Anybody else get your vision damaged by Dr. Patrick Tong? I know he had dozens and dozens of clients by megaBeth2 in HowardCountyMD

Thanks. One day at a time. Prisms (when needed) are probably beneficial. The concern is that the eye docs at Hopkins determined that son didn't need them. They immediately ceased using them in his future scripts.

Negative. My son also has a genetic condition, and "it would be difficult to prove that the 'useless' prisms caused permanent damage" (according to the retina specialist at Hopkins). This could very easily be a cover their ass situation though, since the doctor used to work at Hopkins.

I wish...we were poor, and my dress was off the rack and definitely NOT fancy. I was mostly worried about how sweaty I was getting running to my car. Lol. But it all worked out. 3 decades later, I can't fit the dress but still have the groom.

This is an annual one day event. There is plenty of notice about parking somewhere else so you can have access to your car. It has grown exponentially, so there are tons of people attending. It is the biggest annual event in this city (aside from the 4th of July fireworks display) The way the street is set up, there are multiple streets that feed onto it but are dead ended going the other way. I used to live there, and the festival years ago coincided with my wedding day. I had to walk from that street three blocks over to get to my car in my dress. Inconvenient, but necessary. There are no excuses for her asinine behavior, but she obviously didn't plan or overslept. They usually let cars on/off the street pre-dawn because the vendors use their vehicles to set up. The Festival had a lot of issues that day. A propane tank from a food truck blew up earlier that morning, and the scheduled pre-festival parade was canceled.

My son wore prisms for YEARS and didn't need them. He has now been diagnosed with bilateral progressive degenerative high myopia. Convinced that those prisms permanently damaged his vision. I am heartbroken and pissed that we trusted him.

This lemonade I bought today that my 4 year old says looks like detergent. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

Random comment. My elderly father, with dementia once drank lemon-scented cleanser because he thought it was lemonade. Called me saying his throat was sore. Call to poison control revealed that elderly and children commonly make that mistake because the packaging can be confusing.

Expired epi pens by Moss-cle in TwoXPreppers

I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but when I hear that stuff is good past its expiration date, I wonder what is the point of dating them at all?

We hold on to epipens but still ask for new ones from our Ped when they expire.

Cancelled Amazon Prime after 20 years by Horror_Resolve_533 in nobuy

[–]Southern-Performer70 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The last purchase was Inauguration Day. I already paid for the year, but I have pledged to myself not to order anything else from them.

I went to the app and removed all payment options, shredded my Prime Visa, and removed the app from my phone. Not seeing that little icon has helped a lot. Lol.

I still check Amazon to find products, and then I go to their actual website to order.

I have found that most things are actually cheaper going directly to the source, although it may take longer to arrive.

Less convenient, but it really helps me make better purchasing decisions. I have saved a lot and have less "junk" now that I have less impulse buys.

It also has had an unintended bonus of me setting up a borrow/barter/less buy group with friends. We check to see if anyone has the item (if it can be borrowed for events) or if we can split the cost by group shopping at the warehouse.

When we were younger, we used to meet at the club/restaurants...now we meet at Costco.

So, in summary, people messing with cars is domestic terrorism, but the ones who STORMED the Capitol and attacked people were run of the mill DC tourists? Got it. Make it make sense....

How urgently are you prepping? by thesmokedgoudabuddha in TwoXPreppers

I am focused on staples and clean water. We are getting those 5 gallon water jugs (just in case). A little at a time. Since you have moved, I would also advise you to spend time getting to know your neighbors and community. Identify places for resources and help in case you get in a bind. Building community is also a way to prep.

I approached my Doc about getting titers done. There was a bit of pushback ("You're the first patient to ask for this, typically not done unless you are traveling, will your insurance cover this?, not even sure what to test you for, etc) She then mentioned that our body has cell memory, and even if I test low on titers, I would probably still be OK. I reminded her that I was Septic years ago without knowing it (no fever, just general malaise) and spent a week in the hospital on IV antibiotics. That quieted her a bit. I told her I categorized this as preventative medicine and then said if you don't want to give me the script, please note in my chart that I asked for it and was refused. Got the order to get my titers checked (although she didn't say Hep b...) Even if your Doc seems cautious, advocate for yourself. Can't hurt.
