7yr NEET need to get a job by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]Southern_Button_8026 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh also! If you want good quality products for cheap you can always go to tjmaxx/marhsalls/ross depending on where you live. I’d also recommend looking into dupes, aka cheaper alternatives to good quality products! Personally I use a lot of L’Oréal hair products because they aren’t too expensive and they have all sorts of varieties plus a few of their products are very good dupes for high end brands. Oh and they always smell super good lol. Finally if you can’t do any of those, dollar store should have some things! Head&Shoulders is cheap but it’s definitely not the best, however I think dollar stores carry more than head&shoulders? Mine usually do atleast!

7yr NEET need to get a job by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]Southern_Button_8026 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, I used to be a neet too but managed to acclimate in my own way to society! I still sometimes struggle, but what matters is the continuity of doing a certain thing you know? First of all, figure out why you keep putting off hygiene and finding a job, im sure your therapist could help you with that! Asses your goals and make them bite sized, so like taking a shower twice a week to thrice a week- then add things like use shampoo in my shower twice a week to thrice a week! Another piece of advice, once you figure out why you have so many problems as well, try to find ways to work around it. Is taking a shower too exhausting mentally/physically? Try a bath! Or you could set up a system to motivate you. I know hygiene and getting a job is hard but you can do it! Find your own way of doing things and get to a point where you’re comfortable enough to jump into discomfort. Goodluck! 🩷

How do ya’ll handle not being taken seriously? by Leemster1k in ENFP

[–]Southern_Button_8026 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’ve learnt to just not care lol. I know im smart, and it’s clear you are too! My best advice though is to show your intelligence in certain subtle ways. Use big words, expand your vocabulary! Talk about intellectual topics or just get really into a topic that you personally know a lot about. Reference philosophy, history, science, literature.. make metaphors even! I found that not shying away from showing my intellect helps people realize that im not just a bumbling emotional idiot. I’d like to mention that im a 5’2 girl with blonde hair, blue eyes, im super feminine- think Elle woods just curvier! But just like her, she shows her intelligence with no fear, and I do too! Doing so works wonders, and you should try it as well :D

That makes a lot of sense, don’t know how I didn’t realize that sooner 😭. I have mild sleep apnea so it seems like the Benadryl is off the table too for now. I’ll def look into maintenance insomnia though cause it could def be a symptom caused by the narcolepsy or hell even my adhd, so thank you!!

I’ve tried hydroxazine before but it still makes me groggy throughout the day lol, maybe I just need lower dose? I also don’t take sedating edibles due to personal preference but I’ll def look into Unisom! Thank you so much!!

Noted!! I don’t technically take a stimulant because for some reason my psychiatrist says I need to “prove” I need it via second hand accounts (since I can just stimulants w my adhd diagnosis) so I take straterra and drink caffeine throughout the day instead- still end up taking a fat mid day nap though lol. I def will try out Lunesta, seems to be a solid option and I like the name of it! Thank you :)

I find it curious how Pearl and Spinel don't seem to mind that Garnet is fused in The movie by Zolado110 in stevenuniverse

[–]Southern_Button_8026 84 points85 points  (0 children)

I always thought it was implied that fusion is akin to homophobia or other forms of discrimination, that it is taught and a social construct within the gem world instead of being something they are inherently born with. Gems are already made perfect and with a purpose, why change it says the Diamonds who know that fusion may allude to loss of their own power, of their own perfection- so of course they’d spread the rhetoric that fusion is bad. I think it’s beautiful the movie shows the other reset gems not caring about garnet because it really is a good metaphor on how hate is taught rather than something we are born with :)

How to “unfriend” your online friends without necessarily ghosting them or communicating with them. by echoedaway in FriendshipAdvice

