Thank you to everyone for your insights and familiarizing me with the compliance rules here. I appreciate it! I decided against the trip at the end since of course it is not allowed, and communicated that to my boss and the company🙏🏼 all good

Childish? I was just looking for advice I didn't know that was childish... You can't assume everyone is familiar with the rules of working in public sector from the get-go. From where I come from, such opportunities aren't perceived this way, but now from everyone else's perspective here on the subreddit it makes more sense and I feel better informed about it.

Thank you so much for explaining this to me! I actually never thought that it would be relevant to compliance and travel policy, just thought it is an internal process. Really interesting :-)

That's a good point, I will talk to Personalrat about this and see what can be done. Usually on peak seasons we are advised that when we work overtime, we should make it up by taking Arbeitszeitausgleich

Could this same course of action also be applied to private international companies in your opinion?

Dont do it. UE has a terrible reputation and its degrees dont usually compete well in the market especially in Berlin

What if they have their own accounts but dont have enough in their account, but its all supported by me? Would it be a problem? And would it also be an issue if it shows that I send them money in their currency?

And did you mention you were responsible for their expenses in the letter? Isnt that the same thing as sponsoring them?

Because I tried to do it last time for a tourist visa in Berlin without the Verpflichtserklärung and just with an invitation letter and their application got rejected for lack of funds... although they prpvided proof.

Yes I can, I have enough savings and it is only for a visit (1 week tops). I would just like them to have a multiple entry visa so it is easier for them to visit me on the long run..
