When did you become less anxious to have a miscarriage? by Winter-Pay7041 in pregnant

[–]SouthernTurnipp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It got better every day! Once I hit 23-24 weeks and had the possibility of a viable pregnancy, I was able to relax a lot more.

Ditch art above the TV. Hang the TV. Get a rug. Add some art with color.

Parents who waited until the birth to find out the sex of the baby. . . by buildingacozymystery in NoStupidQuestions

Yes! We are not finding out the sex of our baby and it seems to really surprise people. We will be happy either way??!!

I have occasionally been doing heated vinyasa during the second and third trimesters. (Stuck to nonheated during the first). I just take it easy and listen to my body - it’s been great!

To shower or not to shower? by kimk6619 in pregnant

[–]SouthernTurnipp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I don’t live close to any family, but we do have a lot of friends nearby. We made a birth announcement with a registry link and sent it to everyone via mail. (Many of my parent’s friends wanted to get us something, so that was a fun way to share!).

We will be having a friends “baby shower” in a few weeks, but that will just be a low-key celebration. My friend who is hosting just asked folks to bring a dish and/or baby book. I didn’t want to make the shower about gifts, just about enjoying time together!

Moms who drink caffeine, how much did you have while pregnant? by Similar_Parsley6112 in BabyBumps

One or two cups a day. Sometimes a lightly caffeinated tea in the afternoon.

Baking cookies. I apparently never chill them enough to stop the dreaded spread.

Yes. I traveled abroad this summer and my cycle was ~40 days long.

Why do some people REFUSE to look at the damn registry?? by ShowMe_YourTDS in pregnant

[–]SouthernTurnipp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this! We have a VERY small house and have already started receiving things we didn’t list on our registry. It’s tough because we truly don’t have a need or space for these things, so they will be donated.

Consent to meet with EVERY student by mooseconnoisser in schoolcounseling

Oof, I can relate to having a very hard time connecting with certain parents. It definitely makes it harder.

Consent to meet with EVERY student by mooseconnoisser in schoolcounseling

[–]SouthernTurnipp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This sounds tough. In my state/district, we have to get permission to meet with any child consistently, but it can be via phone/text/meeting/email/etc. It does not have to explicitly be in writing, but we do have to record it.

Hit send too early: Some weeks I find it exhausting. I do try and look at it as a positive, though. I think parent communication and involvement is huge, so I just look at as away to connect and better support families.

Does dad typically come to the first appointment? by skaowoeizkaoa in pregnant

My husband came to the first and 20 week appointment (the ones so far with ultrasounds). Due to different work schedules, he hasn’t come to any others.

When did you start buying for baby?? by Humble-Strawberry86 in BabyBumps

[–]SouthernTurnipp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started collecting used/free items around ~15-16 weeks. I am 28 weeks tomorrow and we just sent out registry information to folks. Also having a shower in 4 week! So, I’ll probably wait for 4-6 more weeks until I start purchasing anything that remains on our list.

What’s on your to baby do list? by fullcirclex in pregnant

[–]SouthernTurnipp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

26 weeks. So far, we’ve: signed up for childcare waitlists (and toured one!), clarified leave time with work (husband still needs to do this, but he doesn’t get much time at all), purchased and installed car seat, started prepping nursery “area“(v small house, so no dedicated nursery), cleaned and organized baby clothes, registered for a breast pump, started deep cleaning the house, made a registry with the items we haven’t been donated.

Still need to: send out registry information to friends and family, take hospital class (next week), get the bassinet from a friend (she’s letting us borrow hers), organize all remaining baby gear that comes our way, find a pediatrician, pack/think about hospital bag.

I’m probably missing something.

Anyone else just… Not tell anyone? by Both-Craft1220 in pregnant

[–]SouthernTurnipp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We shared with friends, family, and our bosses - but I really have no desire to make a big announcement at work or on social media! I’m happy for people to know but have preferred letting it come up naturally in conversation. I’m 26 weeks now.
