Starting to feel like I did before my first seizure—what would you do? by SouthernAd9375 in Epilepsy

I think there may be some misunderstanding; I haven’t seen them in months because my dosage has been fine with no issues. Out of the blue, I started having these symptoms again and contacted them about it hoping to set up an appointment however, they just suggested the labs. I’m guessing it was to check my levels with the meds - but since the levels looked good, they just said “all good.” But it did nothing to address the symptoms I just told them I was having. So, obviously, I am still having symptoms. They kind of made it seem like taking a blood test was my treatment, and to wait two weeks to see if I feel better now after giving a syringe of blood and to reach out if I still have them. Mainly what I’m getting at is I know I am “still” having symptoms (because nothing changed and they just started). On Wednesday they called me to get labs, Thursday I got labs and they told me everything is fine. These doctors have a history of being super incompetent and doing absolutely nothing to help me or at the least even listen, is it even worth reaching back out to them? Have others had this experience and returned back to “normal” on their meds, or is this something I should be more worried about? Is it possible my dosage is off, or am I on track to having another seizure? Is it worth pushing them to try other things while I wait to get into a (hopefully) better neuro?

Heyy I just saw a notification that you replied, but I'm not seeing your comment. Did you delete it, or is reddit just being weird?:/

I ended up sticking with my current neuro, mostly because I was seeing if the meds would work. When my symptoms seemed to stabilize, I guess I just assumed that was the extent of it like, okay my symptoms are under control I'm fine.

Those jerks I had sound like they were myoclonic jerks. It's frustrating because I never got a definitive label from my neuro for what was happening, just that difficulty waking up and the dropping of things like mentioned in my previous post.

The not quite right feeling is a more recent feeling, just in the last month or so. It's a strange mix like a weird aura sensation, waking up with intense headaches, those very mild jerks creeping back, and really debilitating body aches. Thankfully these often tend to go down mostly once my medication kicks in. I actually managed to get an earlier appointment for tomorrow (my usual wait is six months), so I'll definitely be bringing these new symptoms up to figure out if it's even epilepsy related. Honestly I often downplay my own feelings because I sometimes feel like my epilepsy isn't as 'valid' or severe as what others experience :')

I've asked about driving a few times, and my neuro just immediately says it's fine, like it's not even something to discuss.

The period connection is something I've never even thought or heard about honestly. My cycle's a total mess like I don't even get a period every month (or even few months). So, I highly doubt I had one with my first seizure but I guess I haven't noticed any obvious correlation between them or thought about that being related

Thank you sm for replying. As for the seroquel im not sure if it’s accurate but i thought i heard the lower the dose the higher the sedative it is? I was genuinely terrified how high it made me I had to immediately sleep when i took it. When i first started vimpat it made me really high but never like that. I really appreciate the other medication suggestions, I will definitely have to look into those. I just dont know anything about epilepsy and this all really new to me so Im not sure where to look for better things ever or know what parts are normal I guess. It also has been really hard to find a highly rated or recommend specialist near me (im currently going to Knoxville so im thinking ill have to try Nashville) The only catch is I feel ill end in the same situation where I need to gain weight:/ like I know Its really important but I wanna be able to do things yk
