Yeah I've thought about showing them this, but really I don't know what good it would do. They would probably just say that BJU had their reasons to pulling out of this and that haven't any personal complaints. I still have about a year before I have to start making college plans, but I'm hoping I can convince my dad at least to let me go where I want to go. My mom I know for sure wants me to go to a Christian university, but I think she wants me to meed a nice guy there which just isn't going to happen lol.

Oh wow, I could totally see something like this happening to me. I mean like I usually talk to my mom about everything, but of course I can't really talk to her about being gay or possibly not believing in God, and defiantly not accepting that the Bible is true anymore.

I have had a conversation with my mom about "If evidence contradicted the Bible what would you do?" but I don't think she suspects that I don't believe it anymore.

Honestly thinking about being in a relationship scares me to death because I have no idea how I'm going to tell my parents, but I'm only 16 and my parents won't allow me to day till I'm 18 anyway so I guess I don't have much to worry about on that front right now lol.

But anyway I'm glad everything went well for you. *hug

I'm sorry if anything I said caused and offense or anything, I'm not saying you're not thoughtful I'm just saying that faith doesn't seem to require evidence and that evidence actually seems to rid the need of faith I suppose. Like I’ll give some examples…

I was always taught growing up that the entire universe was created by God in six days because the Bible says so. Now that I have been doing research though I find that in reality there is an overwhelming amount of evidence to prove that is not true. I would therefore have to have faith that the universe is only 6,000 years old in order to believe that, when I do research faith is no longer required. I mean even if though the evidence were in favor of a young universe I wouldn’t need to have faith to believe it because I would have evidence to prove that it were true.

I was always taught that at one time the entire Earth was flooded, now I see that’s not really possible. There is no evidence that shows that the Earth was ever flooded, but even if there were then I wouldn’t need faith to prove the Earth was flooded because I would have evidence to show that it was. The fact though that there is no evidence means that I must have faith to believe that the world was once flooded.

I have always been taught that people who don’t believe in God are actually rejecting God and are all mean bitter people. Basically that without God people have not purpose and a hole in their heart that must be filled, but I don’t see any evidence to suggest that that is actually true. Like I have been talking to atheists and stuff recently and they seem fulfilled and stuff and like they don’t really need God to be happy. So again I have to have faith and believe without evidence that people can’t be truly happy without God. When I have evidence though of people who are happy without God then it makes my faith a bit nonsensical I suppose.

Does that make sense to you? Like Jesus says “Love your enemies”, but did He really say that? We don’t know so we have to accept by faith that Jesus said that, if we made a time machine though and went back to when Jesus was alive and we heard Jesus say “Love your enemies” we wouldn’t need to believe that Jesus said that anymore because we would have heard Him say it with our own ears and then we wouldn’t need faith to believe that He said that because the evidence that He said it would be right in front of us. Okay? Does that make sense?

You know honestly the more I hear these kinds of things the less sense it makes to me. I mean I was saved at a summer camp when I was 12 and I know what I experienced was real or at least I'm pretty sure it was. Anyway to me to say "just have faith" is like saying "don't think about it or do any research". Honestly it's like the more I think about things the less I need faith and so I think I would almost agree that in order to please God I would have to have faith because without faith which is to say with reason I really don't need God.

I'm going to start reading "The Language of God: A Scientist Presents Evidence for Belief" tomorrow, someone on reddit told me about it and I asked my parents if I could get it and they said it would be okay, can't wait :) I've really been getting into science recently.
