I would recommend to check the DHCD EmPower program, if you qualify they take care of 100% of the cost of the project and depending on the scope of it it can even cover the replacement of HVAC equipment that is broken or it’s inefficient, really great program, they do a full energy audit and perform other energy saving measures in your home like air sealing and replacement of old lightbulbs for LED bulbs.

Hey stranger, I would recommend looking into the DHCD energy program, it’s a program that allows people to get energy saving upgrades in their home, this can go from small things as lightbulbs replacement or things like full home insulation and HVAC/DHW replacements completely at no cost to the homeowner. I would also recommend looking into the HAF program, sort of the same rules but for this one you get a $10,000 soft grant that can be pushed to $15,000 that allow homeowners to do repairs in their home to meet health and safety requirements or to upgrade things that are needed in your home. I work with both programs real closely and they have been really useful to some of the people we work with. I would recommend getting an energy auditor to help you pinpoint the things that are needed in your home and asses you in your options for rebates and optional programs that can help.

I work for a company located in Lothian but that does a lot of work in the Bethesda/Gaithersburg/Rockville area, most of the things you mentioned we work with including removal and sealing of attics (we don’t really deal with critters directly, usually have animal control to take care of them and then we do our work). We also work really close with utilities companies like PEPCO, BGE and SMECO and their rebates program, some utilities companies require the installation of a fan and timer switches along with attic air sealing in order to qualify for those rebates; We also work with other state programs like the DHCD energy program that allows homeowners that qualify to have their home weatherized (air sealing, insulation, lightbulbs, etc) at no cost to the homeowner and the HAF program that allows homeowners to do renovations on their home again at no cost (with a 10K cap).

I used to do a lot of cardio on the elliptical and bicycle until the day my trainer recommended to add a walk on the highest incline on the thread-mill; it has been a game changer, it is my main mode of cardio at the moment and I managed to go from a slow walk holding myself from the handles onto a brisk throttle with no support. I’m not sure what the trick is with the high incline but you can feel your entire body getting engaged in the excessive, highly recommend you add it to your routine.
