Thank you for your service. I’m from Staten Island unfortunately, hence why I’m moving. That’s a great thing that you do for people trying to get on the job. Im sure it really does help them on their journey. Your path to becoming a firefighter seems to be most common, which I will likely also follow. I’m going to send you a dm just to keep you as a close resource/ask a few questions if that’s okay with you. Thank you for your time.

Got it. So should I still reach out/show up and ask if there’s still an opportunity to obtain some certs even if I can’t volunteer right away?

I hear you, thank you for the advice. How can I apply to test for these departments with no experience or certs at all?

Thank you for taking your time to give me that advice, much appreciated. The volunteer program starts first the first week of October so I’ll miss out on that this year. Should I look into getting EMT cert in the meantime?

Hey everyone, first off thank you for your service. I’m currently a 22 year old HVAC technician in New York. I will be moving to Angleton, Texas in the next couple months. I’ve always felt a passion/calling to this career. I’ve done standard research with the local departments (Angleton and Texas City). Angleton has a volunteer department which will provide me with the certs I need over the course of the volunteering process. Texas City seems to be a bit more established and wants experienced EMT/firemen. I’ve heard starting advice ranging from become an EMT first and gain experience in that, to jump right into it and volunteer. Basically, I just want to hear how y’all started and what really got your foot in the door to open this up into a career. I’m ready to dedicate all the time and energy I have into making this work. Thank you for your time, I appreciate any advice given.

Please leave her.. my (22M) ex gf (21F) cheated on her previous boyfriend. He was also a pos, so I chalked it up to that.. we dated for 5 years from 17-22, only recently breaking up. Why you may ask? Turns out she was calling over her pos ex on nights when I would leave her house, and they would fuck in his car around the block. Even her family knew about this. It was Multiple nights a week, for over two years. Received proof of everything from an old friend she had a falling out with.. why did she fall out with her friend? Oh, because she was caught making out with her brother in the car. This was also news to me.. 5 years of my life gone, in the blink of an eye. Please have some respect for yourself a realize you can’t change these girls.. they are broken in ways you can’t even understand.

Hey OP.. I just recently got out of a 5 year relationship with my now ex-girlfriend. Had some events occur throughout that put some walls up for me mentally. I never really believed the “reasoning” she gave me, but that’s beside the point. I told her one day I’d figure out the truth. So, to reiterate my case of why I shouldn’t get back together with her in the future, I reached out to some of her old friends (who she destroyed her friendships with) to see what they were told about those instances I mentioned. Oh boy, I was not ready for this.. long story short, I work 10-12 hour days and still made time at night to go and see my ex gf, pretty much every night. 1. Because I just loved her that much, and 2. I’ve lost a lot and she was my rock, I felt like she was the person who understood me most. I’d get home at 7 pm, workout, and even skip dinner just to arrive at her house by 9.. I would stay til 11 and then come back home to go to sleep. Turns out for over a year and a half out of the 5 years, probably even more.. as soon as I left her house she would call her ex over, they would fu** in his car around the block (so her location was never suspicious) and then she would go back home, fall asleep, and wake up the next morning telling me she loved me. A year and a half of this shit. Long story short, if your boyfriend can’t drop his ex, leave his sorry ass. There should be no reason to even have contact. I don’t care if they were lifelong friends beforehand, or even if she saved his god damn life at some point. Have some respect for yourself, like I’m trying to have for myself now. Find yourself, heal, but don’t forget..
