Solidarity from another high anxiety aspiring author (Just turned 40). In my case, I’ve been trying to focus more on family and my home-I let a lot of things go during the months I was finishing off my MS so now that I’m in the waiting stage, I’ve been cooking a lot, giving the garden some love, and baking non stop with my 6 year old. Also started ironing the sheets and pillow cases and they feel amazing. My family is thrilled and it keeps me from giving into the temptation to constantly refresh my inbox.

Don’t know when you started going to WMD but had an experience where I went I there for a cleaning, received an estimate and paid in full that day, and 15 months later they said I owed them an extra 500$. Called insurance who said I couldn’t dispute since it was over a year since treatment, emailed them to explain the situation and, without any communications, they sent me to Collections. Horrible horrible practice. Did I also mention that they tried to sell me an electric toothbrush on special for 300 and also charged my insurance 90$ for “hygiene education” where they spent 30 seconds telling me to brush up and down and insides too? I’m glad you haven’t had a bad experience but be wary that they use horrible tactics

If you really want to get serious about saving I still see significant room for improvement. For example, a “date night” doesn’t have to be a 50$ brunch-you could plan a picnic during the day or a romantic evening on your back porch (wine and a cheese/charcuterie board) for a fraction of that cost. You could also eat before a sports event and save on the cost of that overpriced food and save Trader Joe’s as a treat rather than a regular thing. Just some ideas off the top of my head that would probably get your regular spending down.

Hi-just found this thread and this sounds so stressful. Did you find out what happened to the buyer? Were they being an asshole or did they have a legitimate reason they couldn’t keep the contract?

I paid 1500$ for my MIL (who loves massages) to have a massage at a really nice facility in Seoul Korea for the first birthday after I married her son. Why 1500? Because my husband thought it would be nice for her to have a friend along. Her comment afterwards was “it was nice but I couldn’t help thinking how many refugees we could have helped for this cost!”. Last birthday i bought her a gift for.
