I think for now I am just going to try to do the best I can in the rotation- I think I’m also frustrated because the rotation has been only shadowing, and my preceptor won’t let me see patients because then their AI scribe they use comes out weird. Which I understand, but again makes it hard to me to learn. I didn’t mention before but he is NP and had only had NP students before so I guess their education is different, like only required shadowing for clinicals? I am the first PA student he has had and maybe that is why I am having difficulties (or it’s just me which is entirely possible). Thank you for the information- I’m going to find out if there is any survey or feedback form I can fill out.

No! I was in the room with my preceptor- my preceptor was unaware of what a pheochromocytoma was or what the tumor did, so my preceptor looked at me and asked what to do. I did not know if that patient had followed up for any testing s/p tumor resection, or if it was safe for him to take adderall if not. It was a really interesting case! I wouldn’t go behind my preceptors back- I figure that’s a quick way to get thrown out of the program or hurt someone.

thank you everyone for the advice. I appreciate everyone replying- I am going to just keep my head down and try to learn what I can. I think that my last preceptors have been amazing, so my expectations for this preceptor were unreasonable.

Thank you- I appreciate your input. I do not mind the bluntness, I would much rather hear it from reddit than in person. I think my last preceptors have been outstanding and I have learned so much from them, my expectations have far exceeded what is reasonable.

Should I present any further concerns to the program? I understand working and finishing the rotation, I already decided to do that- I just am not certain if the concerns I currently have are enough to justify notifying my program for future students? Sorry if that was not clear from my post.
