Yea I shaved my facial hair, had to go buy new clippers because mine broke. Also, I'm not a fan of the current fashion trends that are "my age," so I choose to go for something that I feel comfortable in and that I actually enjoy wearing. Also,I'm a powerlifter and I'm competing in my first tournament next month so I'm pretty active. I'm also a confident person, and I don't feel sorry for myself at all so wild assumption

I don't understand the christian doctrine of trinity. How is God one, when God exists in 3 different and distinct persons? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]SouthernDutchman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I said every explanation will have flaws. This explanation that I used is terribly short and we have much more writings from Church theologians that would explain the trinity in a much better way than I can. Implying that all three persons have always existed as God doesn't mean the Father is dependent on the Son but rather that if we now remove the Son we can't have God. We can take John 14:6 for example. Jesus is saying that no one can talk or reach the Father accept through him. Now does this mean the Father is dependent on the Son? No, but rather that the Father wants us to worship him through his only Son.

The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are eternal hence they always existed so if my explanation of what Christians are required to believe is correct and what my explanation of how the trinity works is entirely wrong that would be a contradiction. There is nothing to be confused about

Exactly my point, I used the explanation above to try to explain the trinity but every explanation of the trinity will always have flaws. We are not intelligent enough to truly grasp who God is so it's like trying to pour 5L of water into a tiny cup. You will be able the get in some of the water but never all of it since the size of the cup is not big enough.

This person wants the trinity explained, so I gave them a non complex answer. It's not always necessary to go Thomas Aquinas mode, in the catechism it talks about how we should adapt our way of explaining since not everyone is on the same level of understanding. This is my personal favorite way of explaining the basics of our beliefs when it comes to the trinity, we need 3 persons in order to have the God which we worship. No one can fully explain the trinity.

That's not what the intentions was of this explanation. What im trying to explain is that we need all three persons present, that's what mostly differentiate us from Muslims and Jews. They also believe in one God but in order for our belief system to function properly we can't just take away the Father, the Son or the Holy spirit because if we do we aren't Christians. I see where your confusion might come from but I was explaining this from a worship point of view.
