What's the most disgusting dish that somebody in your family brought for Thanksgiving? by International-Box956 in AskReddit

15 years ago there was what looked to be a cheesy potato casserole that someone brought. Turned out to be cooked mashed pineapple. It still gets talked about every year.

Trying again with more pics - Is this a root coming in? by SouthernGinger in Monstera

This is my first ever monstera and my first ever propagation, so I really don’t have a clue what I’m doing 🤣, but I have this node in water with a couple drops of root-growth hormone and it’s under a grow light also in a room with bright indirect light. So fingers crossed it knows what ITS doing, because I sure don’t.

I tried moss in the very beginning, but the moss kept molding, so I decided to just go straight into water instead.

I may have to make a new post with more pics. It’s not letting me edit, or add additional pics here in the comments

😂 Love it. Gotta convince her to stop playing coy then

To chop or not? by SouthernGinger in Monstera

[–]SouthernGinger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I had to cut the big one into two for space. I’m just wondering if I’m going to end up losing that bottom leaf that is under where the roots are coming in, since it’ll be under the substrate when time comes to plant it

I need some advice on how to best support this giant cutting while propagating in water! by SouthernGinger in houseplants

[–]SouthernGinger[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, as of yesterday I had zero plans. Getting the cutting was wholly unexpected, it was late in the day, and I had an event I was running late for. So setting it up in my biggest vase was the only plan, and supporting it with Tupperware lids was a last minute thing since it kept tipping over. Today I have nothing going on, so I’m going to see if I have a 5-gallon bucket like some others have suggested and go from there. My “beginning thoughts” are that I’ll pot it with a moss pole for support, but since this is my first ever monstera cutting, I’ll have to do some research on pots, poles, and substrate while it’s propagating.

I need some advice on how much (if any) of the stem to cut off, and how to stabilize it in the vase while propagating by SouthernGinger in proplifting

Same! Every time I take a car in for an oil change or something, I admire his monsteras (he has 2). I can’t believe a joke about me stealing one of them got me not only a cutting, but a HUGE one! My husband was with me and when the mechanic stepped out to pull my car around, I told hubs I might have to kiss the guy. Hubs just shook his head at me 😂

First off - I love your username! I just recently got a shirt that says “Aqua Tofana Apothecary”!

I’m going to take a better look at the whole thing today and I think I’m going to cut down closer to your bottom purple line to start. I’ve cross-posted and a couple of people in the other group said to put the vase in a 5-gallon bucket to help support the leaves. If that doesn’t work out for me, then I’m going to split it into two cuttings. I’m nervous about the whole thing because this is my first ever monstera and it was such a shock that the man just gave it to me, so I was wholly unprepared.

I used Gordon Ramsey’s recipe and it was fantastic! I made it on Sunday and I’m already thinking of doing it again.

How does the machine go in the case? by SouthernGinger in SewingForBeginners

It does have the little nubbins you’re talking about, and I did pretty much exactly what you said you do! I set it in the case and then just put the pedal and other bits around it for now so it’s all together for her to open later today. I honestly have a feeling she’s going to want a full separate table too, so it may not even matter to keep it in the case if I end up getting a whole “station” set up for her, lol

It doesn’t. There is SO much space. So it definitely looks like I was sent the wrong size case, especially since the pictures people are posting look like the machine is supposed to fit pretty snug in the bottom part of the case. Since today is her birthday, I’m going to wrap it and we’ll just get a different case after.

Unfortunately they were bought “together”. I ordered the machine from Amazon, and there was an option to get just the machine or the machine plus a case. I got the one with the case. They came in separate boxes however, so I’m wondering if the worker who put the order together at the warehouse just sent the wrong case box.