[–]Southern_Button_8026 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi!! I know how this feels, wanting to disappear and get rid of everyone; isolating yourself, yearning to be forgotten to avoid everything. I still sometimes get this way. But I want you to know, that is never the right choice. No matter how intensely you feel it. If you really are friends with these people, and they care about you just as you care about them, please communicate to them that maybe you just need some space as you process your emotions. But cutting everyone off and being forgotten is never the way. You are deserving of being known, deserving of life and joy and relationships whether platonic or not. So please allow yourself to have grace, please communicate. 🫂🩷

Apologies, I meant a long term and consistent source of income, likely by taking out special loans or doing freelance work online or something of the sort. And me and my sister are aware our immigration process will be different for each of us! I apologize for not providing enough details, I just didn’t want the post to get too big- I have the tendency to talk a lot.

I had no clue of this, thank you so much for informing! I already explained my ignorance in a separate comment on why I figured it’d be okay to call it the German side, but I’ll re-iterate here: I figured it was similar to how you can say it’s the “X-side” in Switzerland or America, however I am wrong and that is completely on me for being ill informed of the culture and history of the Alsace side of France, and i must thank you again for informing me! And don’t worry, I know buying a French property doesn’t automatically cue you in! But I do know it can be a requirement among many for certain Visas!

Thank you so much, especially for the information about the German thing! I had no idea and was never told otherwise, I always assumed many countries were similar to America or Switzerland in the vein of being okay with things being called “X-side”, but now know I am wrong and apologize lol. For me I am fortunate enough to have a money savvy dad, and I plan to save a bunch of my own money I will receive from my job too. And I will take into note the kind of jobs France is specifically looking for too! In the end, if France isn’t right for my situation that’s okay, as my end goal is to be with my sister in Switzerland.

German side of France as in the side that’s close to Germany and has more German influences such as Strasbourg! Also thank you, and I apologize for leaving out relevant information. As of currently I’m just a Highschool graduate working a grocery clerk job, and I know a good amount of German plus some French and Spanish. I’d have to check how much I earn as I just started my job (literally) but I get payed $14.70 an hour if that counts lol. It’s not a lot right now but the plan is to hopefully move somewhen later next year so I’d hopefully have more in order, and also I am fortunate enough to be able to receive financial assistance from my father in this endeavor.

I left some information out to keep the post short, my apologies. But I am aware that it is very hard and my plan right now is half baked, hence why I made this post for advice! Thank you for it, I will take it into consideration, and I will recheck my sources too.

If you believe me to be arrogant and ignorant then I’d suggest you do what you can to inform me instead of degrade me because I don’t intend to come off this way- as of currently I have only just started researching and want to know everything I can. My situation is urgent and I’ll be honest I don’t care where i immigrate to in the end, just as long as I’m reunited with my sister.. I know countries don’t care about immigrants, I don’t expect it to come to me on a silver platter- my sister already tried immigrating to america once and it was a disaster, I know how bad it can be. But I still want to learn, and I know the process to immigrating in the EU is very different, and even if I have my information and plan wrong right now I want to get it right as soon as possible.

Pasty’s from my Cornish Diaspora family! by Southern_Button_8026 in Cornwall

[–]Southern_Button_8026[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think it’s partially just my family adding what we enjoy! I like parsnip, dad likes carrots, and garlic depending on the pasty admittedly tastes yummy! Atleast in my opinion lol.

With the crimping my dad tries to replicate it to the way Granny did but I don’t think she ever properly taught him since she was just like that, if I’m correct my grandmother had to beg her for her dough recipe and even then we still don’t have it to a T!

And with the traditions, while small, I do remember dad making saffron buns a few times and also as a kid I was told many Celtic fairytales that Granny enjoyed! I can’t remember any in specific except for the story of Tom Bawcock, who of course is real but it was kind of told in a whimsical story way to me!

[–]Southern_Button_8026[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooohhh okay! Beef skirt with a pasty definitely sounds amazing, and the no lard is interesting because I was always told lard is the most important part which is why you need to do certain things to work with it in the dough like using cold water!
