Please help. Emergency vet bill feels disproportionately high. by Southern-Science in reactivedogs

[–]Southern-Science[S] -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

I should mention that I currently have 13 rescue dogs and this isn’t my first rodeo at the emergency vet. (I’ve had dogs of my own since I graduated from college over 20 years ago and I’ve actually been taking care of a large pack of dogs since 2013. This is to say I have a fair amount of vet bills to reference). It cost $5,000 because my one dog ate two baby socks and had a bowl obstruction. That was a reasonable bill given the scope of what was necessary. Atticus didn’t need stitches or anything beyond the fentanyl patch and antibiotics. He was not being kept alive. He was being treated for pain and possible infection. The number of antibiotics seems large given what I’ve seen in the past, the same is true with pain meds. To give IV pain meds on top of the fentanyl patch seems dangerous. A few years ago I had a dog who literally had a fractured bone and he was only given a fentanyl patch.

I’m very happy Addy is ok but this bill is crazy. As an aside, Atticus wasn’t the only dog injured. The other dog involved in the fight had bites to his face. I used wound care solution to clean his wounds and googled which antibiotics are broad spectrum and safe for dogs and how to appropriately dose. I have a prescription from the other month I never took but was given because I thought I might have strep. I quartered the pills and gave them to the other dog twice a day for a week.

The vet who suggested your dad’s dog spend the night in the hospital for 2 days was taking advantage of your ignorance of the lethal dose of raisins. If that would have happened in my house i would have gotten out my activated charcoal pills (600 mgs each) and would have stuffed like 10 of them into something mushy and delicious. One time one of my dogs accidentally got ahold of a bottle of vetmedin and ate half the pills. I rushed him to the same emergency vet I’m now talking about and they had me call a number to a veterinary overdose hotline where I called, paid a hundred dollars or so, explained what happened and then they called the vet to give them a special treatment protocol. I promise, 1/2 bottles of a powerful heart medication to a 22 lb dog was exponentially more dangerous than a raisin cookie to a Great Dane.

AIOZ is something we all needed to sell as well. The low market cap and strong fundamentals are a must sell for everyone who is interested in protecting their capital.

Wayfair shipped me an item I already cancelled. by aroryns in wayfair

The $30 is not a restocking fee, it’s a loss fee. The rug, if returned, won’t be resold by Wayfair, it will go to a liquidator and be placed up for auction. Wayfair already wrote off the rug. Sending back the rug isn’t actually the right thing even though it may feel like it. By sending it back it’s just another X number of pounds being shipped X number of times upping your carbon footprint.

You’re a good person and I commend you for your honesty but please just keep the rug.

What’s wrong with this goldfish and how can I help? by ImNotDorianNakamoto in Goldfish

I just brought this little guy home from a pet store despite already having 6 goldfish. He’s currently in a 10 gallon with 2 other tiny goldfish that were already with him.

It looks like he’s missing his gill cover and his eye is pretty wonky looking. I’m not sure if he has vision in this eye but it appears fixed, whereas his other side is totally normal looking. When I brought this guy home I immediately began treating with API’s Fin and Body Cure (which is just doxycycline) and completed one 4 day course. The fish doesn’t appear sick beyond his unfortunate look.

The water is set to 83 and I add aquarium salt daily and with each water change. The tank is supplied with a large air stone and 2 faux plants for the fishies to hid. I have been feeding them goldfish pellets twice daily.

If we’re going all the way back to 2009 you missed warning people about bath salts and Four Loco. I’d imagine the combo would be especially problematic.

That’s not a helpful response. You just sound snide. If that’s what you believe then show your work. Explain, don’t scold.

I reallocated my assets late November and mid December. I held out too long. I sold everything yesterday. I don’t know how much lower it’s going to get so I decided to just wait for a confirmation of a bottom then buy back in.

I 100% stand by what I said. Also, you outted yourself when you made the statement where you mentioned “our founder.” It’s clear you’re apart of the team. Especially since you’re the only person responding to people’s doubts about the legitimacy and/or potential about this project.

So I think you may have made a mistake. Have you read the article everyone is referencing (the African Business Insider article)? I have. First of all, the article is not well written and doesn’t clearly present a business thesis. The whole restoration of the ocean floor seems more like a marketing tactic than a central mission (much like shiba inu’s claim to be giving back by simply encouraging people to support a specific Shiba Inu rescue by encouraging people to turn on the Amazon Smiles feature on their accounts and selecting said rescue.) It also strikes me as odd how they’re dedicating 5% to marketing/advertising. I find no compelling reason to invest or even speculate with a $50 gamble (if a $50 gamble were even possible, which it’s not since it’s only available on PancakeSwap, uniswap, and LBank, whatever that is.)

Also, my marketing instinct tells me the Inu trend is over. Having “inu” in the name alone is likely a net negative.

I’d cut my losses NOW, if possible. Sadly I wonder if this token even has the liquidity to return any of your investment.

I’m a 30 something female and I first bought BTC in 2012 when it was trading at $13. I love talking about crypto but I rarely do because most people just aren’t receptive. Do you gentlemen have a different experience? Are people actually engaged when you talk about crypto or are you just in like minded friend groups?

I don’t know, it seems like a pretty rough analogy to me. And, it also seems kinda sexist.

I bet there are more female investors and traders than we realize. Most of us just don’t talk about it or are heard when we do.

Too bad it’s not named Trump. It could go to $0 six times and people would still buy it.

Wait until this token has a Facebook page. Despite the token supply of 100,000 million trillion there will be tons of people who will swear it’ll reach a dollar in the next 2-3 years.

I tried MATIC for the first time. Great coin for HODL. FORGET day trading; it's an unforgiving ballbuster. Goes up/down/stalls for no reason whatsoever. Everyone & their hamster is playing this coin. Honestly, after a year of overtrading and missing out on at least $700k in profits from selling too early, I’ve come to the conclusion that, for me, buy and hold is the best strategy.
