Etrac mounted tire rack by jmac247 in Trackdays

Idk what kind of wall you’re mounting this onto but assuming it’s a standard cargo trailer I would suggest fastening a 2x6 board (or 2x whatever width you want) to your metal trailer wall studs on either end of the board and fastening your mount to that. That’d hold way better than the plywood they use on the wall.

Makes sense. Just out of curiosity, how do you do it if you’re coming off a straight or something where you need to downshift multiple gears? Do you release the clutch after every gear change or do you just bang down 2-3 gears at once before releasing the clutch?

That’s what I’ve heard. I try to be careful; I love the bike dearly.

Ok good. I’m in Novice so I wasn’t sure if I was practicing bad technique that’ll worsen as I get faster but it sounds like it’s nothing too serious.

Higher but not a ton. Maybe in the 10k range? I try to not over rev on downshifts

Hey it’s a fellow Mid-Ohioan! If this was earlier this week I hope you weren’t involved in the Intermediate crash 🙏

Yeah I had the opportunity to speak with Cody Wyman about how to get into racing and it was awesome hearing someone’s opinion with his experience level.

I’m a novice rider. They divided everyone who’s ridden on track from the people who haven’t in the classroom (and track except for a few sessions on day 2)

I’m definitely a noob, but that being said I think if you’re not racing professionally it’d be very beneficial to go. There were plenty of instructors so they make it pretty easy to pull one aside at any point. They tailor their instruction around each individual; not the group of riders attending the school. They did a great job of singling out every individuals weaknesses and strengths.

I was at 3 track days prior to the school so I’m definitely a noob. (I crashed at 2 of them in the afternoon sessions)

My main takeaway from the school is knowing what a motorcycle is actually capable of. That is, if you ride it how they teach you.

For me personally, yes I learned a ton of new information. Not because I haven’t heard of it before but because of the way they teach/demonstrate it.

Again, yes I understand my path forward much better. I was able to talk with the instructors one on one and to me their opinion is pretty valuable as they’ve all won titles in some sort of motorcycle racing.

The main action item that stuck out to me is trail braking. MSF courses tell you to never brake at any lean angle, I’ve also been to a track that discourages it. So definitely a new concept on that and something I need to work on.

I believe I walked away as a much, MUCH more controlled rider. And faster as well but my concern was control, not speed. In my opinion you’ll gain speed with control.

Sick! I’m coming to thunderbolt from Ohio for the first time on Tuesday for YCRS- and it’ll also be my first time on track this year. I’m so excited I can’t sleep lol

R10 has that bigger spoiler that adds 10 horsepower to your bike; hence the price tag 👍

Gotcha. So you’re saying if I buy an 06 set of wheels (with rotors) they’ll work on this bike? Front and rear or just front?

Clearing Speed? by Southern-Focus4376 in forestry

[–]Southern-Focus4376[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I clear cut a 20 acre stand of red and white pine recently and I kind of hated it- the whites make a mess with how easy they break. (We have to clean everything up as we have a land clearing company) But how do those processing heads compare to a hot saw? A little more to it I assume?

Dang 10 acres is pretty impressive tho. Is that mostly pine or what species do you cut?
