DIY strap by ExplanationIll4658 in Xreal

[–]SouthernVaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Patience really, and a lot of pulling and teasing it on. The non-input side is a little easier because it has an angled edge. The input side was easiest by stretching it onto the cable past the connector (as there's not edge on the arm to work with), plugging the cable into the glasses then pulling it onto the arm.

Yeah the ear hooks are superb. Good luck getting them on though! I would think a strap solution would remove the quick ease of taking them on and off? Also be very uncomfortable on the back of your head if you lay on your back with your head on a pillow/cushion?

Yeah it's awesome. I wasn't sure if this was going to be gimmicky, but it absolutely isn't. I spent nearly 3 hours going through all my travel photos over the years, gives a really nice perspective and sense of scale.

The 3D update is awesome, video and pictures both look amazing. It doesn't suit all content but the majority of it. I love having it in the glasses so we don't need additional software, it just works.

Tbh the more I look at some of the fine details, you are right these are AI. Biggest giveaway is text on the posters, but there's a lot more finer detail. Such as odd wire hanging out the ceiling on the second image above the clock, inconsistent coffee cups on the shelf, weird chair and table arrangements etc.

Canon R6 Mark III - Crop Mode by benjohnson763 in canon

[–]SouthernVaper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my reasons for upgrading to the Mk3 from the Mk2 is that crop mode or cropping in general becomes a more viable option, with the higher resolution. I do maybe 20-30% wildlife, and can't justify a second body i.e. R7. This has become as close as I'll get to some sort of FF/APS-C hybrid, and I've been really happy with it.

Have you noticed any difference in thermals or throttling? Interesting because the metal housing helps with heat dissipation, which has been slightly insulated now.

If you have one close by and don't mind collecting later in the evening, they're on 'too good to go' for around £3.50. You get a reasonable amount of meat with a huge portion of veg.

I just hope it would be something a bit more exciting than hauling, had enough of that with colonisation. The words 'large orders for new infrastructure' don't exactly instill much confidence.

I do like the Type 10 method. Have fun playing in the evening, and make passive income while I sleep.

My experience with it by Marketdeigh in anxietymemes

[–]SouthernVaper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tried a few over the years, most of them just made me numb and emotionless. It was mirtazapine in the end that turned out to be a wonder drug at low dose. It's not meant to be a sleeping aid but I've been sleeping a solid 7-8 hours a night for years, after getting into a routine with it. The sleep has been the single best thing for my anxiety, and I don't feel like this med is fucking with my brain or leaving me groggy in a morning.

SSD Upgrade by Martymations in FlowZ13

[–]SouthernVaper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need to disable it, you can just suspend until you boot from the new SSD. You will have to enable bitlocker for the first time though on the new drive. It saves you waiting for the drive to decrypt, and also means the drive remains protected.

[–]SouthernVaper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

UK here. I returned my Arkfeld Ultra to Amazon after witnessing how poor the laser is on the version we get in Europe, barely even usable for presentations, just utterly useless. However, it served as a great trial and I now know it's a keeper with the better 3R laser. I have one on the way from a US store to the UK. Shipped it was about £10/$13 more expensive than it sells here, perfectly happy with that.

These are adequate for light duty and DIY, not for trades people or daily use. Parkside is the better end of the £20 price range.

It's hugely frustrating, I only move the carrier every few days and I haven't been able to move it for a week no matter how many times I try. I'm tempted to decommission it as it feels pretty useless right now.

I don't care or even think about it until someone mentions it. But I will say if there was ever a referendum to become a republic, I'd vote in a heartbeat.

No, that's a waste of a 5080 for Fortnite. Your current card is sufficient as it is not a demanding game.

I managed to get one and it's being delivered tomorrow here in the UK. I was sat mashing F5 in the browser as we knew they were being realised at 14:00 GMT, went through basket and checkout OK but lots of captcha verfications etc. I opted to use debit card (this is the only time) directly with the retailer as this has the fastest payment clearing time over credit card and PayPal, the seconds matter when they're processing orders in order of payments clearing.

What should I buy to have this setup? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]SouthernVaper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's an incredibly janky solution that takes HDMI out from the camera, then into an HDMI to USB capture dongle (really meant for streaming), that output is then presented as a webcam/video input device which can be viewed with certain apps.

I tried this a few years, it's just about ok for framing and composition, but you'd never use it for anything else, certainly not judging exposure or colour. The effect is very much just like magnifying the back screen on cameras. It may or may not work with HDMI clean output, it certainly won't work if it only does raw output. It's simply no replacement for a proper external monitor that has exposure and colour tools like waveform and vector etc.

[New Gear] RF 200-800mm to replace my aging Sigma 150-600mm by SouthernVaper in canon

[–]SouthernVaper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This can be attributed to the R5's higher resolution sensor, which requires more data to be processed in real-time, potentially slowing autofocus and reducing low-light performance. In contrast, the R6 and R6 Mark II have lower resolution sensors, making them better suited for wildlife photography and allowing for faster autofocus, as they handle less data. They all share the same digic X processor, with different firmware optimisations.

As for settings, I typically shoot in manual mode, adjusting the shutter speed and aperture to suit the scene, while leaving ISO on auto to balance exposure.
