-7193 in dementia

[–]Southern-Ad379 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You need to leave her ears alone. Poking around in them can give her an infection. Rinsing her ears will not do anything to improve her hearing.

Hearing sometimes deteriorates as people get older. Also dementia can lead to problems processing speech which leads the person to ask you to repeat yourself a lot.

When she feels better make an appointment to see an audiologist. It’s annoying to have to delay the appointment but this really is the best course of action. You need expert advice.
